    Curt,

I have read the article before and agree but……..

There is a trickle down effect throught karting concerning expenses. The rain tire issue is one of them. Yes we should race in the rain and it should be up to racer to put on the rain tires or not in the CSC. Club series no rain racing.

but in the end we just wait out the rain here in Colorado.

the costs of karting keep going up–gas; tires; fees; etc and forces me to be creative to keep my costs down <$5,000 for the yr. Amazing what you can find and do if you LOOK! The bad part of this is that it restricts new blood from joining in. 😥

    Nothing new here:

racing = $$$ and lots of it
to be fast = $$$ to practice and lots of it

Nothing that we didn’t already know but I’ll throw in another good one:

    1 tequila, 2 tequila, 3 tequila, floor…

    Rich,
With 15 CSC classes I already do toooooo much waiting. Watching (4) modified briggs in GJ was like watching paint dry. If they had at least (4) more it would have been worth the wait just to watch another competitive heat race.

I think the spirt of this thread was to see who is interested in running all “CSC” races in the rain. My point was CSC is at the Regional level and should be run, if it rains, and when it rains. It does add alot of excitment in trying to decide what set-up to bring to grid.

Looks like the overall majority of voters is all for the wetness. So let it rain. Now we need an official CSC decision or ruling. Wonder how long that will take? Wanna make any guesses?

Running in the rain and running on a wet track after the storm are two different things. I don’t see us running while it is raining. The track workers would need rain gear, and who knows if the radios will hold up in the rain. Our Colorado storms often come with some nasty lightning, and that becomes a safety issue. At most of the tracks, I am inside, but at GJ the timing system was out in the weather… that would have to be protected – could be done, but something to consider.

I will see if I can get an official answer from a CSC “official”

    I say one hour.

That was quick Angie. Of course lightning would be an unsafe condition, but the rest of the issues are just part of the deal Mother Nature is dishing out that day. Corner workers need to show up with whatever they think they will need to be protected and comfortable. It’s a long day out there for them and they need to be prepared for the worst. Ever see any of them wearing eye or ear protection when the weather is perfect?

And you should always be in an enclosed building or trailer just to keep us pesky parents and tuners away from you so you can do your job. Your computer and printer should always be protected from the environment also. Better hurry up and finish your building Stacey 👿

    Greg,
I did not say slow. You have to admit, your main which I watched from start to finish, was spread out and not very much fun watching you guy’s and gal racing your shadows. Your class should have more entries, or be included into another class running equilivent times. I have no complaints about adding classes as long as the day runs smooth and we can get out in a timely manner.
Vito’s suggestion of waiting for the rain to stop just adds to the day. We need to remember that the Western slope teams come here (7) times. If we have classes with 5 entries doing 15-20 lap mains, wait for the track to dry, lunch breaks at some tracks, carnage and bad rolling starts they will be getting home at 3AM as we did, making for a long week at work.

Back to the intent of this thread. CSC races should run in the rain! Don’t be so sensitive.

Curt, Then what did the phrase watching paint dry mean? We paid the same amount of money to race . Dont worry about any other class but your own.

i dont know if this helps you… but what he means is that local racing is going to say imi or centennial.. or grand junction of thats where you are for their CLUB series… the CSC is a REGIONAL series which means that there should be different and more competitive rules to go along with that, such as racing in the rain. One of the things many people like the most about road racing is the aspect of racing in the rain. if the CSC decides to race in the rain it is your choice to race on a rain day or not.

and on him not belonging cuz hes “too fast”… you’re just jealous

    I agree with Curt.

How can we ever plan on upgrading to racing at National level if we do not race as they do? No rain racing should be left at the Club level only. We (CSC) need rain races to be ready to move up with the big boys.

Hey sticky and others talkign about rain racing I present this: If you think you’ll be good by racing others in the rain I agree ONLY TO A CERTAIN POINT. If you want the experience then get yer butts to the local tracks when its raining. You’ll be one of the few there and you can learn the different lines braking points etc. I do NOT buy into the fact that racing at a CSC level in the rain is going to make you good. PUT DOWN THE CRACK PIPE AND FACE REALITY!!! That said, racing in the rain would be good. Wanna get good at it then treat it like you do any other condition: Do it during practice with seat time. Like I said, it rains here enough for us to get this time in, doesn’t it?

    Dan,
I think that you’ve missed one very pertinent point made here; this is not local racing, this is regional racing that lies above local racing and below national racing. You don’t say that you’re going to go race at the “local” track when you travel to Grand Junction do you?

The KartSport article made it plain and simple, club racing is for fun, regional racing is to prepare for national racing, and national racing is to get noticed. On that note, regional racing (CSC) needs to race in the rain, or it wouldn’t be called regional racing.

Lighten up and try to see someone else’s point, Curt was just trying to present an issue that has plagued the CSC
