ParticipantFew questions. Do you use the extra class option if you have 2 people signing up? So say my son is running LO206 325, I sign him up for that class at $85 and I want to race the same class, I would put my name in for the extra class at $20? Also, are there any specific safety gear requirements? We have snell 2010 rated helmets, but is anything else required to have a certain certification? Hope this all makes sense.

Hi Richard, I don’t work for the series but I have been around a bit. Your entry for your son’s class would be $85.00 then if *he* was signing up for a second class like rotax junior, then it would be an extra $20.00. Two entries, in this case for you and your son, with one in one each class would very likely be $170.00.
ref your helmet question, there will be a spot on the tech sheet where you mark which helmet certification you have and it gives multiple examples. I am sure if you take your helmet to the tech guy with your tech sheet and 20 bucks he will show you which tag to look for. I’m just kidding about the 20 bucks. He’s easy to spot, tall, ugly, mustache looking fella. His natural habitat is characterized by scales, shade, and any nearby open coolers after the race.

ParticipantAhh, OK, that is what I was thinking but was not sure. So I should do 2 separate entries. Pretty sure our helmets are OK being snell 2010, but didn’t know if the other stuff like suits and gloves need some sort of certification. Also are specific type of neck devices required?

ParticipantThis almost kills me to say this but Kirk is right……About some of what he said. The $20 bucks is a great gesture and always welcomed, I’m not sure ugly fits I think weathered/rugged is more politically correct, doesn’t really matter because I’m not looking for a date! I’m actively in the “cut the overhead mode” in 2016 😀
Thanks Kirk for the profile

ParticipantOK, found the link to tech info. I might have a problem with the brake rotor bolts. Neither of our karts has double lock nuts, keys, safety wire, etc. Will need nuts that are drilled or something. don’t think there is enough clearance for double nuts and the bolts aren’t long enough anyway. Also would need a cable for the brake rod on one kart. I don’t have the stuff to fix this and the closest kart shop is 2 hours away. anyone at the track going to have spare parts for sale? I might get out to GJMS for a test session before the race and can see if they have the correct length and size of bolts to do the rotors. My karts aren’t Energy or CRG so not sure. I pretty much live in the middle of no where and have very limited resources at my disposal. I also have no way to cross drill bolts to do safety wire. want to race, but want to make sure the karts are up to spec before hauling everything out there too.

Participantrichard… i’m certain there will be someone there who can help you get your kart(s) up to speed as far as tech goes. I wouldn’t let that keep you from going. you may not get a lot of feedback from the site, but again, i can guarantee someone will be able to help out.

ParticipantRichard, iirc didn’t you say you had a Margay? And wasn’t it like a newer version? If so I have a Brava 4.15 and it passes all tech I have raced in both series without any issues. If I am incorrect in remembering please disregard.
But yes, someone should be able to get you all setup.

ParticipantAwesome. Will sign up for sure then. Yes, my son’s kart is a 2013 Margay 4.11. My kart is a 2012 Exprit OTK. Figured someone will have the stuff I need. Still have to get some tires for one kart too.
