ParticipantDave,
We aen’t trying to cram everything into 3 hours. It is a 14 hour day right now. 3-4 karts don’t make a class. We talked about that at the beginning of the season. I hope your class becomes a “top” class.
Thanks for your input.

ParticipantBill,
I couldn’t agree more. If you look at where the racers were hitting the hay bales, it was the last bale in line. 75% of the bales were not in the “safety” zone. The exit of each corner, at high speed was open, heading to a tree or light post. I thought we learned not to use tires from Steamboat, as they tend to flip karts and not act as a “barrier”.
The Kartique kart fliped just going into the tire at med. speed for a kid kart. Charles fliped by just “bumping” the last tire in the line heading down the first back straight.
The track was “fun and exciting” to drive, but not thought out for passing and braking zones for Tag or shifter. You had to have superior speed to get by the field, or your passing zone ended with a light post or permanent curb.
The tires trying to make a chicane down the back straights only cleared the racers off your hip, as it was still full speed heading thru them. They didn’t slow the kart down, heading into the next transition, it just prevented passing on that whole section without a braking zone to use for the pass. All in all, I’m surprised we walked away without any damage from bales or tires, however, I wanted to get home and not hurt the equipment or myself.
I hope the organizers learned from this and will improve it next year.Still, a fun event.

ParticipantMike,
YOU GOT IT…
If everyone thinks that the class is big, different speeds, different driving styles, lets remove all the “different” stuff and we still have the same problem. No one will be ready for August.
Lets add 12 more karts to the field, and really see what a full field looks and acts like, because we still have no idea.
Let the complaining begin…
These thoughts are mine and not The Tracks…

ParticipantTo all, thanks for showing up and making the event a great one.
Two things here from my point of view. This is supposed to be a club race. The numbers are larger than the CSC and the level of playing is just as high. Now throw in to the mix, a seriers for qualifying for a National Event. Next, add 1/2 of the field new to karting.
Now, we have three very different levels of racing all in the same event. No one could have predicted this two months ago.
Because it is a “club” race, it is the place where you are suppossed to get your feet wet. However, the driving styles are very unpredictable from a new driver. Throw into the mix, faster drivers with a goal in mind later in the season. This is what we get.
IMI has not had the qualifying race yet, but it is coming up next.
Last year, at our club races, we didn’t have any of this. JJ, we go over the flags at our drivers meeting, however, I didn’t see you there Sunday. We also covered the notice board at the start finish line with the kart number who was black-flagged to come off the track, but you missed that also. I’m happy that you pointed out the rules and the word “intentional.” I will make room for you (paid, lunch, drinks, headset, radio) for July 15th so you can show us the difference between “intentional” and “accident.”
For many of you that know me, I will not answer a question that begins with “what if…?” JJ, come on out and do “What is…” and make the black flag call. I got punted, nerfed, hit, runover, whatever you want to call it twice on Sunday. Both times, The drivers that hit me came over, said he was sorry and explained why or what happened. Each time, it was an unavoidable accident. (we are racing) I knew that. However, your point of view we should black flag the driver that used his brakes too hard by accident and someone hit him, or was he following too close? (once agin, we are RACING). I am NOT saying bumping is OK.There was an incident that I feel is cause for dismissal from The Track. We all know what it was, and it is under review. The driver has the experience to know better, but “racing” clouded his judgement and bad things happened. This was “intentional” and easy to point out. Being a racer myself, I have to stand behind Matt and Ian for any call they make, as they are the eyes on the track. No one is 100% perfect, but they try, and they try HARD.
That is why I ask you JJ to come and stand in their shoes. I race my kart to stand in your shoes, to know what is happening out on the track from a “racing” point of view. The two sides are VERY DIFFERENT. Bench racing, bench flagging , and “what if…” is really, really, really easy.I feel for the racers that had to sit in the infield. I feel bad for the accident in the shifter class. We all learn from all of this to make the racing better, safer and more fun. But one flag can’t stop bad driving. The bad driver has to change.
Maybe next year, we have a minimum number of races, or a driving/racing school for the new racers to get their feet wet before entering a big event. Becuase the “club” race has now become a “big” event.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s all good. It’s just a big learning curve for all of us.Happy FAST, SAFE, SMART racing to all in GJ for CSC number two…

ParticipantTom,
Please read the post correctly. All RMAX races will be run in the direction of the Grands untill after the last race on July 22. Then the track will only be run uphill from that point on.
The uphill race is the CSC, not a RMAX race.
ThanksJim Keesling
ParticipantClockwise.
The CSC race in July will run counter-clockwise (uphill).
ThanksJim Keesling
ParticipantThe Schedule stands as is/was. All I was looking for was one racer to reply that it wouldn’t work. In my mind, this had to be an all or nothing thing.
Thanks for the replys.

ParticipantDave,
I had to shut down the ball throwing as I was standing there calling a class to the grid, I saw the ball roll out past the hot pit lane, the little racer run after it without looking any direction, and shifterkarts at 70+ coming down hill on to the straight. I asked them to please stop, and once I walked away, they threw it again, and missed it again, and ran after it again straight toward the hot track.Next I have seen the kids chasing each other on the razors weaving in and out of kart stands not even caring that someone was trying to push it back to the pit space. Also chasing each other thru the driveway and you can’t see any of them dart out from behind a trailer.
The gentleman from CompCor was killed in Vegas two years ago in the paddock from a fall off a “pit” vehicle. Insurance doesn’t allow any of it. I will not make any excuses for not allowing it. They are not welcome on race day.
I’m sorry about the pit moving. Ed had the master sheet, and with over 70 entries Sunday morning walk-in, there is no way to pre-plan.
I would encourage everyone to pre-register to save waiting in line and having to move.
Thanks,

ParticipantHello all,
From my laps, I turned the fastest lap in the masters group on Mojo’s and Roman second fasest by .9 of a hundreth on Mojo’s…
Wow!
Thanks to all 124 that came out and played.
JimJim Keesling
ParticipantSame as posted prior to first race.
Gates open at 6:00am
Practice starts at 8:00am.
ThanksJim Keesling
ParticipantTrack direction,
Downhill – clockwise
Class splits – not decided yet.
“working” on Rotax splits.
Two things considered. Are the Rotax qual. only wanting to qual. for the Grands, or do they want points for the season as well? That really determines the split.
Mike is correct, the mojo people will be in their own race anyway.
20 lap main, 1-2 seconds slower, 40 seconds behind
Nothing decided yet.
ThanksJim Keesling
ParticipantAndy,
