ParticipantI usually try to stay in a neutral corner with things that do not apply to me, however, this one hits too close to home to stay quiet. So excuse me while I voice my personal opinion.
We ran in the 60 novice class two seasons ago, and our campaign went very well until the Steamboat Springs GP. Matt had won all but two races that year, GJ crash and CRE lower end grenade. We had the RM SKUSA Region division in the bag. I could not find a KX 60 OEM piston so I bought a Wiesco piston and we went to the boat. We were not fast that day due to the Wiesco piston, but Matt out drove the field with his God gifted talent. Kept his motor running during a crash that took all the leaders out and we won the final. The competition felt they could find something not OEM in a 1994 KX 60 moto motor, and low and behold there was the Wiesco part. (Go figure) DQ, bummed out, Matt did not speak to me all the way home, and then the iron fist of our past leader came down with a 400 point penalty. In fact I think it was 410 or 415, just enough to allow the cry baby his championship.
I tell this story again because it hit us hard. I protested, bitched to everyone, and went into winter pissed off. I since have come to some understanding that there were written rules, even in black and white. I knew better, even though I felt it was very unfair in our penalty of point deductions.
We all got over it in time, and we will never again be DQ’d for anything that has been written and goverened. We have become better sports and try to help others, even in our own class, to run fair with free advice before the iron fist hits them in the gut. Sometimes they even listen, and sometimes they get the DQ.
The SKUSA rules are written in your class with respect to tires, OEM parts, porting, head milling, head volumn, exhaust restrictors… The CSC does follow SKUSA as determined by the teams over a year ago!
My opinion: Your kart was louder, faster, and down right not legal from my vantage point as spectator. Fix it, get over it, and go kick some butt the right way. Every other team in your class is playing fair and they deserve a level playing field at this age.

ParticipantMansfield Family,
Our hearts are saddened by this news. It’s not easy to loose a family member and you need to know all the Colorado karters are here for you.We lost my older brother to a mototcycle addident two weeks after Matt was born 15 years ago. We will always miss him, but the thought of him loosing his life doing what he truly loved brought us some comfort.
You are in our thoughts and prayers…….

ParticipantThe nights are still dropping low enough to freeze your radiators, and cylinders. Better anti freeze up for cheap insurance on those shifter and tag motors.

ParticipantBetter stick to the Powder Puff race Jim, the tuners know better than to get me in a kart again. 😯 🙂 👿
If there are any true novice tuners out there, Im in.
Just leave me a little opening on the back straight

ParticipantI guess people will drive countless hours just to get it handed to them. Who ever does come, I am sure they will have a blast, and see some of the best scenery in the world. :loony:

ParticipantWhen we were running in the 60 shifter class we ran VP C12 with castor 926 mix. I shared some fuel with one of our competitors who had an aluminum fuel tank on their kart. Carrio’s test found their fuel hot, and our’s was right on the center of the mark. Point is, there are many variables that will affect the outcome of the test. The metal fuel tank in the hot sun that day cost these guys some undue stress. You just never know until the sniffer goes in the tank.
Like I stated on a previous fuel post last month, CSC runs to SKUAS rules, and there is a SKUSA fuel section written and regulated at all pro-moto events. There are no CSC addendum rules that override the SKUSA fuel sections.
We have run VPC12 bought from Big T, 30 gallon drums at a time. Never had a problem with Stars or SKUSA and have no problems with CSC. Depending on how much racing and testing you do in a season, this is the way to go. It allows me more time to worry about other things like where my cigars are.
By the way, in Euorpe it’s Al-U-MIN-U-AN fuel tank. 😕

ParticipantBlink,
Is the main road off 232 going to be open this Sunday? We have some folks coming that have never been there, so any alternate routs you can post would be appreciated.
Thanks

ParticipantDoug at Shockwave Karting should be able to help you. If your wheels have a different diameter than he has, try Whistler Bearing in Commerce City. Just bring a bearing to them and they will find the perfect match.
Sorry I do not have any phone numbers at this time.

ParticipantChuck,
My official position was 10 laps ahead of you, Rodney should have been DQ’d due to him running a 125 shifter last season at CRE, Rich should have been DQ’d just because he had his own helmet and driving suit, his wife will never weigh 150 pounds in her life, so there’s my 2 cents. All kidding aside, I had a blast and appreciate all the heckling, even Doug’s.
I would be more than happy to coach any of you real karters on what the “Fast” way around the track really is. 🙄
The fast laps times show it all, get over it Rod :idn:
Looking forward to the next challenge. CK

ParticipantFor any Jr.1, or Comer families moving into Jr. 80 shifter, don’t forget to look at all the Hot Deals in the classified section of this site.
I personally know of one of the cleanest, fastest, most competitive, easy driving, good looking, many extras, national winner, track winner, maybe state winner 80 shifter karts in the region.
Gotta go bump something to the top of the list now.
I approve of this message. 😀

ParticipantChuck, and all other Friday racers,
I do not think Jim is going to tech tires, fuel…
If we were going to run,(Matt is in school already) I would get the “B” compound or even “A” just to help him keep the kart off the Pro-Tech barriers and hay bails.
There is not going to be much passing in any class, it’s a fun race on a fun track with lots of people watching, nothing else.A great way to just have a fun day in our normally stressful sport of kart racing. 😛
See you all down there. I will be lending a hand to “The Track” crew.
