It was a good turn out. I have expected more but I think Jim wanted to keep it low key. I don’t kow the count but most race groups have 15 to 20 karts.

Results for todays race are up on mylaps.com

You can check out Mylaps.com for the easter turnout at IMI.

For the very first race it went very smooth (great job “Track” workers); just imagine what it will be like when Jim arrives at what he had envisioned for The Track…..

I went to the race as spectator (Still working on my Kart Seat Setup) and I was very impressed with the organization and the over all presentation. Jim did a great Job with the Centennial Track. I am looking forwart to try it out.

What about some comments from the Drivers?

    Ben,

Glad to hear it ran smooth with 49 entries.

Ben: I am still unemployed and we have put our home on the market. The neighborhood has been going downhill the past few yrs. So we want to take our profit and move to a townhome in Longmont. Therefore, I have cut my racing dates down. The cuts will come at Bandi, The Track and GJ. I go to IMI because I still have aligence to it as my home track and CRE because of the Rotax Max series. It was a busy weekend clearing out 28 yrs of junk from my garage.

It has finally come to Colorado karting: Because of the The Track coming on board racers are now to the point of pick and choose what, when and how much money they want or can spend. So everything will be diluted! Both positive and negative results.

Jim will do an awesome job at the track as he has done in the past. I will make it down there but a little later.

Now if Apple was going to make an appearance I might have come down!

    Rich,

Jim’s team put on a pretty smooth running program. There were a few bobbles (the shifter kart start had a few hiccup’s)

They awarded free test and tune vouchers! ($35.00 value)

Contrary to previous post’s, there was plenty of passing, no one stuffed a culvert, the day went very smooth. The weather was barely avoided. Some lost camopies due to a few wind burst’s.

And yes if you did get off course, you were not going to simply drive back on, which makes you face a penalty for dropping a tire etc… The hill is a great place to view the circut (reminds me of Cdr Raceway’s for you old timers) For the most part tire wear is incredible although did see one blistered tire but this driver was running a stock moto ahead of all spec and built moto’s as well as every Icc but one, a pretty impressive performance to say the least.

Saw a lot of new faces which is great!

Jim, good job! Please get more trash can’s.

Hopefully the Csc will great numbers this year!

Rich…maybe Jim didn’t NEED to advertise..If you build it, they will come. This was my first race. I had a great experience. Luckily I pitted next to Greg (mod moto–59yrs young) who had all the tools that I now realize I need. Greg’s wife was kind enough to let my 4 yr old daughter take up semi-residence in their 5th wheel slice of pit-paradise. Extra thanks to all the others who loaned me bolts and lead for my sled.

I raced my Easykart in the TaG class and had a blast. I suck, but I accomplished my goal of not taking anyone out with a stupid move. I think I obeyed the waving blue flag well and gave room for faster traffic.

Thanks to Jim, Ben, Ed, Angie, et al. for a great experience. Ian the tech guy and grid guy didn’t make me feel like an idiot when I had the clueless stare of ‘what now?’ He helped me out. Thanks Ian.

Kind words Rick, we appreciate it.

One of the things we hoped to demontrate this weekend is that just because we call it stock moto, doesn’t mean that its slow. I have no delusions that a stocker will ever be the outright winner in a combined class like we ran this past weekend. The ICC delivers more power and it is smoother in its delivery.

The other thing I hope it demonstrates is how little out right power affects lap times and how important it is for a good driver and a quality setup in the kart. A good ICC engine produces at least 5 to 7 more hp than a stock moto. Yet we ran in front of most of them. We had the kart set up for acceleration. Greg was pulling the front tires off the ground on many corners. We may not of had a lot of hp, put we tried to put every one of them to use!

But for the average karter on a budget, this is a great class to go fast with. I made only one jet change all weekend and I expect to do zero maintenance on the engine all year! At a cost of $3,200 for a complete engine package, this is the class most shifter racers should take a long hard look at. I hope we get so many guys in it we have to have a light and heavy class.

    Kirk,

you left too early. You dont suck because you got third place in tag masters. I didnt see u on the podium :idn: . Jim says that the trophies are going to be there on tuesday. You should go and pick yours up and your certificate.

David…I got third?? HAHAHA. That reveals that there must have been THREE guys in my class. I have resolved to practice more.

Yeah I packed up and headed home when the wind started, dang..I guess I’ll have to stick around next time!

Well…I’ll just have to begin my (soon to be impressive) resume with ‘Podium in my first TaG race’, hahahahah.

Thanks for thinking of me, that info gave me a big smile here at work.

    Good morning all.
More trash cans on the way.
All the racers get to “test/tune” prior to race day, however the Track never gets a “practice” race. The show is “ON or OFF”.
We (I) used the first race as my “test/tune” for the rest of the season.
1st and foremost, the hot grid layout, general organization, flagger placements, and overall track safety.
Angie and the Track staff, Ed, Carolyn, Matt G., Ben, as well as Ian and the flaggers that helped did an outstanding job.

Rich, I didn’t put out any “fanfare” because I feel that the racers that actually come to the event should get the fanfare.
All promotion for anything at The Track happens on The Tracks website.

FM broadcast on the way, more PA speakers for the hundreds of spectators that showed up thru-out the day, and maybe a huge “on ground” banner for all the jets that all called me that afternoon wondering what was going on as they were landing…
    Thanks again to the racers.
On a tech note… This first race was “very lax!!!” simply due to the huge number of new racers. This was your opportunity to get used to the system.
Spec tire (MG Yellow FZ) as well as fuel and oil will be enforced as if its a CSC race. More details to follow.
Now, on with the curbing, fuel depot, red bull cross-over… (the list goes on and on)

Hope to see you June 4th.

    Jim
