InactiveI Just wanted to know how everyone feels about
if this race was for double points race.September 10, 2003 at 9:05 pm #44904Anonymous
InactiveI personally would rather it be a regular points race and
not a double point race. Just because if you have a bad
race you could lose all you have worked for all year.September 10, 2003 at 9:08 pm #44905Anonymous
InactiveIf anything breaks on your kart you are S.O.L.

Inactiveno not at all, as Tyler said, it ruins everything you work for and what you spent all year long doing, lets keep it a regular state race and not cater to out of staters

ParticipantI don’t think double points is the way to go. The concept is good but the application of it for that particular race is not. I know it seems like it would be incentive for racers(CSC specifically) to want to come to Steamboat to up the kart count and add to this great event.
It appears that this event has the potential of becoming a smaller but as exciting yearly event as the old RMVR events. That means our friends from all across the country will want to make it a race they plan on attending year in and year out. What happens to the racer who has competed faithfully in all the races over the season and Steamboat is the final points race of the year and he gets taken out by the karter that just came to race cause it’s a great place to race? We may have to look at it as a great one off race similar to RIGP without the CSC points involvement.
Any thoughts?September 11, 2003 at 12:03 am #44910Anonymous
InactiveNot a good idea only 2 days away. Needs to be known up front beginning of the season

InactiveI’m glad we all agree that two days before the race is
not the appropriate time to consider a drastic decision
which could completely alter the outcome of this season.
I feel that a double points race may have been better
timed earlier in the season. The main reason I feel so
strongly about not having this race be for double points is
because of the weather factor this weekend, with the
expected weather conditions, anything could happen
and anyone could get tangled up and not finish.
We are the loyal racers who have been at the majority
of these races and we are the ones who have supported
and contributed to this series.Comments and Concerns

Inactive😕 Where did this come from? Steamboat has never been considered a double points race to the best of my knowledge. Is this a thought for next year or was this actually proposed and by whom?

InactiveLet shockwave know how you feel cause I’ve heard
that they are considering the use of double points
for the steamboat race. Give them a call.
We are the racers and we have the right to voice
our opinions and give any imput to improve these
races.September 11, 2003 at 1:47 am #44914Anonymous
InactiveI have heard this from a few people today
(people who are not on the internet) and they
just said that shockwave may be considering it,
so i just voiced my opinion about that action. It
may just be hearsay but we might as well give
our feelings.September 11, 2003 at 2:42 am #44915Anonymous
InactiveMaybe someone from shockwave can clear it up for us.

ParticipantLets hope so, they cannot change the rules before the last race of the season, this was not agreed on during the meeting at IMI and therfore, should not happen, Like tyler said, the weather may blow it, for lots of people, myself included.
Example
Someone who is ahead by 61 points in the CSC goes out first lap and it is cold and damp, spins it, crasheds, is done for the day, but their are only 6 people in the class running for points, so logically he comes out 1 ahead, but if its double, he his down the same (my math sucks, i hope i am right)September 11, 2003 at 4:56 am #44917Angie MacEwen
ParticipantI think the idea was just being discussed, and will be brought up at the drivers’ meeting. Maybe not a good idea for this year, being discussed at this late date; but maybe this is an idea for next year.
Also, points are not going to be given to the out of staters that are just coming in for the one event. Points will be given to those who have previously earned points in the series only.
