ParticipantQuote:I don?t see Kirk Deasons name on any of the TAG results from this season so where are you coming from? If you want more laps try going to a CSC race and racing.Quote:take is easy Brad, I am just offering a different opinion. I did run at Greeley and had a blast but am still recovering from the financial shock of my first kart, trailer, tools, etc and do not have the 500 bucks (roughly) per weekend of racing right now. I’m still having fun practising. Thanks for the encouragement and don’t get your panties in a wad if someone has a different opinion on here. :argueI’ve been reading about the conflicts, arguments and whining for a couple of years, it can’t hurt the matter to have one more opinion. Let’s continue this discussion in a positive light.
Honestly, I agree with you, Brad…we Colorado karters ARE spoiled by many good tracks…When I read Curt’s post about including UTAH in the series, I immediately thought of MMP and their new track. THAT is what made me start thinking about expanding the series and thus PKC. I guess there is no reason the CSC couldn’t include MMP as a championship round or final round, etc.

ParticipantI believe the CSC SHOULD switch to the Prokart Series.
Let the tracks try to be ‘all things to all people’ by offering the Briggs and Junior classes which the PK series lacks. Have a rotating schedule among the tracks where the Briggs motors are the first weekend of the month, juniors-the third, etc. I know this would require a couple of track owners to put aside some bitterness, but gee whiz guys, no one said you had to hold hands and prance happily thru the flowers..just agree on a dang schedule!
Smaller numbers of classes will equal more tracktime, bang for buck, etc. THAT is why PKC is successful; they quit trying to squeeze 39 classes into 12 hours. It is no one’s FAULT that the CSC tried to make everyone in the flippin world have their own class and race on a state (regional?) level. In fact, it is commendable; and I hope we all remember to thank the current organizational leadership. Now let’s offer constructive commentary on why the CSC should and should not switch. Democracy in action.
I am for the series having a ‘mountain region’ of the Prokart series because I drive a TaG kart and there is a place for my kart. I have never been to one of their races in california so obviously I have no first hand experience, BUT i haven’t read or heard a bad word…they must be doing something right.
Some will slam me for blabbing without knowing wtf I’m talking about because i haven’t been around racing that long. I’ve been reading this forum every day for 3 years. Maybe a fresh opinion isnt a bad thing.
Fewer classes/more track time. I say yes.

ParticipantThe fetzer valve is right below the ball bearing catch basin. I’ve seen one located out by the barn, next to the rope stretcher. Hope you find it! Get me a snipe net while you are out there.

Turbo for the Biland?!!! Where do I get one?
Here is an interesting thread started by Colorado’s own Charlie Schiendzlos (sp? sorry chuck) back in 04.

Also, ask Brad at IMI, he may have some connections or a web address. Per the discussion (above) the engine put out 65hp in ‘production’ form (with a turbo, i assume). That is kicking that silly little wankel thingy into the dirt. Heyyyyyy, maybe this ‘unlimited’ racing might have some legs? Anyone with lots of money wanna sponsor me? OK, let me rephrase: Will anyone with this much money allow me to work on their kart?
Mitch, I’m sure as a Biland owner you have visited this guy’s site but he has LOTS of good info and connections with the manufacturer. http://www.lumenique.com (kevin willmorth)
Brad..do you have any leads or info about a turbo?
Kirk Deason
ParticipantCmon Rich, you are just trying to stir up the hornets’ nest again. You know this wild engine will NOT become a class that races, at least until Brad creates some kind of outlaw ‘unlimited’ class where anything goes. Turbo Biland? sounds like a good addition to the outlaw class along with a 450 4-stroke. Kidding, but seriously anyone who can afford one is probably buying it with the intention of having it as a ‘fun’ motor, and not with the idea of trying to force it into the CSC.
Kirk Deason
Participant5 or 6 grand and YOU TOO can have one of these monster motors! I saw someone (not sure if it was brad or not) driving it at IMI and I was blown away. Brad says he passes shifters almost at will. What an impressive engine.

ParticipantThanks Charles! That’s the kind of tip I was looking for! Just something to get me started in the right direction. Much appreciated.

ParticipantFollow up question: Why do you need to change them if they are hard? They still flow fuel the same way whether the line is hard or soft, right? I can understand if the line is brittle and ready to break, but seriously…3 or 4 times a year for replacement?
*sigh* more spares…. (yes i know it is pretty cheap compared to some stuff)

ParticipantBrad, admittedly, I am running older tires; MG Yellows with about 100 laps on them. (maybe more).
Point taken, ref new tires. For sake of my budget reality, lets assume i will continue to run shagged tires and I know that if I tune using old tires, new tires will turn my careful setup on its head. This is my FIRST chassis change, ever.

ParticipantI have an issue with my money tree…not sprouting like it should. My first foray into karting has pulled every leaf and last dollar bud off of the tree. Oddly, it isn’t regenerating. Today I spent another 80 bucks (roughly) on brake pads and a new sprocket carrier. I need to stop crashing and taking soil samples.
love the sport, though. I am working overtime at work to try to keep the mastercard thugs from tracking me down.
Looking back…lots of people said dont get a tag kart as your first kart. Well, i regret nothing. The speed and G’s are a hoot and I am getting better every time out. It took me awhile to realize that while ‘dirt tracking'(sliding) around every turn was fun…it really isnt the fastest way around. Like i said…i’m learning each time out.
Greeley was a blast and made me realize how bad i suck. Well, not really. I knew i sucked before i went 😛 . I’m on a club racing budget and I have a club ‘outlook’. I’m already looking forward to a new chassis but I do NOT blame my equipment no matter how many people tell me that my Easykart is not competetive. (frankly, that opinion has disappointed me a bit and makes me want to beat a few rotaxes and leopards..i use comments like that as motivation)
For next year…hmmmm, I have no suggestions for the CSC. But for the shops…I am suprised that someone doesnt bring a trailer with a few spares to sell on race days. Weights, sprockets, various metric hardware, chains, nerf bars, throttle cables?? Just a thought.
I enjoy the sport and i love the camraderie. Everyone in the pits is willing to help if they are able. For that i thank everyone who has given me advice, lent parts, and helped me lift my kart.
I’ll see some of you next weekend. I’ll be practising to kick some leopard and rotax A** at THE TRACK with my underpowered engine on a low tech chassis.

ParticipantSerious question NOT related to umbrella girls (this time):
Ref: the pits opening at noon on Friday for Greeley, does that mean we have from noon until 10PM to arrive and register and setup?
Question #2: I have an open trailer, can i leave my kart and trailer onsite for the weekend? Yes, I will lock it down. I just dont want to tow it back and forth from denver each morning/night.
Thanks
Kirk

Participantnow hold on a sec..both you AND Ben are claiming some fun times with this chickita? I think she only exists in karting mythology as ‘the girl in the poster’. Ben claims she’s real. I really HOPE that my ‘promised’ umbrella girls will come through or I’ll never hear the end of it from you guys.
Hey Curt…Tell us more about the umbrella girls that you mentioned. Bronco Cheerleaders? http://www.umbrellagirls.com ? UNC girls rugby team?
Can you tell that I have the ‘club racer’ mentality that you guys were mentioning earlier? I’m hitting the GGP to have a BLAST and so far it looks like it will deliver. I’m not going there to win anything and I just hope I don’t break anythingThanks to all who have worked so hard to put this race together!
Kirk Deason
ParticipantJansen…Apple already accepted the invite to my party…no, you can’t come. I have to maintain some standards, i hope you understand. I can’t have any of you old guys having a heart attack at my house when the late night lingerie pillow fight starts.
Kirk Deason
Participantwait wait wait….UMBRELLA GIRLS??? awwwww nuts. I thought TEAM HARDKart was going to be unique in showing up with umbrella hotties? Well, the more the merrier!
I HOPE that outside umbrella girls will be welcomed to the grid without any union issues. The last thing we need is an umbrella girl pillow fight (well, we don’t want that on the grid, at least.) I will be hosting an umbrella girl party Sunday night (leave the kids at home), girls, bring your own pillows.

ParticipantDavid…I got third?? HAHAHA. That reveals that there must have been THREE guys in my class. I have resolved to practice more.
Yeah I packed up and headed home when the wind started, dang..I guess I’ll have to stick around next time!
Well…I’ll just have to begin my (soon to be impressive) resume with ‘Podium in my first TaG race’, hahahahah.
Thanks for thinking of me, that info gave me a big smile here at work.
