Don’t even think about blameing any of the carnage we had to a low track grip issue. When we all have to run on a good hard compound tire, that would seperate the men from the boys, or the women from the girls, then you might have an issue.
I know many karts were a little tight, some even two wheeling.
If you think our tracks have a low grip problem, what are you going to do when you rain race?

“It looked like from my view someone two wheeled it and ran over him”

I bet at least the guy that was two wheelen it didn’t think the grip level was too slick.

I don’t have a kid in the battle. But I do think that if you are teching a set gear ratio, it better go along with a max and min. tire roll out too.
1/2 an inch in circumfrence is a little more than 1 tooth on the rear.
Just a rim width rule wont prevent some people from growing or shrinking their tires for that little advantage that only their kid needs.
You also should mention no skip tooth sprockets along with an inspection of the front sprocket for the number and condition of it’s teeth.

My Tech director is still working out the rules, There will be the 225 and over PRO class. The 180-224 S-1 semi pro. Then the 120-179 light weight class. Yet just for a heads up all classes will allow the same equipment to be used, so pick your class based on your abilities.

A indication of the state, or even a town would go a long way at making a reader more interested. Sunset speedway hummm, it must be on the west coast somewhere.
I clicked and looked through your forum and couldn’t find anything on the rules.

Jason I like to use two strings and two bars, level the strings from back to front and make them parallel,”measure the same across the back and front”,squareing booth sides, then lock/bunge cord/block, the pitman arm so that the tie rod holes are horizontailly level, then start setting up the front end with the streering wheel in a measured straight forward pitman arm position.
The kart should be on leveled scales/stands/floor so you can measure your caster/chamber/ and other stuff while your at it. Your body in the kart will effect all of them. Have fun.

Craig, I don’t know man, I would feel a little bit better if I was down loading on Marilyn’s laptop instead of yours. I just don’t have any experiance with hairy apples. 😯

Maybe next year, CSC could give $$ incentive to sign up early in order to get procrastinator’s like me to send it in? Or a $$ penelty for joining late.
If something cost the same today or next month, why would anyone pay in advance? I know it makes it better/easier for the orginization recieving the funds, yet the supporter is left with no incentive to join early.

Gee Curt, This class and the comer class are the only classes I have seen so far that comes with just about complete instructions for every peace required. I know we like to throw the instructions to any thing away before reading them, yet I bet even you could tech these things now if you read the instructions and follow them. At least we don’t have to be politically incorrect and post them in seven different languages. 😆

AHH, come on now, My Rodology doesn’t have enough class to race Pro.
Unless of coarse someone out there wanted to add me along with some tech support, pit help and just a couple of them ICC things.
How do you hook up these moto motors to a flow bench?
Do you guys do leakdown tests on Reeds?
Why don’t you 2 cycle guys run on meth instaed of gas?
I am loading up and heading down to IMI today.

Rusty I am just a big kid that never stopped asking “Why”.

Sorry Rusty, it was just the next question that would come up anyway.
Really you should thank me for bring it up now instead of after it happens.
We are getting along, you just have a tuff job ahead of you dealing with racers.

Maybe we could also require bulls eyes taped to the back of the helmets of drivers that have recieved 3 black flags through out the season?
I will be proud to run an X on the back of mine this year for my first season of shifter racing. Is winter over yet down there?

    Grate dicussion!
One reason I am bring up tire preping is because I have been seeing several different attempts at doing just that in the pits over the last couple of years.
Open flame in the pits, I think is a no no?
I even wonder if it is legal to clean your tires between heats with a heat gun, like I see many others doing, including myself.
Then the plastic jugs daping on “oh it’s just a cleaner” with kids standing by to help out with the cancer causing tire prep.
If heat guns are allowed can I use a heat box, or heating plankets?
It’s not that I want to, it’s more of, If I don’t, somebody else might do it and bet me with things that I am all ready capable of doing.

Todd, Thanks for your feed back. Just one comment though.

“As far as trimming rain slicks down. That would gain no benefit. In a situation of a track getting dry you need all the rubber you can get because a dry track will eat rains for lunch. “

A dry track may eat rain tires for lunch, but I think an intermediate track would work quite well with cut treaded tires. I think the rules say any treaded tire, there are harder treaded tires available other than just rain tires. That is why I put Rain tires in “……”
Again,no big deal, I just enjoy good discusions.

Hay, I dug threw my tire pile found these MG yellow tires but some of them have SL written on them. Do they still make MG yellow SL tires?

Gee whizz, I was correct for once.
Now back to my question, sence there is not going to be a spec’ed rain tire, and the racer can choose between slicks or rain tires, give me one good reason for not allowing grooved slicks?
I don’t really care one way or the other, my only point is that we seem to embrace every word of someone elses rules with out questioning the reasons for them. I want to thank everyone that is working to customize our rules to fit our needs. Monkey see, monkey do, doesn’t fit the racers needs all the time.
I could live with no grooved slicks, just as long as I don’t see any shaved treaded “rain” tires.
Sence we are talking tire rules, what are the rules and enforcement of tire cutting/ interior and exterior tire dopeing/ Tire pre heating/ heat or chemical cleaning?

Thanks Shocky, I didn’t know what SKUSA rules had in store for us.
You seem proud of your race directors poor judgement.
I can say that all the rain races I have been to or watched has always left the tire choice up to the race team. F1/SCCA/ and all street races that I attended in the past. We almost saw it in Mexico Cities Bush race last weekend too.
Sounds like the race director in Canada messed up. Would it not be better to let the ones paying to play, choose to make their own mistakes?

I know that Rock Island held some rain races last year. Was there a transition period with karts on the track with rains and slicks?

Shouldn’t Kyle Ray have to run two air boxes and a cork in his exhaust?
    😛
If we can run harder MG tires, will we be required to run all four of them with the same compound?
Can we mix and match the two different MG red tires on the kart?
Will club racers be mixed in with CSC racers on CSC dates?
