ParticipantSkusa says that the new MG FZ tire will not be able to be used untill summer, but there are mass amounts of them here in Denver now, I assume we will be allowed to use the FZ come the first race. Also we can use VP RS7 or RC3 at any fuel mix ratio right?? Will the 2004 style airbox’s (filtered CIK Box) be allowed on ICC’s the whole season?
Thank you for your time

Thanks, and welcome abord :cheers:March 23, 2005 at 5:35 pm #50251Mike Jansen
ParticipantWhat about bean oil? Rotax engines run on sythetic and not the bean oil. Please clarify this, thank you

ParticipantMike,
Since the RS7 and MS93 has already been announced, I think we rotaxians are good to go. Thats a very good combination for us.

ParticipantAre aftermarket airboxes legal for TAG, there was a post from a tech somebody on EKN saying no……but there are a few about at testing…
We really need an answer before we start….! !March 24, 2005 at 3:23 am #50254Tom Dennin
ParticipantYou know I would like to know about the airbox issue as well. I have read the rule and I need to know if a cik-fia 2003 KG airbox is legal. It literally says 2003 on it. I am assuming that means homologated in 2003. I also would like to know if a Righetti Ridolfo (sp) is legal. Understand, I do know the wording of the rule in TAGUSA.
Quoted from the TAGUSA rules:
2.1. AIR BOX – CIK or, RLV approved air box with two inlet tubes not to exceed 22.0 mm (+/- 1.0 mm) inside diameter and 95.0 mm minimum length. The 2004 homologated CIK, KG and Freeline boxes are not legal.
I have e-mailed Marty Casey and Dave Larson to no avail.
Let it be known, I believe both of the airboxes I have questioned above should be legal. We are less than a month out to the first race. Time to test is starting to run short. If they are deemed illegal, please let me know why I would appreciate it very much. Jetting is hard enough here in CO without wasting time with illegal equipment.
Thanks and welcome aboard Dennis,
Tom

ParticipantI talked personally with Marty Casey about this air box issue early this week. All 2004 CIK homologation air boxes are illegal. That includes the 2004 R/R.
The reason for the 22 mm dimension relates to some older boxes that are slightly larger than 22mm that were shipped on many engines, including Leopards and others. Also, some engines came with RLV boxes that were slightly over 22mm. According to Marty, he felt that he needed to put a dimension on the air tube size so that all of the older size homologations would be legal and the tolerance was generious so that no one would get dq’ed. It was not intended to sneak in the new style boxes which are clearly not allowed.
The reason for not allowing the newer style boxes in Tag is to help control costs to the racers. The newer style boxes do create a little more power and most racers would have to go out and get a new box at a cost of around $100. Not a single engine comes with the new box any way.

ParticipantTo all,
I truely appreciate all the help and advice that Doug has provided me in the last year. I would like to hear it directly from the tech director for the CSC Mountain SKUSA region, that way there will be no misinterpretation. Dennis tell me/us what you will DQ with regards to airboxes in the TAG class.
Why would the 2003 KG box be illegal? The flutes measure under 23mm and extend greater than 95mm in length. Obviously from the date imprinted on the box it was not homologated in 2004. Therefore, it should be legal. It does not break any of the TAGUSA rules in section 2.1 I also would like to know why the RR airbox is illegal??? Not simply that it is illegal. Spending money on a new airbox doesn’t seem to breaking any of the rules in TAGUSA section 2.1
All I want is a legal airbox with holes that measure 22mm (+/-1mm) that extent greater than 95mm in length and isn’t a 2004 homologated cik,KG or freeline box. I think the I have found one in the 2003 KG box.
If it wasn’t important to me to not break the rules I would not be bothering with this.

InactiveI have a question Mr. Zickrick, I wrench for a friend who race’s TaG Masters. We use a radiator that is left over from our shifter days, it cost a ton of money and has hours of fabrication time to make brackets look and work right on this kart. Since this is not a go-fast item will this be a problem to run this year, there was not one word said about it last year.

ParticipantGeorge,
Hope this helps:
TAGUSA rules from http://www.tagusa.net
2.8. COOLING SYSTEM – Coolant may not contain any Glycol based material. Water wetter or other surfactants may be added. Radiator OPEN used as supplied by manufacturer, or after-market product. (Must be mounted to right or the left of the driver)

InactiveIn the mini max Rear bumper rule it says that the wide bumpers are not required for this year. What the width of a bumper to be call a “wide bumper”? Or is it any rear bumper this year and the wide bumper next year only? :idn:
