Enjoy the weather guys (72 yesterday!)
That’s not funny, Marc. It is supposed to snow again tomorrow (another 2-4 inches) The hits just keeeep on coming. 7 weeks of snow in a row.

ParticipantHoly Crap Eduardo! I hope you are recovering quickly. I can empathize (sp?) with the screaming, as I did some of my own. I think I will be at the THE MEETING tomorrow. My buddy can watch my daughter for me, I’m looking forward to seeing one of the new Vampire motors at Brad’s shop. Kinda like that kid staring at the puppy in the window, but I digress.
Gimp’s Up!
OK I’ll see you guys at IMI tomorrow.

ParticipantNope, not sitting around at all. I went to work on monday, I can type more easily now and I can wear a headset while on the phone at work. I saw the doc yesterday and my range of motion is better than he expected. I go back in on monday to get the staples yanked (around 20 or 25 stitching up the back of my arm) I am NOT looking forward to that slow torture.
I am not worried about skiing anymore this year but I DO want to see some warm weather so we can all hit the track.

ParticipantThanks, everyone, for the kind words. I am pleased to read the other “i was 35 when I..” stories. It makes me feel like less of an idiot to know I am not a complete moron for even riding the park. There ARE others out there that have similair mental problems at my age.
Charlie..I was at Loveland on one of their big kickers when I crashed. I have skied the super-park at Breck several times with no problems, just giant straight-airs, no tricks. And this is what I was attempting on MLK day..just a straight-air..things just got a little too huge.
Lesson learned: Stick to small(er) jumps on natural terrain only in big pow days. Hard snow sucks.

ParticipantJim,
Thank you for the rules clarification. I’m looking forward to some warm weather to start practising. However, skiing in 10 inches of powder at Copper on Friday has helped with that ‘fast’ feeling that I’ve been missing. Mmmmmmmmm powwwwderrrr. *Homer Simpson voice*

ParticipantThanks for the correction, Doug. I edited my post to reflect the corrected Rotax weight at 360.
Kirk Deason
ParticipantOh ok, thanks for the explanation. I wasn’t thinking about fuel testing when I made my post. I can see how that would complicate testing. I now understand why we have spec one oil.
Kirk Deason
ParticipantIs oil REALLY a performance item that needs to be spec’ed? Is some clown gonna say he lost the race because I ran Maxima 927 and he ran Burris Hi-Rev? That’s ridiculous. That’s right pal, my oil is simply faster. (I do understand the rotax racers running a specific oil because that’s what the manufacturer specifies) outside of the rotaxians, what it the difference?
OR is this more of a sponsorship ($$) question for the tracks or the series?
Kirk Deason
ParticipantMaybe one other person knows what you are talking about, Harry. Better enlighten the rest of us after a post like that. If you are saying something that I think you are saying, the implications are huuuuuuge. Hope you have proof.
Angie, new thread?
Kirk Deason
Participantmy wife even went along with the idea.
You’ve already won.
I can comment on your question about being 35 and what class to run. I just turned 35 this summer and *wanted* to run with the TaG masters class, but, like you, I am a skinny dude at about 155-160lbs. I would have had to have added a total of about 50 or 60 lbs of lead on my kart to make the class minimums. (390 in my case.) Instead, I race in the TaG Senior class. This has been my first year of karting. I, of course, got my a$$ handed to me in the first few races. Finally, after alot of practice and spare parts, I can now avoid being badly embarrassed.
You’ll hear some comments about Masters being more laid back, etc..and it’s true; but I feel a small reward in now being able to at least keep in touch with the younger/faster (?) guys at the back of the TaG Senior class.
I aspire to be a mid-packer. That’s my goal. So far I’m having a blast working my way up to ‘average’.
Welcome.

ParticipantIs the nut holding the clutch a reverse thread or just lock-tited on?
Yeah, ummmmm…turns out the nut holding the clutch IS reverse thread. I paid the price with a stripped nut. Luckily it didn’t strip the threads on the end of the crank. My raceday was ruined anyway, turns out I needed a clutch puller, too. OK, back to the catalog.

ParticipantRoad Runner,
Come to the track on Sunday http://www.thetrack.us, it will be a casual raceday, low stress. Everyone will be happy to chat with you and I’ll bet (if you ask real nice) a few people would be willing to let you drive their karts.
Wiley Coyote in his rocket-power ACME kart will be waiting in ambush.

240 Bucks new. I saw a couple on Ebay for 200. The 60 dollar ones on Ebay are for R/C cars.

ParticipantI’m getting mine blueprinted.
