ParticipantYaaa, I need to get my Hatz tubo diesel sprocket changer all mounted up to smoke the competition. Just need to add a jake brake and a 30/1 detenation elboy pad.
My question is when are we going to stop relying on foreign manufacturers for our American pleasures?

ParticipantThat’s cool Doug. Congratulations! but wait…. you just varified and advertized “percieved advantage” with a sealed mini max motor. LOL

ParticipantBut Mike a genius wouldn’t have all ready forgoten the first post on this thread. You would only be an Einstein for a year or so till the same problem comes up again.
But working hard this off season to get a bunch on new spec shifter guys set up for this same discusion next year does seem to follow par in kart racing sales.“however direct from Honda they will not be building anymore 2 strokes as of 2008.”
I would like to plan my motor usage for the fewture not just for the next year or two.

ParticipantI shure hope someone figures out what to do about this. It’s pretty sad to think we can promote an extinct motor as the new class of karting.
Just a few months ago when I was trying once again, to decide what my fewture in karting was I was mislead again with ” Ya Honda will supply us with as many of these kits as we need for as long as we need them.”
The end of production in 2008 for even the new ones is not a good way to get many people started in investing towards the fewture of racing any thing, unless you only want the racer to stay with it for a year or two.
Good Luck.Rodney Ebersole
ParticipantIf you miss at dodging hay bails it hurts more.

Participant“Just give us time to sell our old stuff and get the new stuff.”
“give racers time to sell old equipment or get new”I don’t know but that to me is the number one problem with our local karting. JB is the only one that is convinced enough that the old stuff has any value to be sold and used again.
Maybe if the shops and tracks would some how strive to keep the new equipment from becoming old in a one to two year time period the old racers wouldn’t leave the sport after their new stuff became old in a couple of years. It just seems to me every time I hear about fixing kart racing the plan always means getting rid of the old stuff and buying new.
The advantage goes to the new racer that doesn’t yet know that all their new equipment will be old and just about useless in a couple of years, and we wonder why the once new karter leaves when it happens.
A long term plan for kart racing should include keeping a plan long enough for the new racer to become and old racer with out having to become a professional resaler of useless equipment.
Most of you seem to enjoy making fun of the almost extinct Briggs racers or even the extinct yamaha kt racers of Colorado. The rules, consisitency and price point that them two power plants had over the last 20 years brought in more karters to kart racing across the country than Rotax, TAG,Honda or Comer will ever think about doing. The reason it worked well was because it was the same crap year after year. I even stopped racing for five years and got back into with my old stuff and won championships from working with my old stuff instead of having to buy all new. I guess my main point is, while your fixing kart racing in Colorado to draw more new people into the sport for 2007. Try to keep things from changing so fast that they have no choice but to become an X karter when the shops and tracks have something new to promote to get more new racers in 2008 after 2007 doesn’t work out quite like you planned.Rodney Ebersole
Participant“lets all just go on a one month vacation at one time!”
What kind of vacation would it be if everyone was on vacation when you got there? Heck you couldn’t even get there if everyone is on vacation.

ParticipantHay the inmate idea isn’t too bad either. Maybe we could get Canyon City interested in a race event. I bet there is all ready some good fencing up. The prison break race. We would automatically have a few thousand cuffed spectators.
Someone compair the Blackrock entry fees/prizes to the Rock Islands entry fees/prizes.
Street races of the past were done mainly in conjuntion with a towns celebration of the town. Stores and property owners were not compensated. Kart racers were compensated for attending and doing well.Rodney Ebersole
ParticipantGee, I am like a windows 95 guy that bought a gold unit. I thought it was pretty easy to figure out which commands to click for the system to create a track map. The manuel is even just written in english so I couldn’t mistakenly use the Pollock settings.
It would be sweet if the Mychron man would put on a nother seminar in this area again.Rodney Ebersole
ParticipantIs there something wrong on Mylaps, is the main finishing order in Tag masters inverted or something?
Has Craig Mansfield gone MAD??
A podium finish???????
Boy, I am going to have to call him to see what he didn’t do wrong.
Way to go Craig!!!!!!!!Rodney Ebersole
Participanthere’s some contact info.

Rainbow falls Ice advisary phone numbers are 719-687-8615 or 719-868-1600.
Georgetown info number 303-331-2377
My number 303-838-1941 if you want to hear about my attempts at studding up tires for a kart.Rodney Ebersole
ParticipantWell it takes more than one guy with a hammer to make a club.
The only orginized kart ice racing we have had for the past few years has been when Extreme Ice Racing puts on their traveling event at the Loveland Bud event center in Jan. That event has karts bikes and quads. The karts are limited to open 4 strokes though and Colorado brings out about 3 including myself.
There is other crazy people in the state playing on ice. Rainbow falls which is near Deckers has quad and bike clubs doing a race series. Rainbow will let you play on there ponds with what ever you want, yet the orginized race days have a full class line up with little or no room for a class of karts to make the short winter days even longer.
George Town has had the Jeep club running for years too.
As far as karts it is about time to try and get something going.
With Colorado being dominate with sprint style karts, Tags and shifters, my dream is to run them on a sprint coarse instead of an oval. I have a good lead on a private lake near me that the care taker seems to be game at doing this yet besides the work involved in studding up some tires. The real work would be clearing the lake of the snow to set up the coarse. With that in mind the simplist and warmer deal would be an indoor ice hockey rink in town.
I did get a set of 6″ wheels for my shifter that I mounted some Carlise snow hog snow blower tires on for a trip to that private lake at some point.
I don’t know why it doesn’t happen, yet I would think that a kart shop would be interested in promoting karts in the #1 State of winter activities.Rodney Ebersole
ParticipantYa, I would say he’s going to boats. Heck some people have to do lead/follow training in spec Miatas two times a day. What is he thinking.
Ya OK, have fun and good luck Greg, darnet I thought you were going to grow up and be a famous Go-Kart racer. 😕Rodney Ebersole
Participanthttp://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm
This link is a good read about break in and ring seal.
Why is it that a rotax has to be broken in so carefully?
Are the sealors/builders using too tight of piston clearance, or small ring gap? I’m sorry but if a motor is built well for racing there shouldn’t be nothing to break in, other than getting some good cylinder pressure to make the rings seat. The rings wont seat untill you get good heat and pressure.
I am here to learn too. In the past I have even made and used electric break in stands. The only advantage I could find is that you could tighten up the cylinder clearance and ring gap. Even then good ring seal didn’t happen untill combustion pressure/heat is experianced by the top ring.
O well that was mostly 4 cycle stuff, I have stuck a couple of 2 strokes on my first outing with them from running them too lean and building it too tight.Rodney Ebersole
ParticipantMaybe to keep it simplier the info could be gathered from the entry forms and when funds are recieved, like from the Steam Boat deal. Money was given to us, yet a few months later these bussinesses are still in bussiness and hardly anybody here knows who they were or how to contact them.
You know, work with what we have, before we worry about what we can get.- AuthorPosts
