ParticipantHey Rick don’t forget about me! 😥
Interesting post. At least now I know who landed on top of me.
With the large number of Rotax Masters in both of the first two races, it seems like there is justification for running us in a separate race.

ParticipantHi Mike,
Sorry to hear we won’t be seeing you this season. Be safe. We’ll be thinking of you.

ParticipantYou’ll also need tire mounting tools (unless you can barehand them) because your qualifying/race tires can’t leave parc ferme.

ParticipantHi Andy,
I’m looking forward to seeing all of you at The Track.
BTW, don’t forget to drain your radiators. It could be well below freezing the last few nights of this week. I’ve seen a couple of Rotaxes (not mine!) split open this winter. 😥

ParticipantGo to rmaxchallenge.com, click on the Dealer Locator, and click on South West on the map. CRE, Critical Zone, and Shockwave are listed as dealers there.

ParticipantLarry,
You’re right – the Mojos require a different setup than MGs or Bridgestones. They have a little less grip than the MGs. However, I think they’re a pretty good race tire. A new Mojo is only about .2 sec quicker than a used one, and they don’t go off until they’re completely worn out. And they don’t wear out quickly. That means you can test all day, keep making changes, and you can tell what’s working without worrying about tire degradation.
I think the Mojos will give you a chance to better show your driving skills. Some of the corners that are easy flat out on MGs require a much careful approach on Mojos. Everybody’s fast on easy corners, the better drivers will stand out in difficult ones.
Keep trying changes and you’ll get there. My kart was horrible on Saturday, but by the end of Sunday I’d picked up almost 2.5 seconds and the kart was starting to feel pretty good.

ParticipantHey Andy,
Don’t forget your snowshoes and lots of small jets. 😯

ParticipantI think a refresher on flags and blocking would be a good thing. Blocking when being lapped was a huge problem at the last CSC race at The Track last year. Everybody has to stay more aware of what’s happening behind them as well as in front.

ParticipantStacey,
Congratulations! That’s a great looking facility. I look forward to seeing it soon.

ParticipantSpencer,
I think you’re referring to bearing cassettes.
One place you can get them is Shockwave Karting:

ParticipantIf you start running Spec Miata, better make sure your wallet is full. A friend of mine who used to race Rotax is running Spec Miata and it costs him 5 – 10 times as much as the Rotax to get the Miata running competitively. And you’d better like doing bodywork!

ParticipantGraeme,
I got a lot more wear on the inside edges of the fronts when I ran MZs, so I preferred the FZs.

ParticipantI’d like to see a stock moto heavy class. It would be a logical class for most of the TaG Master guys to run if they want to run shifters. We’re too heavy to be competitive under the current stock moto weight rules.

ParticipantRich,
Wasn’t me. That was Graeme, who bought my kart. Judging by the way it sounded in the last few seconds of the video, he’s got it running pretty well. 😛

ParticipantGraeme,
The weights are 390 lbs for Rotax (as per TAG USA) for CSC and 405 lbs for Rotax Master for the Rotax Max Challenge (see maxchallenge.com).
