Doug is absolutely correct. Karting in Colorado isn’t broken. It just needs to be tweaked.

The original idea of the CSC was to give karters, that had previously been only running at the track they were committed too as a club series, the chance to run at the other challenging tracks in our state. The hope was that it would also help raise the level of karting. It did.
It was never the intention for it to overwhelm the club racing. I don’t think any of the track owners that sat down at a cafe in Morrison a couple of years ago to get the CSC off the ground would have ever gone along with the concept if they thought for a second it was going to affect their individual club series. We know now it did.

Once again the idea of being all things for all people missed the mark.

By running two races at each track and then throwing in a one off event at Steamboat the CSC effectively diluted the club series to the point it has almost died in comparison to five years ago.
Where are new racers supposed to get their track time racing against others so they can improve? It isn’t the CSC. Remember, it was supposed to be raising the bar for the level of competition and you don’t do that by jumping into the CSC pool as a newbie.

It is a fact that by trying to be all things for all people we now have too many classes on race day and not enough time in the day for a one day event. It does not make economical sense for track owners to make CSC races 2 dayers. Double the expense with the same amount of income.
It is also a disservice to the racers themselves. Instead of having a day of maximum track time and maximum fun they get minimum track time and a day of sitting around waiting for their few minutes on the track. As was pointed out the length of heats and mains are shortened and even more potential track tame is lost.

Some classes need to be club series and not neccessarily CSC classes.
Which ones? That is what needs to decided first.

I don’t see the need to overhaul each class and start over with new equipment for some whim class of the week. What we have now is pretty much in tune with what is run across the country.

Something that needs to be corrected in the CSC itself is the clarification of WHO is the CSC? The perception to the karting public is that the CSC is a cohesive group of track owners with a common goal and interest. That isn’t really the case.
To the best of my knowledge there is not one track owner that is a stockholder or even sits on the Board of Directors.
The CSC is a LLC with one principle.
If anything the track owners are an informal advisory group with a lot of stroke due to the fact that they own the tracks that we run on.
Nothing really wrong with that. Politics influence everything in our world.

So… fewer races, fewer classes and defined direction.

    What are your suggestions?

The Red Bull event has nothing to do with the race event. It is just that. A “corporate event” for their employees and clients on Friday before any racers are allowed on the track on Saturday.
Saturday AM is the first opportunity for any registered participant to be on the track.

:rotate: C’mon Rich, stay on topic. Garrett was talking about the CSC in general. The GGP is a 2 day event unlike all of our other 1 day events.
    Don’t mix apples and oranges.

Please keep in mind this is NOT a CSC points class.
The engine for the CSC IMI sponsored Kid Kart class is the Honda.

    😉 More than 2!

6 sounds like a good round number.

Just a reminder that we will NOT be meeting tomorrow.
As Curt mentioned in his post we have broken out into smaller groups with tasks in hand.
We will meet in full force on Wednesday, May 3rd.
The billboard will be going up in Greeley next week at 10th and 59th so if you are in Greeley look for it.
We can still use as many volunteers as we can get for track build so let Curt know if you are available on Wed, Thu. or Friday prior to the race.
Entry form is up on the website.
Kid Kart Komer 50 class WILL be run at the GGP as long as there are enough entries to justify it.

Another good get together last night with the guys helping to put the race together.
Should have a track layout posted in the next few days so everyone can see what Doug and AJ have come up with.
Angie is finishing up the web page and will start getting info out on entry fees, hotels and all the other tidbits about the race.

:idn: Why, oh why is it neccessary to play with the weights. I have yet to hear a good reason for this. An advantage at one track is a disadvantage at another. So what! Is there some other interests that is pushing this. I don’t believe I have heard any racer standing up and asking for this. Am I mistaken?

😀 😀 Thanks to everyone that made it to the meeting.
Hope you now understand what a great opportunity as well as a challenge this race can be.
There are many roles to be filled and with the talent and enthusiasm shone last night I am sure we can “git ‘er done”.

See you next week when we meet again.
