ParticipantHowdy Friends and Family,
Well, been here six weeks now and all I can think about is the 182 days or so I have left.
I watched the Daytona at about 2300hrs (1100pm Mickey Mouse time), for the Fontana race, we had problems with the signal feed into our shop so needless to say I missed that one. Luckily I have a friend in the Springs sending a tape.
Weather here was been everything but snow, not to say we haven’t had the temps for snow. One day we hit 30. Mostly rain and fog and haze and a sky full of dust. The hot days are on the way. I can feel them. Some days when I stand out in the sun, I can feel more heat then I would think I should feel at this time of year. Not looking forward to it. It?s going to make moving around in all my gear just wonderful. One good thing is I’m sitting at about 200 feet above sea level. Now if all that oxygen wasn’t full of pollution it might be a lot easier to run here.
My convoy runs have been uneventful to date, which is a good thing. I’m reading too many reports about lose of limb and life to IEDs (Improvised Explosive Device). The other day a young man lost his left arm at the shoulder and his right hand at the wrist. Sometimes I just don’t get these folks.
Some Iraqi men I have met and talked to, understand that talking to the local women just doesn’t happen, love life, peace, family and their fellow man. Okay, I’m not a heavy religious guy but I’d like to pull some quotes out of the Bible as well as the Qur’an. Please just bare with me for a moment; ?Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy…. For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you salute only your brethren, what more are you doing than others?” (Matthew 5:7, 46-7) “Muhammad is Allah’s Apostle. Those who follow him are ruthless to the unbelievers but merciful to one another.” Qur’an 48:29. How many folks have just closed this post and said “SFC Mike is out there?” My take on all this is, believe as we do or we will take your head off. It doesn’t matter to them if a person is peaceful and brings no arms to bare, better yet for them. It makes for the removal of heads easier. This is just my take on it folks. Interpretations have wobbly legs, some go right, some go left. They believe in Jesus, but Jesus was just Allah’s apostle that came before Muhammad, and there were several.
Ok, enough of that. :zzz:I’m looking forward to hearing about the CSC event recaps. Please keep me posted. I can’t wait to get back and take a few laps at “THE TRACK”. Sounds like its going to be great. Maybe at a track like that we can get TaG Masters 30 lap mains. I know one guy would be up for that.
I’m going to try and attach a picture with this so you all can see my smiling face.
Take care all and race safe. GO USA! :us

Participant😯 I thank you and the men and women who are there with you for doing the tough jobs. We don’t always get the whole truth form either side of a question. I am going to the meeting for the Greeley street race. Your name was mention last week and a nod was sent to you from all of us. I still owe you a care package and will get it out this week. Great hearing from you. Craig

ParticipantHey Craig,
Thanks for the thanks. These people are killing eachother as much as they are triing to kill us. Its back to that belief of “if you don’t believe the way we believe, the true and right path, then Allah says to kill you.”I don’t get it. Just think if the U.S. was this way. It would make the yearly CSC meeting a bit more exciting.
Good luck to you and the rest of the folks that are putting the Greeley race together. It already sounds like a great event.
Take care Craig.

ParticipantI hope to make your acquaintance at “The TracK”, which is coming along nicely, btw.
I have studied the Middle East for the past twenty years, here and in Israel, and it is not any easier to understand the people now than in 1986 when I started ! Every time I travel overseas, and return here all I have to say is: God Bless the USA !

ParticipantZev,
Everytime I go to Los Angeles I say the same thing when I get back to Denver. God Bless America.Be careful over there Michael. We need all the racers we can get back here. What was your number plate? I will have Matt run your number for luck while your over there trying to make sense of the situation.
Keep cool when the sun is hot, and warm when it’s grey. Everything is going to work out over time and we will all give you high fives and hugs upon your safe return.
Curt

InactiveMichael,
Hey bud!
Tried sending you an e-mail and it was returned. Do you have a new e-mail address or is this the only way to contact you-This forum?
Got my exhaust pipe re-painted-remember?
thanks for all you are doing over there!
:cheers:I am half way through my break-in and hope to finish this week. Everybody here is excited about The Track being built. I think it will be summer before Jim K. has it completely finished. There is a charity race in mid April, but no track schedule yet.
Looking forward to running with you later this year.
Be safe!

ParticipantHey guys, Rich, Dane, Michael, Zev and Curt. Thanks guys for all your well wishes. 181 days to go, give or take a few days.
Yea, I remember Rich. I hope you painted it bright orange so I can see it this time. :loony: Is the break-in with a new motor on a new chassis? Or, rebuild and same chassis? Sounds like Jim K. is doing a great job at The Track. Can’t wait to give it a try, that is if you guys haven’t worn it out by the time I get home.
Michael, I think you started something with NKN. We will see what happens with the May issue.
I will see you guys in September.

ParticipantMichael,
Hope all is well over there and your time is getting short. I went ahead and made some helmet stickers with your name and #19 for all the CSC folks racing this weekend in GJ. I would love to send some your way but can’t find your current cammel address. Please send your address so I can get you a care package and a few stickers for your cool GI helmet and weapon. We want the bad guys to know who is shooting at them.
Keep your head down brother, and get home soon!
GOD BLESS THE MEN AND WOMEN FIGHTING FOR OUR FREEDOM IN ORDER FOR US TO GO RACING! :drink

ParticipantCurt,
Let me know when a care package is going East. I’ve got some home made granola bars that Mikaela made that can go in it. I know home baked goods are always appreciated. Plus, they travel well.
Hey Sarge, beers (still) on ice ready for you when you get back!
Stay alert!

ParticipantSounds Great Rick.
Anyone else want to send something over to Mike let me know in GJ, or get it to me next week sometime.
Let’s get a CSC Care Package together for him. He has really got to be home sick by now.
PS: I know what you are thinking already Mikaela before you even thought it. No! This needs to be a clean care package. Leave your shorts on till he gets home please.

ParticipantYou guys are the greatest!
Yea, home sickness is settin’ a bit every now and then. May 2nd was/is Miss Ellie’s birthday and when I called her to wish her another happy birthday while I’m away the sickness seems to come on a little harder. Talking about all the things she is doing and having to do by herself. She is a good hardy mountain chick so I don?t worry too much. Just wish I was there to help out.
Mr. Springer has the right address. Craig sent a box of karting mags to show all the guys here what kart racing is all about. It helped to explain the difference between concession karts and the types of karts we race.
Kurt, thanks for thinking of me. I will place them in well thought-out places and take some pics to send your way. One more thing Kurt, you leave poor Mikaela alone and let the girl do what she wants. 😆
Mike, ice cold beer sounds real good right now. It?s pushing triple digits outside, and it?s only the first week of May.
Rick, a video would help to show these guys that our karts don’t putt around the track like the karts at the fair. And we all know that the TAG Masters class is where the real action is.
Good luck to you guys in GJ. Be safe and don’t pull a “Duff”. Sorry Duff.
Be cool.
SFC Mike
