Zev, Dennis is right on. KT 100’s are pretty much non existant in this area. Keep the chassis and get a different motor package.

Chaz, Since we are an “outlaw” series I don’t see that it would have been a big hassle if the SONIK for some reason was not included in the official TAG list of engines for the coming year. Barring some wierd new modifications why could it not just be grandfathered or just plain included as we did last year? If anything, we do just like last year at the drivers meeting and come up w/ an acceptable weight and go racing. Does not take care of the problem nationally but it sure doesn’t exclude them in their own series.

Brad, you type faster than I do. Your explanation of yours and my dealings in regard to SKUSA are right on. It was purely economics and nothing else. You have NEVER screwed me out of anything. Don’t know where George came up with that but it is absolutely false.
The only people who screwed me in regards to SKUSA was SKUSA!
Brad Kenyon and Jim Murley killed SKUSA in this region.

George, Just for clarification the CSC used TAGUSA as a basis for the classes this past season. We didn’t just start it with no guidelines. I remember distinctly using their info as a starting point last year at the drivers meeting at IMI. Brad took the printout from me and used it as a baseline for discussions on modifying it to fit what the racers wanted. Not what he or JB or anybody else wanted but what the racers wanted.
Don’t make it sound like CSC has never heard of TAGUSA. We affilliated with the concept while you were still figuring out what TAG meant.

Worries about the Sonik may be a moot point. If the importer does not submit it for inclusion for next year it may not even be listed as a TAG motor for TAGUSA and assuming we adopt their guidelines for next year in the CSC it won’t be an issue.

Let’s see what Argy decides to do for next year and we adjust accordingly.

    Scott,
Second Creek only has a year to live. It wiil be gone after next season. The Colorado Motorsports Council is working on a new facility for somewhere in Adams County or Weld. They are being cautious about letting too much info out right now. I do know that if it comes about they plan to have long track, medium track and kart facilities.
I don’t think you could pay anyone to race at Meade. It is just too dangerous for karts.
I don’t see us expanding the series much beyond the number of races we did this year. Maybe a couple but w/ the likely implementation of a throwout it should still be easy on the pocket book.
PPIR is too expensive too rent and they would only let us race in the parking lot.
Denver Grand Prix is absolutely pressed for time with all the support races they already have committed to.
The Mini Grand Prix is ran the weekend before as a one day celebrity and charity race but they may be talked in to blocking out 2 days and maybe we could do something there. Will explore that one. It would then be the weekend before RIGP and that might work.
    Keep ’em coming.

Assuming this discussion is going to transition from the EKN site let’s please be civil and leave the politics out.
The whole idea behind the CSC was to put together a series that utilized all the tracks available and provide a diverse schedule that let everyone race at those tracks. Minimal but consistent rules and classes that included just about anybody with a motor.
    It worked.
Do we want to re invent the wheel? I don’t think so.
Let’s keep the concentration and suggestions along those lines and make this even better next year.
I never would have thought this would come together when it was proposed less than a year ago. In one sit down meeting at the first of the year three track operators sat down and hashed out the basics. picked dates, tried not to conflict w/ known national dates and came up with classes that seemed to fit this region.
It is not IKF,SKUSA,STARS,WKA or any other organization. It is just our series for our karters without all the other politics.
Let’s try to keep it that way.
The ideas I have seen are pretty much all workable, so keep them coming.
The “A” team idea is great. Who wants to volunteer?
    Throw outs. No problem.
    Work around dates. If possible.
Run a fair, fun series. Always.

Say when. Did you do it after the race day was over or just get together at the track at a pre arranged time?

I don’t think double points is the way to go. The concept is good but the application of it for that particular race is not. I know it seems like it would be incentive for racers(CSC specifically) to want to come to Steamboat to up the kart count and add to this great event.
It appears that this event has the potential of becoming a smaller but as exciting yearly event as the old RMVR events. That means our friends from all across the country will want to make it a race they plan on attending year in and year out. What happens to the racer who has competed faithfully in all the races over the season and Steamboat is the final points race of the year and he gets taken out by the karter that just came to race cause it’s a great place to race? We may have to look at it as a great one off race similar to RIGP without the CSC points involvement.
    Any thoughts?
