    Larry,

You’re right – the Mojos require a different setup than MGs or Bridgestones. They have a little less grip than the MGs. However, I think they’re a pretty good race tire. A new Mojo is only about .2 sec quicker than a used one, and they don’t go off until they’re completely worn out. And they don’t wear out quickly. That means you can test all day, keep making changes, and you can tell what’s working without worrying about tire degradation.

I think the Mojos will give you a chance to better show your driving skills. Some of the corners that are easy flat out on MGs require a much careful approach on Mojos. Everybody’s fast on easy corners, the better drivers will stand out in difficult ones.

Keep trying changes and you’ll get there. My kart was horrible on Saturday, but by the end of Sunday I’d picked up almost 2.5 seconds and the kart was starting to feel pretty good.

I dropped 2 seconds as well from where I started. I plan on dropping a couple more-I wont say what my times are but feel better than I thought I would. Especially as a rookie driver. My only concern at this point is being out there with all of the MG guys and getting punted from behind again.
Maybe Jim will find it in his heart of darkness to separate us.

‘Seek rather not to contend.’ -Master Kan
‘But shall we not then be defeated?’
‘We know that where there is no contention, there is neither defeat nor victory. The supple willow does not contend against the storm, yet it survives. Nor do illusory Mojo tires contend against the obvious MG…only the pavement can know the true Master.

If the Mojos are so slow… Then you’ll be behind all the MG shod karts. Just get used to smelling Castor oil in my Motori7… That’ll be number 27 in the racing program and number one in the hearts of the fans! 8) 😆

    Charles,

    I couldn’t agree more.

When we switched to Mojos I had our MG setup. I put the Mojos on and we were more than 3 seconds slower. I swithed to the setup on the little Mojo sheet and gained about two seconds back. From there we tweaked a bunch of things one at a time until we got another second back putting us close to where we were on MG’s. All the while the tires never degrated, and I started with a year old used set of Mojos! A hundred laps later I found if I changed back to an earlier setup we were turning the same laps times we posted earlier in the day. We find the tire much better for tuning than either the MG’s or Bridgestones.

Currently, I’m thinking I won’t need another set of Mojos until the Nationals. You gotta like that. :sun:

    Hey Mike,

This fan will be watching to see if that speedster you have can hang with the tax’s. If I can’t spot you in the crowded field I’ll just follow my nose to that foul smelling bean burner.

Anyone feel like sharing optimium tire pressures for the MOJO’s? I am just running out of time for testing. It would be very much appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Tom

    Larry,

I put an extra gerbil in the engine but gave him some beano first. Hopefully it won’t smell that bad. Besides, I love the smell of Castor in the morning!

Tom, with that hard of a sidewall you could probably run them flat and not have it roll or debead… You best get testing. It seems like everyone else is tweaking their setups…

    Tom,

Actually they have such a stiff sidewall, you don’t need any air.

    Tom,

We followed the Mojo recommendations (9-11psi). We didn’t see any difference between the low and high.

    Mikie J,

    Is it true?

    Say it aint so?

Did the Rotax Masters lads run faster laps than the MG lads?

    OH MY!

Now lets see if the MOJO’s really do last 1/2 season.

So how was the Motul 800 smelling?

    🙁
    Lessons learned Sunday:
-Like I’ve said many times before, you can’t be at 100% when your tires aren’t at temperature. Or you’ll go off in the Jansen Curve. Ian got a spectacular view! Then you have to start from the very back and race to the front (that, was a lot of fun) 8)
-When people with experience tell you something listen to them! I guess even if a rotor looks good doesn’t mean it is good. Next time I’ll get a cork so when Rick tells me something it doesn’t go in one ear and out the other. Or get used to cheering from the infield!
-Rick’s right in another post; getting by people with different tires and engine packages was a challenge.
-I had a very fast kart, I blew it, lessons (hopefully) learned
-That 16:1 blend of castor would have been a nice perfume for locals and the guys from Cali to inhale… :idn:

No, Scot and Ron showed that’s not the case. But not by very much that’s for sure. I think everyone this weekend proved that the Mojos might require a different driving style but they’re still pretty quick. You just have to learn where to push and where to drive with what the tires give you.

And another thing: Colorado’s got some talent! I think a lot of people were expecting them Cali boyz to run away in classes. I’m very glad to see that this wasn’t the case. They were going home saying, “man, dem Colorado boyz sure can drive!” They’ll be back and (IMO) you’ll see some of the Vegas boyz and other “foreigners” here for the next one.

    Honestly,
I LIKE THEM. (The MoJo’s that is)
    Here’s why:
We mounted new tires for qualifying.
Since we had a whole 1.5 -2 hrs of track time in the last 1 1/2 yrs I aired up the MoJo’s, did my checks and sent Bret of to qualify. (should have checked the stuck powervalve!) Got powervalvue problem found and fixed before the heat race, didn’t bother to check the MoJo’s, he came in complaining about the chassis setup, checked the tires, LEFT FRONT NO AIR! it bleed out of a bead lock.
So the good new…………….No DNF because of flat tire, the MoJo’s will roll with out air! (handle bad, but will roll)
(Just thought someone might get a kick out of what happened)

But here’s the real deal about the MOJO’s.
    1. Everyone is on the same tire, they just have to find a way to make it work for them. I believe the Mojo actually helps make a spec. class a spec. class.
    2. Part of the idea of the Mojo is to help keep cost down.
The MoJo’s seem to last a long time to me.

So at least for me, it’s “much ado about nothing”.

Tom, on pressure for the Arrow B-Max, we like 9lbs.
Do not recommend, RR 9lbs, LR 9lbs, RF 9lbs, LF 0lbs :loony:

well it is probably too late in the season already, but we could just convert TaG for CO to use Mojos or MGs. While I know the MG’s will have more grip the concept of a consistent tire that can last 1/2 of a season is really appealing. Maybe for 2008 we run both classes together with just Mojos :idn:

You would still have weight differences but the driving would be closer (excepting for little things like skill and experience) 😯
