After the event I even drove a kart for the very first time!! Jim’s new rentals are terrific, and the track is so fun.
For those of you planning on racing in next Friday’s exhibition event…. You are going to have fun putting on a show for the spectators. Jim has done an amazing job putting this scaled down version of the “big Grand Prix track” all together. I would encourage you all to go out and get a preview of the track in a rental sometime this week! (discount coupon in the new The Colorado Karter newsletter!)

August 12, 2004 at 12:15 am #47276AnonymousInactiveA last minute question.
I might be able to make it this friday. Is it possible to register on site in the morning? Or, do we need to pre-register?
Thanks!
August 12, 2004 at 12:19 am #47277Angie MacEwenParticipantYou can show up and register. Letting us know here that you may attend is helpful. Gates open at 6am, practice at 8am!

August 12, 2004 at 2:09 am #47279AnonymousInactiveCurt,
I saw on another post where you said to bring some “high grip” tires. Is there a tire rule? If not I won’t buy a set just for this race.
thanks,
ChuckAugust 12, 2004 at 3:39 pm #47280Curt KistlerParticipantChuck, and all other Friday racers,
I do not think Jim is going to tech tires, fuel…
If we were going to run,(Matt is in school already) I would get the “B” compound or even “A” just to help him keep the kart off the Pro-Tech barriers and hay bails.
There is not going to be much passing in any class, it’s a fun race on a fun track with lots of people watching, nothing else.A great way to just have a fun day in our normally stressful sport of kart racing. 😛
See you all down there. I will be lending a hand to “The Track” crew.
CurtAugust 14, 2004 at 3:52 pm #47281Angie MacEwenParticipantThe turnout was light, as expected, due to the scheduling of the event. But those that could come out seemed to really have a good time! Those of you who missed it, missed seeing me drive a kart and lose the Tuner Challenge bad! But it was sure a blast!
So you want to know who showed up? And who won what?
Too bad – I’m not tellin’
August 14, 2004 at 4:06 pm #47282Angie MacEwenParticipantOnly kidding, here they are…..
http://www.thecoloradokarter.com/results/gpresults.htm
We did not get times for the Kid Kart main because the Shifters tore up the scoring wire! The kids were saved for last as the feature event, and results were hand scored! so I gave you thier qualifying times.
It was a great day! The spectators were fascinated by the whole thing, and the line for rentals after the event was incredible. You could here the “big boys” going by, even while out on the track driving.
Thank you to all who took the time, and made the effort, to come down and put on a show!

August 14, 2004 at 5:07 pm #47283AnonymousInactiveThanks to all who put on this event.
Well organized and lots of fun!!!!!!!
There is still some trash talking going on at my house between tuner Dad and Mom.
Thanks again for one of the best times I have had at a race track yet!

August 15, 2004 at 12:14 am #47284AnonymousInactiveJim and all the workers who made the event,
What an organized event by Jim-very professional. The lay out, barriers, corner workers, timing, everything.
Professional: when I saw a corner worker pull out the hand held blower and blew off that far hairpin-that is professional.
Jim I think you should run the CSC next year! I am looking forward to your track!
High grip tires, holy cow we were on ice skates. I was dirt tracking and I just loved it.
This was one time I felt like the kart was hooked up and running well till the final. After I hit a barrier it just would not start-a second place finish down the tubes in the Tag.
Guys you missed a great event. Even the Champ pit guys were stoping by on the way to the track admiring our karts.
Next year: the rumor is they are looking at a larger Tivoli parking lot to the West that has lights-run later in the night and the track would by longer than 0.25 mi maybe a 0.6 mi with a 850′ back stretch. Also this could be one of the CSC races. Centrix loves what Jim has done.
Book it Jim.
thanks!!!!
 :sun: 😀
August 15, 2004 at 1:57 pm #47285AnonymousInactiveThanks to Jim, Angie, and all the others who put the time in to make this a fun day. Even Curt. Not sure what his official position was. :bs:
The turn out was disappointing and the people that missed this missed out on a good time. This has the makings of being something good for the future.
Thanks again,
Chuck
http://DustinCourter.comAugust 15, 2004 at 2:58 pm #47286Rodney EbersoleParticipantHay, why was that 4 stroke novice guy in front of them shifter pilots the entire race? 😯
I had a good time. I don’t think the track needs to have any longer straights. If it’s longer put some more corners in it too.August 17, 2004 at 3:57 am #47287Mike EdwardsParticipantAngie……….Why on earth did you post the times from the Tuners Race? You must have made a mistake, how could I have been 2-3 seconds slower than my kids?…………I know, it must have been the tires, motor, or maybe Rich was cheating, yea that’s it he’s was cheating, HOT FUEL! I think he should be stripped of his CROWN.
