Anybody know if there are any active forums for club racers at GJMS? Been trying to get more info about rules for L206. Not having much luck. No luck even asking at the track on the weight requirement. I don’t even know who is in charge of club stuff there? Karting in CO seems to be a bit fragmented with no easy to obtain info. Makes it tough on someone trying to start out. Will show up for the Sept 20 race ready to race and hope that we are legal. :loony:

I can say that we have a good group Lo206 racers in the Denver area that I would be glad to help you get started with at having a great time racing with.
But I understand GJMS is closer to home for you and it is a very nice track to race at. IMO their LO206 class is still in the growing stages and needs more teams like you and your son.
The main rule you need to follow at this time is to get to the track, race and have fun.
Racing for Heroes had a LO206 night race event there this summer yet the Mylaps records were never posted I think the 360# Lo206 class got into the 1.07 times with the Duro tires.
I expect lots of LO206 racers to be at the last club race of this season at Centential this weekend maybe you could make the trip?September 11, 2015 at 12:59 pm #67367Richard GordonParticipantThanks for the reply. Wish I could make it out there, but it is just too far. Hope to make it out there next year for a few races. With the current cost of running 2 stroke, the LO206 needs to be promoted as a cost effective entry level class. I see that SBR track is promoting a race ready Ignite LO206 package for under $4k along with a series for these karts. Seems like a wise thing to do to get more people into it. Would love to have TaG karts, but would realistically need to budget $10-15k to get started and run for a season. So far, we have run 2 practice days with the LO206 and it has been great. Got a completely new chassis and engine for under $3k.

Look on the general forum, there’s lots and lots of good info for those starting out. For example, the tips and tricks thread that Adam started this year and other related post/threads. Weights are posted on the Track at Centennial website and LO206 weights are also found on the PPKRC website. Additionally, you can find weight info posted by many folks on this website. Good luck.

Eddy

I have not seen any info on L206 for GJMS specifically though. If I were on the front range there would be no questions issues with what would be legal. I know nothing about GJMS club racing other that race dates and start times.

What little info I have is now posted there. No body replies. I have had a post there for days with no response. They have no forum of their own. Web site has minimal info. No response messaging them in Facebook. Came here hoping someone would see it and answer some of my questions specific to that club/track. Would be great if every track in CO/UT would adopt the same rules for L206, if they don’t already. would sure make things easier for everyone.
My post was the 1st one there since last fall too. Obviously not utilized by anyone. Seems that there are basically no really active forums in CO for karting. I have been posting on here to get most of the info I have pertaining to specifics for this area. Has been very helpful so far. Just hoping to get more answers before the next race.
September 12, 2015 at 2:21 pm #67372Eddy WyattParticipantHello Richard, IMHO, although there isn’t a LO206 specific “Forum” here, there certainly is a lot of info to help get a new karter started. I have wheels and tires you can use to run RTR. Just let me know if you are going to show up so I can make sure I’m there to support you. The class structure as far as the kart chassis size, spec fuel and engine requirements/rules are the same for RTR’s as most everywhere in the country, i.e. IKF and WKA. The only difference as you may know is the spec weight/tires and rear wheel sizes are a bit different 7′ vice 6″. All the LO206 racers at The Track at Centennial are very helpful and would certainly help you get rule compliant to run with us.
Lastly, Colorado is only in it’s second season of LO206 racing at TTAC and it’s going strong but with anything new we’re still working out the kinks. I agree that it would be nice if we could run the same rules everywhere, however, the difference at this point should not be a show stopper. The decision to run the Duro tires and wheel sizes were all aimed at saving money for the entry level karting racer/family. Most believe it is working. The numbers show TTAC is on a good program.
If I can help you with your LO206 questions you can give me a call. 719-591-1854 leave a message if you don’t reach me, I’ll call you back.
Good Luck

Eddy
:coSeptember 12, 2015 at 9:13 pm #67373Richard GordonParticipantThanks for the offer Eddy. Hope to make it out there next season. We just got the kart up and running and my son is just getting up to speed. Wish it was closer as it is a 6 hour drive one way to the Denver area. It is a 2 hour drive to get to GJMS. I’m out in the boonies for sure. I’m all on board with the Duro tires, but I bought a new Margay Brava off of EBay and had no choice of wheels and tires. Stuck with what it came with for now. Figured they would be fine for practice for now. If we do make it over the hill, I will definitely give you a ring. Thanks again, Richard

sorry for the delay we were in Le Mans France for the KZ World Championships and just returned last night. Here is the L206 guidelines.
We would love to have more of the 206 gang join us and if we had a group coming over could do something special for that class for the weekend. Maybe free suit to the winner or a set of tires. Something fun. Let us know we would love to build that class statewide.
Cory Ross has 5 race ready L206 packages available for rent at great prices for our club series if you want more information we can get you in touch direct with Cory.
Maybe some day we can all play together again 🙂
