Yikes! Sounds like your legs have seen better days! I guess it could be worse, eh? 😯

Well, since this has more or less taken me out of working for a while, i’ll be focusing on recovery, big time (guess i got nothing else to do, right? 😉 ). That’s what everyone says is so important. Not only do i want to get back into the kart ASAP, but i’d kinda like to get back to a normal life….considering i havent walked under my own power for 2 months now. 😛

    Well, i’m in my 2nd year….and still havent bought a trailer. 8)

We use my mom’s Town & Country minivan (they actually make great trucks with the rear seats removed!). We only have to take the sidepods and rear wheels off to fit the kart in the van (put a heavy duty moving blanket down first). After a few attempts, we were able to get the packing sequence down pretty well (its like playing Tetris :loony: ). Just make sure you set stuff on top of the kart (if you have to) carefully!. My Dad and i have gotten it down to about only a 30 minute teartown/setup of most of our stuff, which isnt too bad.

…..however, its still a huge pain in the butt. A Subaru is a bit smaller on the inside though, and i’d bet it would be tough. Over time, you’ll accumulate more and more stuff. If you can, get a trailer, i really wish we had one.

For your consideration, his infamous duel with Ren? Arnoux in 1979 at Dijon.

One of the best on track battles i’ve ever seen courtesy of one of the best and fastest ever.

    RIP Gilles, you are missed.

So, the MoJos are the world’s first Run Flat Karting tire? Cool. 😉

Awesome! Can’t wait to try out Rmax for this first time this year, thoroughly looking forward to it. 🙂

Next question; who’s in what classes?

Speaking from experience, I wouldnt buy something overly new/nice when you’re first starting out. Chances are, you’ll beat it up fairly well, and why bother beating up something nice new and shiny (and expensive), especially if you’re not really planning to race the first year?

A good used package is the way to go for a noob, but not too old and in decent shape (duh). Also, make sure you have a pretty good idea of how many hours are on a given engine you’ll buy, could come back and bite you if you don’t (once again, speaking from experience. but like Rick pointed out, the Rotax is a fantastically durable engine). The learning curve is very steep at first, but it’l flatten out eventually. Just asking questions is one of the best things you can do. And it’s racing, so you’ll probably get frustrated with it at times, but just stick with it….it’s worth it. 8)

There’s just so very, very much to learn in this sport. Hell, i’ve been in it for about a year and a half, and i still haven’t graduated from the noob school yet. 😛

If anything, id say that JPM is beginning to emulate the great Mario Andretti. Lets count em…

1999 CART Champ & Rookie of the Year
    2000 Indy 500 Champ
7 F1 wins (and fought for the title on about 3 occasions)
    2007 Daytona 24 hours Champ

    And counting…..

His versatility reminds me of Mario. Wont be shocked if he gives LeMans and Sebring a go, either. He’s a hell of a racer, and he’ll blitz the NASCAR crowd just as he blitzed everyone else. Love him or hate him, he’s a great driver, and while i’m kinda sad to see him leave F1, i cant wait to see him show the NASCAR boys how it’s all done (hes already running with the top 10). Mark my words, it will happen, and most likely this year.

Scary thing is, JPM has actually got me paying attention NASCAR. 😯

Too bad we don’t get Top Gear here in the states in all its glory and have to watch it via the internet. Far and away, the best show on TV, and you just saw one of the reasons why. 8)

    Two questions…

Has the issue of FWB in TaG been resolved yet?
    and
    What happened to Steamboat? :idn:
