ParticipantNational Weather’s Service’s forecast
NWS preticts a 10% chance of rain on sunday after 3pm, no rain on saturday. *crosses fingers* please please dont let it rain! Not only have i never raced in it, but i dont have rain tires.
But 10%? I like those odds. 8)

ParticipantGranted i’ve never driven a kart in the rain before, but i hear that it’s a great way to fine tune your skills in the dry. My vote is for yes, i’d like to try it.

ParticipantAlso, as per the rules….

Wow! Glad to hear it didnt happen!
Funny thing, almost the exact same thing happened to our house a few years back. Burned a hole in our kitchen wall, and we had to live in a hotel for 6 months. Fun times (not really). 😕

ParticipantWell, I’m one of the newbies (1st year in karting, period) that everyone speaks of, and I didnt hesitate to join the CSC. Maybe i’m just wierd/naive? :idn:
All I know is, I want to go karting! 8)

ParticipantWell, I got out to The Track yesterday and turned my first laps. What an awesome track! It’s an enormously fun, twisty, technical track. And I likes me a technical track. As some people have mentioned, you really have to be concentrating on your line to drive it properly, but once you get it down and get into a rythem, it becomes really enjoyable. And, man, is that last corner onto the straight a rush! It’s going to be a tough track to pass on, come race day.
And to top it all off, it was a completely problem free day for us…which is probably a first! 😀
Big thanks to Jim for building such a great track!

ParticipantKind of off topic, but what do people think about tear-offs? I figure they might be useful due to all of the dirt/oil/etc kicked up by your fellow competitors in a race.

ParticipantWe need more details! How is it to drive? Is it pretty technical? Looks like it is. How about gearing? I’ve heard alot of different opinions on what gearing would be. Some say its close to Bandi. Is the track completely finished (as in the runoff reasonably landscaped)?
I cant wait to try out the track! Early forcasts are predicting near 70 degrees on saturday, so I hope to be out then! 8)

ParticipantActually, I just asked Angie that question earlier in the week. Here’s what she said…

The rule says Snell K-98, M95, or SA 95 standards or better.
Hope that helps!

ParticipantCool, thanks Joe. I think i may try building my own before shelling out $50-75 on a purpose built one. It doesnt sound too hard. I took a look at the calipers today, and it looks like there is an allen head screw in each caliper, loosten those and out comes the fluid.

ParticipantAh, this must be the Denver stop on Champ Car’s ‘Turbo Tour’. I was wondering what it would be. But that’s awesome!
So, are the Champ Car guys going to be turning some of the first hot laps of the track? Maybe you’ll set a lap record early on. 8)
Now I really wish i could be there! 🙁

ParticipantGood article. Especially good because it’s giving more coverage (on SPEED’s website no less) to karting in the USA. But it is totally right in every respect. As great of a thing (for fun and as a starting point for new drivers) as karting is, it’s not promoted nearly enough is the USA. It’s sad that whenever you mention a kart to your average motorsports-ignorant american, they immediately think of the slow put-puts that you rent for 5 bucks at the local fun park….not something with a similar driving experience to a Champ Car. 😐
I just wish that the US was as kart-crazy as Italy or a large portion of Europe. That would make things all the much easier for those of us with dreams of doing this for a living. 8)
(If only SPEED covered Karting on TV!)

ParticipantThe 9th is better for me….
