Sounds like the plan is a casual series on Thursday evenings. Just for fun, minimal rules/class structure, varied formats and track layouts. Sounds super fun to me, I’ll be doing it in whatever kart I manage to scrape together any particular week.

I’m with you, that sounds awesome!

Awesome news! I’m super stoked that someone has been able to keep the doors open, and especially so that it’s someone so capable of running a great track.

Now, what’s got me really intrigued is the idea of a weekly (week day?) racing series, as mentioned in the press release. I’d love to know the details behind that…i’ve always thought that a week day racing series would be great.

I’ll be visiting the new/old place soon, I hope!

Let’s get this hype train going! Real infrastructure improvements would be a great addition to an already great track. Can we fast-forward to January? The suspense is killing me!

Fingers crossed, Cris. That would be great!

What’s plan B? Kickstarter? Crowd-funded go kart track? Country Club-style? Anyone hit the lottery recently?

Wow, nice find, Cris. That says a lot about the current situation. 😯

The rumors appear to be true, sadly…..

This is pretty shocking, at least to me. I was unable to race this past season (due to being unemployed), so I was excited to get back in the mix next year. ‘Plans are in process’ for next year, but what does that mean? I sure hope TTAC continues on in another form or guise, because i know that i’m not the only one who’s gutted by this ‘news’!

What the heck is going on? :anyone

The EKN article is awesome, lots of really good tips in there. I’m certainly guilty of a few! 😯 Thanks for posting.

    No takers on this yet?

Well, i’d love to be involved in some tire testing. I have a Mychron 4 system with GPS, too, so I could hopefully bring some useful data to the party.

Transparency is awesome for something like this! Should only help make the class friendlier and easier to access for new guys.

    This is a tricky question…

On one hand, the Duros have been awesome considering the value-per-dollar. Tire budgets in general are out of control in karting, so having a single set that could last an entire season was nothing short of mind-blowing. Also the fact that a used set isn’t any slower than a new set is a breath of fresh air for those of us racing on an actual budget.

On the other hand, the grip levels leave a bit to be desired, and they do make the karts handle like lumbering ‘ol rentals (at least mine does). It’s also frustrating having to deal with tires that are all different circumferences in one set, there’s obviously some QC that you are missing out on with a ‘cheap’ tire. I’d love to inject a bit more corner speed into the class, though with more grip that might make the karts easier to drive. Good or bad?

However, as others have pointed out, the entire ethos of the class is low cost, and the Duros only help drive that point home. I think it shows in the class counts, too. I don’t really have an issue staying on the Duros in the future, but I think it’s probably worth exploring our options. As long as we can find a tire that offers zero performance advantage with a new set, we’ll be ok. The last thing we need is people trying to out-spend the next guy on tires in a class where a new engine is under $1000. :loco

I still want to test a WF on the tires. What a “driver’s class” it would be with double the HP on the same tire!

Now we’re talking! I love this class, but man straights sure do take a while. I feel like I probably have enough time to check twitter before I have to start thinking about turning in…

Cool! I was bummed that I couldn’t make this year’s event, its always a great way to kick off the season. Looks like the turnout was good even with the snow.

Good luck Christian! Doesn’t get much more serious than the Winter Cup, that’s the big time for sure. :co :usa:

It could jut open to any tire, new or used?

Don’t see much issue with that! Rainy conditions would probably be a bigger factor than who’s got the ‘better’ tire, anyways. Besides, i’ve got a couple sets that haven’t seen use in a while…never seems to rain on race day!

Well just like that, Briggs has released2015 regulations for the LO206. Though, not much has changed…

    Per the press release…

The only ‘significant’ change, we are mandating the use of the 808656 fuel pump that ships with every engine. “We are just seeing too many issues from racers using pumps outside the design of the carburetor that can be prevented. In addition, our racers told us they wanted to move the pump around so this has been addressed without going over the top.”
