Mac, The racing series has been working hard over the years to be all inclusive which has lead to some method of including as many karters racing organized races all completed in just one day.
To fragment the 2 open classes into more individual “open” classes would make it even harder to allow all kart racers and staff to enjoy a meaningful day at the races designed to crown a champion for each class raced. The oxymoron would be an “open LO206”. Just call it an open 4 stroke TAG and go out and try to win with it in the Open class that’s all ready in the schedule.
Also feel free to have one built with a tranny and enter the open shifter class.
What more could a kart racer want?

The Lo206 classes, light and heavy which is at this time run together would have to be split into two and ran separately before we would need to worry about having LCQ’s and such.
If the Lo206 classes do grow enough to be split that would open the door for Lo206 racers to compete in booth heavy and light if they feel the need to.

I imagine the open Tag class is the class that could allow for the few open motors Mac has asked about. An open Tag can use an electric starter for starting which would be no different than an open _____ running within the class. Even unaltered methanol fuel sounds like it could fit within the open Tag class rules. I don’t see the need to make another open class for open motors when we all ready have one that could use some more participants in it. Dust it off and race it.

Chuck, 219 allows for better clearance on some karts rear cross member. An 18 and a 19 tooth front driver is all I have been using. The smallest 64 through 76 is a nice range to have.
You will need split gears yet you can also split your solid gears that you have.
At this time I will not post the exact gear that I used at each track for my weight class and tire use.

Chuck, here is the link to the rules. http://www.briggsandstratton.com/engines-racing/~/media/Files/product_catalog/Briggs%20Racing/Briggs2016206%20rules_FINAL.pdf?la=en

5506 or 5507 are the only pipes allowed. 5507 is what is used with a right side motor mount kart like your Arrow. I think the 5506 is designed for a left side motor mount kart like the Beneck kart.
The Hillard flame or blaze work well, even the old Norams. I would suggest utilizing 219 chain drive gears as the od is smaller and will add with clearance at your rear cross member of the frame.
I like the burris 5 degree mount.
Brad is the only local dealer that I have heard that advertises and stocks most everything.
Faster Motors/ Jim France has also provided many packages to our local racers as well I am sure Podium Karting has too.

The many problems you have heard about are quite rare yet always centered around premature wearing of the cams nose which is most vulnerable during the early life of the motor. Use the 4t spec oil and keep the rpms above 2500 for go splash lubing early on.
Feel free to contact me for all your stupid questions as I have all the stupid answers. 😛

Jake, please be sure to give us a heads up if another race date is planned.

I don’t see how IMI could tear down their wall with out tearing down their grand stands too.

My 2 cents when talking about float ht. and needle pin positions.
The needle has 5 positions from the top towards the bottom or pointy end , the top slot is the leanest slot and the bottom slot is the richest.
Often it is defined as pin 1 as the leanest slot or pin 5 as the richest slot.
To say the “last” position isn’t a good description as that could be the top or bottom slot.

The float height is a measurement of the float with the carb up side down.
A higher measurement causes a lower/leaner fuel level in the bowl when running.
The typical range for float ht. measurements is .840 to .900 inches.
It can be confusing as a person will say they raised their float height when really changing the float height measurement to a higher amount when up side down is actually lowering the level of the floats when it is running or right side up. LOL
A .200 change in height would create a problem. I suspect Jdavis-403 made a .020 change instead of a .200 change as mentioned in his earlier post.

I know I have some used black bread boxes, new blue boxes and some yellow noses.
I’ll need to snow shoe to the shed to inventory. I would be glad to trade for your animal motor.

This old fat racer said: Racing promoters do govern racing events all though they are more like the EPA where they are not elected officials and their power of rule enforcement is not based on popular votes.

I heard the rumor that Kirk Deason will be promoting a 30 race series with a $30,000.00 to win in a 350# 100cc super stock direct drive class. The race dates are secret but will be at night with out lights in order to save on track rental fees. He is still working on the $100,000.00 announcer contract fee with Tony and could use some large donations of food and drinks to clinch the deal.

Get your tin foil hat on and stay tuned. :hypno

Richard, You will never know unless you try it. You all ready induced more caster by widening the front and narrowing the rear and liked the results, right?
Have you tried adding seat struts to the rear bearing carriers, or and raising the VCG with the seat and or weight placement yet? You can always go back.

I am also disappointed with the help that you have gotten here while trying to get involved with karting at the Grand Junction Track. I can say that we have a good group Lo206 racers in the Denver area that I would be glad to help you get started with at having a great time racing with.
But I understand GJMS is closer to home for you and it is a very nice track to race at. IMO their LO206 class is still in the growing stages and needs more teams like you and your son.
The main rule you need to follow at this time is to get to the track, race and have fun.
Racing for Heroes had a LO206 night race event there this summer yet the Mylaps records were never posted I think the 360# Lo206 class got into the 1.07 times with the Duro tires.
I expect lots of LO206 racers to be at the last club race of this season at Centential this weekend maybe you could make the trip?

Another fun day at the races. I did miss having Adam racing with us though.
I was happy that I got a little faster, but then so did Jeremy and Eddy. :bang
