Hi everyone,
Just seeing if anyone on here has ever sent their Swedetech shifter engine to them for a rebuild and what the cost was? I bought a couple shifters as a bundle a couple weeks ago but i do not really know the history of the kart with that engine in it. The other kart is a Tony Kart and the guy had just rebuilt the top end. I do not know how to do the top end rebuilt but would like to learn. With the bundle i got a bunch of parts including new pistons, rings, bearings etc. Just wasnt sure if its best to send the Swedetech engine off to get it all done and start fresh.
Anyone know any good local shops in Denver area that do it or is it recommended to send directly to swedetech?
Also while im starting a post, the kart frame with the swedetech motor says DFM ICC M3 297. Anyone know anything about this chassis and setup? I can barely find anything on google about that. I can not figure out what year the karts are either. Looking at replacing the RLV pipe but they seem to have years they fit 89-2006 and so on.
thanks!
Ron Rudolph (Ryan’s dad) built all of his shifter motors. Not sure if he is looking for any extra work but you might want to reach out to him and keep it local. They also have a lot of stuff for sale. Let me know if you need contact info.

I predict a FLOOD of low price Rotax offers. You are about to get a heck of a deal. Maybe even with some spares thrown in!

ParticipantYou give me the finger because you know me and my username matches up. You wouldn’t be able to give me the finger if I was hiding behind a name like “bad-mechanic45” and trashing tech guys on the forums.
I like Doug… but you? ..you and I are going to box one of these days. Our fight will start with “Hey I hear Rotax has some new parts again!” Then you’ll say something about my height or how slow I always was and that’s when it will go down. I’ll need a moment to get a ladder for that first punch. :redmen

ParticipantI look forward to seeing real names again. Racerdude7979 doesn’t connect well with seeing someone at the track as well as a username like bob.smith when we introduce ourselves in the scale line or in the pits.
Good luck herding cats, Jeff.

ParticipantMac, a pair of wrestling shoes will work just as well as fancy Alpinestars driving shoes.

Does this mean if I am going to buy one I should wait until they announce this for the US? Seems to me that if I bought one now I would have to replace some key parts to make it compliant. New to the Rotax rules so any recommendations/assistance anyone could provide would be helpful. 🙂
p.s. And to the 206ers. No, I am not moving. Just added to what I already race. 😉
Jeremy, if you bought a Rotax motor with the current EVO upgrades, you would very likely be able to race next season without the parts in the video. US Rotax rules have (in the past) waited an extra year before mandating the new parts to give people time to test and to ensure enough parts are on-hand for dealers and suppliers.
Please contact your local Rotax Max dealer for details. Or, buy an X30. Or–better for your wallet–keep racing the Briggs and enjoy your time at the track and the people you are with. Spend the extra money on a grill and a big cooler.

ParticipantIf you have exhausted every change on the chassis then you could move your seat. Even moving it a centimeter forward or changing the angle of the rear of the seat can greatly change the way a kart handles. If you are struggling to get it to turn, I would move the seat forward a bit. But go back to your baseline settings on the chassis after you move the seat–then you can check to see if it was the seat move or the chassis changes that fixed or made your problems worse. Remember to only make one change at a time.
*disclaimer* I am not a MARGAY specific tuner but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express a few years ago. And I might have been around a few karts over the last few years.

ParticipantThanks for the update, Greg. I’m sure it will be awesome!

Few questions. Do you use the extra class option if you have 2 people signing up? So say my son is running LO206 325, I sign him up for that class at $85 and I want to race the same class, I would put my name in for the extra class at $20? Also, are there any specific safety gear requirements? We have snell 2010 rated helmets, but is anything else required to have a certain certification? Hope this all makes sense.
Hi Richard, I don’t work for the series but I have been around a bit. Your entry for your son’s class would be $85.00 then if *he* was signing up for a second class like rotax junior, then it would be an extra $20.00. Two entries, in this case for you and your son, with one in one each class would very likely be $170.00.
ref your helmet question, there will be a spot on the tech sheet where you mark which helmet certification you have and it gives multiple examples. I am sure if you take your helmet to the tech guy with your tech sheet and 20 bucks he will show you which tag to look for. I’m just kidding about the 20 bucks. He’s easy to spot, tall, ugly, mustache looking fella. His natural habitat is characterized by scales, shade, and any nearby open coolers after the race.

ParticipantHey Mike, can I borrow your 13 mm? no no–just for a minute. CMON MAN!! Do you have an extra beer while I use your tools? Thanks-I’ll getcha back..sometime. ouch this is hot, hey Mike, can I use your gloves? Wait–i think I need a spring puller, Hey Mike, do you have one of those hook thingies?

ParticipantI have a couple spare SRS CR125 motors, pipes, etc. Interested?

ParticipantRodney, you are WAY off base! it’s 300k to win, not 30, the 100cc class will be aircooled reed or rotary, no watercooling, and the min weight will be 335. Everything else is correct. Tony’s people haven’t gotten back to me about his contract provisions requiring blue m&m’s and a prom dress in XL.

ParticipantI also keep seeing vague platitudes of ‘racing will continue’ or ‘plans for next year’ but…what does that mean? Is TheTrack moving? or new owners?
Kirk Deason
ParticipantHe’s only 50 votes behind the first place guy. That’s like .2 in lap times in the real world. Tony need the web equivalent of a racing stripe or flames or chrome. Or–we could support him and keep voting.
