InactiveSBC,
Welcome to the Colorado karting community!
Your question has been asked before many times. So instead of repeating everything, why not go to e-karting news website, get on the forum for “General Discussion” and do a search for:
new to karting
which class
which chassis
which engine package
etc, etc,For Colorado-go to the tracks and talk to the owners, go to races and talk to the racers-everybody is helpfully and will answer all and every question. Next raceGrand Junction Sept 16-18, IMI Sept 25, Bandi Oct 2.

InactiveLook at our new promotion in the general discussion forum. It’s a great deal on GP Chassis’. It’s fairly rare to find. I’m sure you’ve seen GP Karts around if not, go to http://www.klsracing.com or even visit the italian website at http://www.gpracing.it. GP is a great support team and we’d help you get into the right level of racing- you wouldnt be disappointed.
Feel free to contact us!

ParticipantSBC,
If you ran at Bondurant you probably know Alan Rudolph. He is one of our top drivers and also spends time under our tent for the state races. We are based in Grand Junction and do all CSC races as well as all national races.
If you are looking for support call Barry at Billet Performance Karting (303)841-4855 or AJ with RBI Racing at (970)201-7917.
Good luck,
Richard

InactiveSBC,
Welcome to the karting community. Already in this very short thread you can see what karting is all about……$$$$$$$$$$$$$.
Rich is correct, that this topic has been discussed at length in many forums. Ekartingnews.com is the most informative website dedicated to karting and can answer most of your questions.
As to class: If you have had experience racing and feel comfortable at speed, then race Tag. It is the fastest form of racing outside of shifter karts, but still pretty damn close in top end and overall time. It is and will be the biggest class for racing for the years to come. Buy either an Easykart package or a rotax package. Reason: Easykart – easy to find, totally spec Birel chassis with an abundance of parts. It’s a national class for Stars and you should be able to find good deals on used karts. Rotax – by far the biggest motor package out there….Easykart is basically a complete kart and motor package where as rotax is just a motor that you will have to find a kart (chassis) to put the motor on.
Don’t buy from IMI. Don’t buy a chassis older than 3 years old and inspect the bottom side of the chassis before buying. Check for welds, cracks and bends.

ParticipantIf you DON’T have deep pockets $$$$ , the Briggs Modified class is a great class to race in. Right now it has the largest turn out at IMI club races. You dont have to run spec. tires, and compete with racers who have a money tree in their backyard. NO B.S. BLUE COLLAR RACING AT ITS BEST! InactiveDennis,
Good to hear you again.
Are you racing?
Was that your brother at the Rock-I think he had a 3rd quick time there or something?September 28, 2005 at 12:50 am #51651Anonymous
InactiveSBC,
Welcome as well. I am also a Briggs Modified Racer and I think this IS racing at its best. Rules are pretty straight foward and in my opinion, this is the most affordable racing package out there. Been a very tight race all season long and I think that you would have a great time in the Briggs Modified class. Hope to see you soon! Scary Larry G #64 Briggs Modified

ParticipantGentlemen,
Let’s cut out the “guano” throwing. If everyone threw crap around then we’d have no shops to spend our money at since I’m sure everyone feels slighted by one shop at some time of their karting career (didn’t work on my engine first, sold me a part that shouldn’t have broke but did, etc etc)
Nuff said…

InactiveMike,

Are you going to be at Bandi on Sunday?

ParticipantGentlemen,
If you want an explanation I’ll give you one in person.
Rich, I will be there and be gentle on me! I haven’t sat in my kart since pretty much the end of July and I fell going down my stairs at home (sober…) and wrenched my back so no gym time but a handful of times.
What I’m asking for is a 5 kart lead handicap… 8)
Looking forward to seeing you all Saturday and Sunday!

InactiveMike,
Since you haven’t been at the last 4 or 5 races @ 20 laps/final that is 80-100 laps you will be running while the rest of us have only 20 laps.
:boo: 😆 :loony:
