ParticipantThere have been many recent developments adding to the excitment leading into the GGP on Memorial Day Weekend. The City of Greeley continues to open their arms for this event potientially making this one of the largest celebrations the city hosts every year. I know we are still a few weeks out, but here are some teasers:
Great Track Layout, Cozy Pitt’s close to the action, UMBRELLA GIRLS, Live Music each night, Carnival (with barf rides), Beer Garden, Military Color Guard and National Anthem, Real VIP’s and Sponsors, Mini Cooper pace car and displays, great track viewing area high above the track surface, FLUSHING TOILETS, running water, electricity located throughout the facility, First Class Safety Team and Rescue Vehicles, Excellent Pre-Grid to keep the day’s moving fast…All this just makes your :rotate:I cannot urge you more to get get pre-registered with a pitt spot. Call Angie or Jay should you have any questions on pitt spot availability, or registration. Hotels are already booked, however, there are many hotels in the Greeley metro area, and they are all close to the Island Grove facility.
Other things to remember: Bring your own air, fuel, tires, (including rains), rains suits and set-up’s, shade, boom-box for announcements or anything else you think you will need. There will not be any kart part fellers there selling axels, oil, tie-rods or anything else those pesky straw bails like to eat. I am sure Doug and Barry will have a limited supply of parts, but “Be Prepared for the Worst”.
We would also like to see if there are any track set-up or tear-down helpers. This has been a very large undertaking for many of us, and the bottom line is, we are still kart racers too. Anything you can do throughout the weekend would be very welcome. We need back-pack type grass blowers, brooms, gloves, and just about anything you can think of to keep the race surface clean and dry. I would ask that you simply throw what you can in your trailer, and just bring it.
I hope everyone is as excited about this opportunity as we are. There has been many spirited meetings over the winter leading up to this race, and I can personally attest to the fact that this race will be huge!
Thanks to the rest of the GGP team, and I hope to see all CSC racers and families taking advantage of this special weekend.

ParticipantCharles,
Just don’t peel it off on his rear bumper when you see him again. He’s going to be in pretty good shape :idn:Rich,
I gave the remainder of what I did not personally hand out Saturday to Drew for the drivers meeting in GJ. He may have an extra or two. Or, I can always get more for yourself and anyone else interested. Perhaps Memorial weekend in Greeley would be our next handout. If the modified guys don’t get me booted out of the CSC for my condesending paint drying remark, I will be more than happy to get another hundred to the GGP.
Gotta go catch some more “C” notes falling from the tree in my back yard.

ParticipantGreg,
I did not say slow. You have to admit, your main which I watched from start to finish, was spread out and not very much fun watching you guy’s and gal racing your shadows. Your class should have more entries, or be included into another class running equilivent times. I have no complaints about adding classes as long as the day runs smooth and we can get out in a timely manner.
Vito’s suggestion of waiting for the rain to stop just adds to the day. We need to remember that the Western slope teams come here (7) times. If we have classes with 5 entries doing 15-20 lap mains, wait for the track to dry, lunch breaks at some tracks, carnage and bad rolling starts they will be getting home at 3AM as we did, making for a long week at work.Back to the intent of this thread. CSC races should run in the rain! Don’t be so sensitive.
Curt Kistler
ParticipantI say one hour.
That was quick Angie. Of course lightning would be an unsafe condition, but the rest of the issues are just part of the deal Mother Nature is dishing out that day. Corner workers need to show up with whatever they think they will need to be protected and comfortable. It’s a long day out there for them and they need to be prepared for the worst. Ever see any of them wearing eye or ear protection when the weather is perfect?
And you should always be in an enclosed building or trailer just to keep us pesky parents and tuners away from you so you can do your job. Your computer and printer should always be protected from the environment also. Better hurry up and finish your building Stacey 👿

ParticipantRich,
With 15 CSC classes I already do toooooo much waiting. Watching (4) modified briggs in GJ was like watching paint dry. If they had at least (4) more it would have been worth the wait just to watch another competitive heat race.I think the spirt of this thread was to see who is interested in running all “CSC” races in the rain. My point was CSC is at the Regional level and should be run, if it rains, and when it rains. It does add alot of excitment in trying to decide what set-up to bring to grid.
Looks like the overall majority of voters is all for the wetness. So let it rain. Now we need an official CSC decision or ruling. Wonder how long that will take? Wanna make any guesses?

ParticipantThis can turn into a great debate, and should. We have never addressed racing in the rain in Colorado as far as I know. In reading this months issue of Kart Sport Magazing, Bonnier Moulton wrote a very impressive article. It touched on topics such as this one. Bonnier explains the difference between Club Races vs. Regional Races vs. National Races and the cost vs. fun factor associated with the three levels.
If someone does not want to spend the bucks on rains, and has a blast kart racing, the club level is where you need to stay. If you need, or want, to raise the bar of competition, you will need to move up to the Regional Level, (CSC). This will take some of the fun factor away, and will raise the amount you spend on any given race. Higher entry fees, travel, tires, membership fees, extra motors, chassis…
The National Level of kart racing is just plain expensive. Been there, done that, and got the hat.The CSC is “Regional Racing” at it’s best. You will need to invest in rains, if this survey goes full circle, and you will need to spend the bucks necessary to finish in front of the field. If you do not have the budget, then go Club Racing and have as much fun as this great sport will give you. It’s no big deal. We are all in this to have fun racing karts and spending time with our families, friends and competitors.
I urge everyone to read the article. Bonnier hit the nail right on the head!

ParticipantAbsoutly T,
This will also help you guys who venture out to national races. Keeps your rain skills and set-up’s in check too.We definetly need the practice in wet conditions. Last year at Black Rock was a real wake up call on us when it rained during the pre main.

ParticipantThere will be a meeting this week, same time and place. Things are falling into place and we will be working on some final plans.
Hope to see you all here.

Participant3:00am for me, and back to work at 7ish. I really wanted to see Greg’s run from the back to the front in the main. Guess you guys got snake bit. Great main in the stock moto nun-the-less. Roger got run down by a mad man from Utah at the stripe, what a finish! Sounds like you will get lot’s of payback opp’s as they will race all of the CSC events.
We had a great weekend except for the main start. Hope Cody S. is alright. He had a big header with lot’s of air! Lost sixth gear half way thru and got run down. Thanks for Kyle doing his extreme karting move on the final lap, we found our first pro podium.Big prop’s to KLS racing and Tom Kutscher’s support. Looking over Lorenzo and Vince Mandarino’s shoulder all weekend was huge! Great people with loads of wisdom.
Great job Cooks, CSC, and track workers

ParticipantSounds Great Rick.
Anyone else want to send something over to Mike let me know in GJ, or get it to me next week sometime.
Let’s get a CSC Care Package together for him. He has really got to be home sick by now.
PS: I know what you are thinking already Mikaela before you even thought it. No! This needs to be a clean care package. Leave your shorts on till he gets home please.

ParticipantRuss,
The wisker rule applies from past rules at Steamboat Springs GP. The GGP takes the place of the SSGP and all rules should carry over.Bottom line: Ask Dennis Z. the CSC Tech Director about the tire rule, and the air cleaner rule. He is the one that makes the final call, not me. I would just plan on getting some new tires lined up. That way you can’t go wrong.
Call Barry at Billet. He has 10 sets of Brigstone rains left over from last year and will make the first 10 callers a good deal. I saw them today and asked if he wanted to part ways and he said yes. Still in plastic wrappers with them funny wiskers. 303-841-4855.
Curt Kistler
ParticipantMichael,
Hope all is well over there and your time is getting short. I went ahead and made some helmet stickers with your name and #19 for all the CSC folks racing this weekend in GJ. I would love to send some your way but can’t find your current cammel address. Please send your address so I can get you a care package and a few stickers for your cool GI helmet and weapon. We want the bad guys to know who is shooting at them.
Keep your head down brother, and get home soon!
GOD BLESS THE MEN AND WOMEN FIGHTING FOR OUR FREEDOM IN ORDER FOR US TO GO RACING! :drink

ParticipantThere will be no meeting on 5-3-06. As mentioned before, we are all taking care of our business in smaller groups.
I will be calling all corner workers this week to confirm their commitments, and we will schedule the corner worker / rescue training.
Another note: Do not forget that this is a rain race! Everyone is responsible for their own rain tires, driving gear and set-ups. The rain tire is open, however, they should be new with wiskers. Not a whole lot has been discussed about this, so please come prepared to get wet if necessary.

ParticipantAdrian (Ace) Cario came by to root on his buddy Greg on Sunday. He and I sat at turn #1 and watched Greg’s RR wheel just about be-bead itself every lap.
There was about 1/2 – 3/4″ of al-u-mim-e-ummm showing. Very cool.We did blister a RR tire there just trying to find grip one day. The Track does challenge the average tuner and driver.
