I am going to step in on this one…

First, the weather in the ‘Springs is good according to a client of mine and should be this weekend. But you know Colorado…

Second, my first race as a newbie I qualified mid pack. I was comfortable with wheel to wheel and I KNEW MY LIMITATIONS. If you don’t feel comfortable then by all means move to the back, at your discretion. Just don’t make a banzai move in a corner thinking you’re Schumacher or a Senna. That is what gets my blood up. Again, know your limitations.

Finally, we’ve talked about marking the newbies with an “x” on the rear plate, helmet, seat whatever. As long as it’s done then I/we know what we’re up against! And yes, it should be enforced and I for one will bring it up at the next race. I am not singling anyone out, I just want others to know that yes, you might get nervous side by side or in close proximity and I am going to look out for you and myself, nothing else. Aspire to rid yourself of the “x”. That should be your goal! Look at Kimi Raikkennen, he was on probation his first race in F1 then qualified midpack and the probation was gone after the race!

Jim really wasn’t that good a sailor. I called the SORC and they said the commitee boat had to haul him out of the water more times than they can remember when he fell out getting ready to “come about”

I just put up flourescent lights in my other two bays in my garage. Today I have a sore side so I’d say it’s a pulled muscle and nothing broke. Not that it matters it still hurts. But now at least I can clean my kart in REAL lighting!

Good luck this weekend guys and gals..

And let me tell you, it hurts watching you all when I could be taking 1st

Hopefully my seat will be in wednesday, then I’ll be out there testing. Until then I am still chewing advils like they were from a PEZ dispenser! OUCH!
Anyone wanna buy a 1/4 tillet seat, large??? It’s good if your less than 5’10”

    Stacey,

    Let me clarify…

Races being stopped by red flags and the associated delays are understandable. I think you all did a FANTASTIC job of getting us out when you did! I thought we’d be done a heck of a lot later than when we did to be blunt and I was fine with that since what happened was unaviodable. (By the way, we know how Duff is you want to fill us in on your emergency excursion? :idn: )

It just irks me when I hear the constant droning of “there’s a drivers meeting” and then we wait till the slow few come slumbering up, then ask what they missed :bang That is disrespectful of your time, mine and everyone else’s.

Again, your “boyz and girlz” did a great job getting everyone asembled, gridded and gone. I just hope that the other tracks can follow your example! And the sammys :burger from the BEAR ROCK CAFE were second to none.

    Constantly changing, always improving…

And on that note I have to say this:

Drivers meetings are supposed to be short, sweet and to the point. Period. I was guilty of not showing up on time for the meeting for the same reason as last year. My time is VALUABLE. If you say you’re going to start it at 10 then follow up on your words. I sat in my pits and changed my tires while the meeting was supposed to start. How many others felt that way?

And another thing. Short, sweet and to the point is just that. I don’t want to hear rambling in a meeting that should have been over in 15 minutes (valuable track time). Make your point and move on, next issue…

Finally, I realize quite a few people didn’t have the ability at this race to practice on the saturday due to proms and babies being born but I think that one practice session on race morning is enough or make the second one 5 minutes (or the first one shorter and the second one the standard 10)

We have room to improve, I think we’re doing a great job, now keep constantly looking for improvements!

I am looking forward to those 20 lap mains!

    Chaz,

The corner workers do a great job! I know I reacted a little harshly to a young worker when he asked me to pull my kart into the infield farther (inside of the track not on the outside of the racing line) and I aplogized to him when the wrecker came to collect me. Sometimes we get heated but that is NOT a reason not to go back and say you’re sorry.

As for this weekend, realize one thing (I did from my contact with Rich Vito @ CSC @ IMI last year coming over the hill) contact is just a lottery ticket to have the type accident that Duff was involved in, kartwheels and a junkyard for what’s left of a frame.

However, we can point out drivers with “vapor lock.” Then, get them off the track to make them think of their actions. But if it’s happening in F1 (Rubens overly agressive pass last year that took him out, cant remember which race) and Nascar don’t think it won’t happen here. I am PROUD of the action that Jack Warrington, Rich Vito and Lee Gagna have at times. Does this mean we’re not agressive drivers? Heck no, but it means you get past me or stick a nose up to my sidepod and then i’ll give you the room you need and no more! Am I going to squeeze someone off the track like I’ve seen? No, I’d have to live with myself and couldn’t look in the mirror with that kind of BS.

Again, kids, adults, teens Parents… it’s the first race of the season and things will settle down. Reiterating rules, education and penalties for being stupid will make things settle down (AND IF IF IF YOU ARE GOING TO SAY YOU’RE GOING TO HAND DOWN A PENALTY THEN DAMMIT DO IT. HAVE THE BALLS TO HAND THEM OUT) Want an example? Cold pits is just that. Do it and you’re penalized or DQ’d, period. Fighting in the pits or conduct unbecoming of a driver or crew? Throw their butt out for 6 months or 6 races.

Concerned about the size of someone? I’ll be more than happy to be the enforcer. I bounced at a bar in college it was fun (and I was bigger) Just enforce what you say, period. Actions speak louder than words. You’ll get the results we all want to see. If someone has to drive home from being 86’d at an event let them think of that on their way home. But always remember rule #1: “you can always tell an idiot, you just cant’ tell them much”. Don’t expect them to understand why you sent them home all they can see is how everyone’s out to get them, it wasn’t their fault, yada yada yada.

Now, GJMS did a great job! Were they perfect? No. But then again who is. Keep up the good work you all involved in SKUSA and CSC. Looking forward to seeing you all at Bandi… With some good hard racing and (hopefully) you’ll seperate the classes with the most entries. They deserve such. Again, if a class has only 2-3 entries this needs to be addressed. Is it a hard decision? Of course! But sticking our head in the sand is not an option. Besides, Ostriches live in Australia not here! 😆

Lastly, weaving and blocking is not a style of driving! Drive your line and you can move once and once only. AJ Noud is a perfect example of this. If any of you missed it, coming down the straight he was mid track to protect and then moved over to the racing line to enter #1 corner. He did it also around the fast left hand sweeper. And AJ won the race in the second best specator class (we all know what class is number one in my unbiased opinion 8) )
That is how a professional driver protects his lead and earns my respect. Weaving is for baskets or drunks, not driving during a race…

    Just my 2 sense worth

    Rich,

I wished for 20 lap finals and I still want to stick to that! Of course, I didn’t finish one lap so I can’t really speak for 20 now can I. Better start running and training for the 20’s…

    Like the coloured rear plates!

If you combine classes it allows us to know who is ahead of us.

Glad you all enforced this rule.

Ben, since i did so poorly yesterday I stopped at the gas station and got a Red Bull and a chocolate chip ice cream sandwich! Then washed it down with a few Nutter Butters. It took the sting out of not putting a lap on my kart in the main. Of course, the sugar buzz meant I didn’t sleep well but hey, that’s another story!

    My opinion:

Fast track, begining of the season, everyone’s a little amped to begin and viola. You have a few overly Agressive passes and accidents occur.

PLEASE, would you all learn (and teach your kids) what the flags mean! I don’t know what class it was (kadets???) but the remaining field was stopped at the start finish line and the back markers came through the final corner like they were on fire. That, was an accident I didn’t want to see and I turned my back. Darren, whatever you did to stop the carnage, thank you.

GJMS, you did a great job organizing and getting us gridded and such. Kudos to you.

Suggestion: Please, if a transponder isn’t working you’d know in a lap or two. Black flag those transponder pilots, give them a new one and then they (still) have time to qualify. This happened to me @ Bandimere last year so we need to improve on that (still)

    Ben,

Once again, all those Quarter pounders (with cheese) Fries (supersize me) and milk shakes (more salt in that then on your fries) have lessened your ability to

    Stacey,

That WAS the code I gave!

They said that they didn’t want the riff raff of “our kind” I didn’t know whether to be honoured or offended!

By the way, is saturday a full Test and Tune or is the RMC going on during the day? I didn’t remember any closure on that issue…
