ParticipantDoes anyone have anything else on this subject? I finally understand HOW we got to this point, although it doesn’t make it less frustrating.
So, I am wondering what else we need to have spelled out? Are there any other increases in power to any of the three motors involved by making the change to WKA? Like, are there any differences for the flatheads in the rules like there are with the Animals. If so, we had better take a look now. Unfortunately I only have the pages from the 2003 IKF book that pertain to the Animal. If someone has the info for the other two motors and wants to share, please let me know.
And on the pipe for the Comer 80, don’t we need to include some specs on it. Saying they can run a pipe is leaving it pretty open, isn’t it?
Remember we want to keep them all equal, and we don’t need more HP for these kids.I know there are a few folks that are concerned about some other items… like bodywork. The way I understand it, bodywork is non-tech, is this correct?

ParticipantI hardly know what to say here. I am sorry. To all those that have been inconvenienced by this, I am sorry. I was trying to help by getting rules out, and I messed something up royal. If you look back, this cam issue was brought up right after the “unofficial rules” were posted, and I put the actual wording right out there for everyone to review. There were a few posts from Junior 1 parents, but not one track owner or Doug said anything about it on the forum. I spoke with Brad, I emailed him and the other track owners, and Doug. I modified the rules according to those discussions, and even sent it out for approval before posting. I thought I went through the proper channels – now I look like a fool. Especially since my son runs the motor in dispute. To be honest, I don’t care about the cam, only that we run what was agreed on by the Junior 1 parents at the meeting.
I have more to say, but won’t… I just had to say that I am sorry, as I was right in the middle of this one.

Participantwell, how was it?!

Participantas per Doug’s comment, the rules have been updated to reflect the change to the Junior 1 and Junior 2 classes. The Briggs and Stratton Animals are teched by WKA section 708, exceptions being that they are run on gas, AND they must run “broached stock factory camshaft” NO grinding of cams allowed.

ParticipantAs directed by Doug Welch and the track owners… I have corrected the rules for the Junior 1 and Junior 2 class to reflect that Animals are teched by WKA section 708, exceptions being that they are run on gas, AND they must run “broached stock factory camshaft” NO grinding of cams allowed.

ParticipantRich,
No website. It is Bill Noud’s business, which I believe may be located at the new track, once it is completed. In the meantime Bill can be reached at 970-218-5724. His ad is on the back cover of the January issue of The Colorado Karter newsletter. I made a mistake and it reads Rocky Mountain Kart Factory, but really his business IS Rocky Mountain Kartworks.
The ad reads
Rocky Mountain Kartworks
“Driver Development – Chassis Tuning”
“Race Preparation and Maintenance”
Chassis – G.P. Racing, Intrepid Kart Technoloies
Engines – CRS-ICC, Sonic -TAG
Parts – Service

ParticipantDennis,
AJ moved to Grand Junction. Bill is still on this side of the mountain with his business Rocky Mountain Kartworks. Bill has helped us immensely during the winter months, with Cole and his kart set-up! Shane has moved back to CO, too!angie

ParticipantI was not at the meeting, I don’t know how it was left for the weights. Did everyone agree that once TagUSA/SKUSA posted weights that CSC would use those? or plus 10 or 20? Or was it left to be decided at a later date?if so, based on what? There was some tweaking of the weights already from last year’s to this year’s, so there must have been some discussion.
It is a good idea to run the poll, and get comments, so this can get finalized. That is the reason I posted Brad’s comments from ekarting. Brad suggested that we get this information out, AND GET FEEDBACK FROM THE RACERS. It will be up to the racers to agree on the issue. Maybe using Graeme’s idea (from the Sr/Hvy weight battle) of posting each person’s vote would be a better way, so that we know that those voting are indeed those racers involved.
The only other problem I see is that after a couple of races, TAGUSA/SKUSA decides to change the weights again, if not before. Then what, do we continue to flex with their program?
I know everyone wants the weights to be set, but in agreeing to base ours off of someone else’s, it drags the whole process out.

ParticipantAs you may have noticed in the rules, I did not change the weight to 395, rather left the comment of the suggestion. This is because it was my undertanding that JB planned on having a Sr/Hvy pow wow at the first CSC event to get this finalized. If you all want it to be set in stone now, we will have to get approval from Stacey, JB, and Brad. Sorry for the confusion – I know that Graeme has been working hard lobbying for the weight change.

ParticipantAs I understand it is OEM carb, jetting is open.

ParticipantMarc,
Did you read what I posted? The weights are not official! Brad is not happy with the results of the current testing and release from SKUSA/TAG and I made a point of saying that the weights are still up in the air. Comments are still encouraged, and I can’t tell you exactly when this will be settled. Brad is definitely aware of the situation and has seen the actual testing data that resulted in the recently posted weights. He is interested in not only getting it set right for the CSC, but at the national level.angie

ParticipantJon,
You will have to talk to Stacey on that one… I think he answered the airbox question here…

but that may have been before the recent SKUSA changes.Angie
