ParticipantWe had another open meeting last night and it was great to see some new faces. Things are progressing very well at this time. Angie has started this GGP Topic area to stay informed as to the status of this event.
I will be starting a thread just to focus on Track Safety and Corner Workers. Others will be starting their own threads on their area of responsibility. So keep checking in and please step up and pitch in wherever possible.
On another note, some of us will be driving up to the facility in Greeley on Sunday to take some measurments and discuss track layout… The time as of today for Sunday is 12:00 – 1:00.
Next meeting will be Tuesday, 2-28-06 at 7:00PM. Same place.

InactiveThank Curt,
Made the first meeting but last night was not an option. As discussed in the initial meeting, Roman and I will help with track set up. I am also working to secure perimeter fencing and rescue vehicles for the event. ( not for sure, but were getting closer) I’ll keep group updated.

ParticipantRusty, Drew, Rick, AJ, Ian and I met at the GGP location yesterday and achieved a great deal of progress on track design and lay-out. Everyone had some good ideas and we found ways to make the race surface longer, safer and more efficient as far as entry, exit, pre-grid, hot grid, hot lanes for qualifying and scales/tech area.
The race surface looks smooth and fast, and the pit layout will be very convienant for the tuners and racers.A reminder that the meeting this week will be tomorrow at 7:00. Same place.

ParticipantThe meeting tonight has been postponed until next Wednesday, 3-15-06.
Same time and location. Sorry for the late notice, we just heard from Rusty and tonight is going to be rough on a few normal attendees.
The list of corner workers continues to grow and the scheduling of the “Corner Worker Workshop” is still slated for late March or early April. A firm date will be posted soon.
Thanks,

ParticipantAnother good get together last night with the guys helping to put the race together.
Should have a track layout posted in the next few days so everyone can see what Doug and AJ have come up with.
Angie is finishing up the web page and will start getting info out on entry fees, hotels and all the other tidbits about the race.Rusty

InactiveAnyone have the actual address of the meeting place. Since I don’t know denver I have to rely on my GPS to actually get me someplace in Denver. I think this is on the south side, which is probably a 90 minute drive at rush hour and I don’t want to get lost.
Hope to see the gang on wednesday.

ParticipantDennis,
Depending on where you are coming from…..Santa Fe and Beleview is where you want to end up. Take Belleview west towards Federal. Turn right just before the auto parts store (Checker Auto I believe). We are in the building behind the auto parts store and in front of the Fed Ex Dist. center.
Rivieria Electric
Come in the front door and up the steps to the right to the second floor.

ParticipantJust a quick update on last night?s meeting.
It was nice to see another new face, excuse the pun, in the crowd as Don New came to find out what we were all up to. What Don found was another spirited meeting bursting with passion, ideas, agreements and disagreements. A typical meeting on Wednesday is spent having all the team leaders discuss their weekly progress and then discussing ideas on how to solve the next big issue on hand. Promoting a kart race is a lot like construction, its problem solving at its highest levels. Someone once told me, ?there is a solution to every problem, and if you do not have the solution, then you are the problem?. God I miss that guy.Anyway, my primary responsibility is track safety and corner workers. My biggest problem today is not having enough flags, and too many corner workers! Who would have thunk it? We are going to have two classes for our corner workers just before the event, and we have a full fleet of rescue vehicles at this time. Things are pretty well in safety land.
Let?s just hope that Doug and AJ have too many track set-up and tear down folks, Scott has too many major sponsors, Drew has too many VIP?s to announce to, Jay has too many pre-registered races to pit, the hotel does not have enough rooms? These are the type of problems we are looking forward to solving. All in all, we are moving very fast with this race and the calendar seems to be racing by at F1 speeds.
When you see the pre-registration form hit the GGP site you may want to jump fast and procure a pit and hotel rooms before you end up in one of the many cattle pens. This race is going to be something special in just its first year. Rumor has it we will have 13+ entries from our friends in Utah. Those guy?s are scary fast! Plus, we are already looking at adding another ? mile of STREET to the 2nd Annual GGP. How is that for a teaser?
Thanks again to Duff and Craig for the on-site marketing efforts they are working on at CNS. We all would like to thank all of the efforts put forth by everyone who has attended our meetings, and I look forward to seeing new faces at the meetings to come.

ParticipantThe meeting last night went very well and I will be posting the set-up & tear down schedule, and action register to the team soon.
This will mark the end of the typical Wednesday meetings. (Mikey will need to find a new drinking buddy for the next few weeks.)The team leaders will now break up into their own groups to fine tune what each and every one of us will be doing over the next few weeks as we approach this event.
I will say that everything is falling into place very nicely. Even though this is an event put together by a bunch of passionate karters, we are going to have one Hell-of-a-Race.
The pre-entry form is now up on the GGP site along with the Hotel information. As stated in my last post, get your pit spot reserved SOON!
There will be informative posts by others that will be provided over the next few days including: Fire rules, pit rules, boom box information, move-in and set-up schedules…
A few of us will be at CNS Saturday afternoon/evening to promote this event with a kart display and informative handouts. I just want to see the figure 8 and train races myself.
Take Care, and feel free to call if you have any questions or have any warm bodies ready to pitch in and help.
Curt

InactiveI sent Jay a pit request and have heard nothing.
What’s up?
April 21, 2006 at 4:00 pm #52908Curt Kistler
ParticipantI can’t speak for Jay, but if you fill out your Pre-Entry form and turn it in you will be guaranteed a prime spot Rich.
We also have your name on our volunteer list and you will be called upon to pitch in somewhere as we discussed at the meeting you attended.
We appreciate your staying on top of the GGP activities and I am looking forward to reading your news letter as soon as I can get my hands on one. Thanks,

ParticipantJust a reminder that we will NOT be meeting tomorrow.
As Curt mentioned in his post we have broken out into smaller groups with tasks in hand.
We will meet in full force on Wednesday, May 3rd.
The billboard will be going up in Greeley next week at 10th and 59th so if you are in Greeley look for it.
We can still use as many volunteers as we can get for track build so let Curt know if you are available on Wed, Thu. or Friday prior to the race.
Entry form is up on the website.
Kid Kart Komer 50 class WILL be run at the GGP as long as there are enough entries to justify it.Rusty
