It’s hard to say until we get out and run a few laps and look at the data. We all got together last night for dinner as a team and had this discussion. Thanks again to the Wilmonts!!!
I came to realize that every race this season, including Black Rock, was run on the same gear ratio. Steamboat and Bandi just became 4 and 5 speed tracks. It was good for Matt as a fresh 125 ICC pilot to get used to the power band of the motor from a hole shot to a long straight run. He knew what the motor could do and was able to concentrate on other important issues in the heat of the battle.
Next season is a whole other strategy however. It’s ShowTime!

    Tom,
We geared up for the straight at Vegas last year and soon found out the race is acuually in the technicial part of the layout. Don’t get too caught up in the length which is actually 500′ shorter than last year.
Once we geared Matt for the infield we started running with the fast guys.

Having said all that, you still need to get around turns 1,2 &3 in the heat races. That is the key to success in Vegas. We are still learning how to do that without being on the bottom of a pile up. 😳

Good Luck, and hope to see you out there.

There you go Jeffrey. You definitely Rocked All Year for an old guy.

I agree with Angie, A Rookie is a Rookie. We have some pretty good ones to vote for this year.

    Good luck to all.

That’s only one of the reasons Mike. His sticks resemble little green bottles from Holland 😯

That’s the happiest I’ve seen her in four months! Look at her jump and her head spin.

Nice job Angie, See You In Vegas :loony:

Why all the negitive feelings. This is the Supernationals. A one race format in Vegas with the best teams and drivers in the country. It has nothing to do with Stars, WKA, IKF or SKUSA points or standings. A three day kart race in the desert hosted by SKUSA. If there are any teams or drivers going there just to win, chances are they will be disapointed with anything less than that. It’s the hardest race to win I can think of.

Set the track up anyway you want, spec any tire you want, any fuel you want is fine with us. We are going as a family to race, have fun, gamble a little, enjoy the company of people we do not get to see but once a year, and make our best attempt to finish up front.

Remember when you used to have fun Doug? I do. It was when you showed up under these circumstances and expectations. You were our idols and we tried to pattern our game around yours. It’s just kart racing with our kids. Put that moto together and come have fun. You know the kid will do well and everything will work out fine. Leave the Rotax alone for this one. I have a feeling the Biland is going to come back and prove a point this year.

    Hope to see you there.

    Rich,
For the amount of racing you did this year you did pretty well with what you spent. I feel racing has always been expensive, and has stayed pretty much with the times on cost-of-living vs: cost-of-racing.

We are not a big buck family and would have never raced pro 125 ICC this year without our sponsors. Who knows what next season will offer as far as sponsors and personal budgets will go. Wait and see I guess.

Be careful on bulk buying tires, fuel… to save a few bucks. It’s always better racing on fresh stuff rather than something that has been sitting in a box in someone’s garage for 4-6 months. Going back to the durometer (sp) rule on tires might give us racers some buying power with discounts pitting the different mfg’s against one another.

Anyway, I’m impressed with your 2005 budget. We spent that in Vegas last year and are still paying for it. 👿

    See you later,
    Curt

PS: Chuck, that one set a season rumor is just about as wacky as shifters going 125MPH. Still haven’t seen either one happen.

I hope all of the tax paying citizens who voted out the last track Penske and Co was going to build East of town can choke on their anti motor sport pride.
I read where Aurora is 2.5 million $$$ short of their operating budget every year. HEY AURORA, guess what just one NASCAR race makes each year??????

So now all you knuckheads in Aurora can look for some healthy tax increases while the next county East of you gets rich.

    Suckers!

Give points based on all three. Qualify, Pre & Main…
This would keep people from not qualifying or even running the pre main and just going after the easy main points on fresh tires.

That was a pretty harsh post twords Mitch, JB. I think he is attempting to allow more time and money for the local karter to make a run at another form of championship. Personally, we have run all the CSC events to date, and even with Jim Keeslings generous sponsorship, we have overspent our budget again. I would entertain less CSC events and would consider making another run at an Action Karting Championship to sit on the shelf next to our other two.
He’s just trying to strike up another conversation, however, I wont blame him if he gets frustrated and stays quiet. Mitch can add an incredible amount of value to our little community if people would listen.

One other note: Black Rock / Miller Motorsports Park was the best track and event we ran all year. I think the new management would entertain just about anything these days. They are a real class act.

See you at round #7 on the 2nd. We are looking forward to your track.

    Thanks Grady,
Hopefully the October 8th date will draw some karters out there. It is well worth the bucks just to go out and dust a few rabbits and prarie dogs. It would also be cool to see the two TZ 250 karts Barry at Billet built on the 8th also. I heard they were hitting +100 MPH at IMI!

Sounds like a great way to just get together, run a relaxed practice day, cook up some grub and just hang out with karters. Were in.

We keep hearing rumors about the new facility at Front Range Airport to be built by Centrix. It should have a kart facility on the property also. After being part of The Track at Centennial race team this year I know first hand how hard Jim is working just to break ground. For some reason motor sports in our state is a very tough venture to get involved in. Like you said, SCR land is contaminated, loud and not very eye appealing. However, they are going to build thousands of homes out there. Go figure.

Hope to see you again soon.

    Thanks for the response Phil.

I think I can safely speak for many of the karters in this community that we were all looking forward to your event. We will keep our fingers crossed that you are successful in 2006. If you need any help, support or anything else, please do not hesitate to contact us.

I can see where having your feet and head exposed at the speed PPIR will produce would be a concern. Isn’t there enough infield at PPIR to set up a kart track without the high bank use? Or is it the banked surface that is the draw to this event? Just wandering here.

Thanks Again, and good luck in your persuit of this exciting opportunity.

Team Dog House ended up with a room so Matt & I have a place now. Anyone else should call Stacey or take Jay’s advice and get a motor home.
