Would there be any doubt that he would watching out? He is kind of like the watch dog type. You’ve got a great dad!

Kudos to you Jed! You tried to walk away 3 times but I think the other party thought he was standing on the street corner with his friends. It went way further than it should have. We need to act like adults out there and just keep having fun. :

    Hello Jed, Hello Ellee
I Ken Pearce would like to apologize to anybody who was offended by the language or the rude behavior of my pit after the Main Senior 4 Stroke at IMI.

Jed I would have done the same thing. I have three daughters and would be very anxious if they were to race karts. This was my first race and I did not feel good about the outcome after the incident with Ellee. I really felt that there was plenty of room going through that corner behind Gonzallis. Jed I feel bad about this incident and want to say that I am sorry for any grief caused race day.

Ellee I talked to you at the track but still fell bad about the race. Only you and I really know the events that occurred going into the corner. I am new to racing and maybe to aggressive. Please accept my apology for anything that happened race day.

    Sincerely Ken Pearce

If this accident was caused by a Newbie as is indicated above:

Did he have the marking he was suspose to have?

Should he have been cautioned about starting at the rear of the field?

New racers should take accountability and start at the rear of the field on their own, until they gain experience.

This is what happens when you have a Newbie in the mix of experienced karters. It costs $$$$$ to the Clampet’s

I think Bobby should bring this up at every race: anybody’s first race or first season should start at the back in heats and finals until they prove themselves to Bobby and fellow class racers. I keep harpening on this but nothing ever gets done–DO SOMETHING!!!

This goes to all the Track owners and the CSC staff!

I kind of agree with Rich Vito, more explanation and talks need to be given to us “the newbies” Race line concepts that might not be obvious for some etc.
I was watching the whole thing when it happened and I think it was a race incident, cuased or not by a newbie is not the real issue, (it happened to experience drivers in the HEAT ) The issue here is what happend between Mr. Pierce’s PIT crew and and Allee’s father. The profanity of both parties, the agresiveness of both Parties etc. I have two Daughters and I am very protective as well… but we are all adults!

I do not know if the Race Director called the drivers and get things straight as soon as they got back to the pits, but it was obvious that there were more things to be said or explained.

Now the question that remains is:
What is IMI going to do next time there is a similar accident? or a similar Incident?

I didn’t see what happened, but was anyone adhering a blue cross flag? If that was the case, newbie or not, starting a newbie at the back of the pack may not have prevented the incident.
But, if you guys want newbies to automatically be sent to the rear of the field, vote on it. Then bring it to the track owners.

    Ian,

It was already agreed to at the pre season meeting that New drivers or inexperienced drivers would have some sort of marking on the rear of their kart or helmut. The track management needs to follow the rules also, not just the drivers.

It wasn’t done at CSC-GJ or last Sunday.

When I started off in shifters I started in the rear for the first half of the year. I had compassion for my fellow drivers-I didn’t want to get in their way and I didn’t want to get hurt or hurt somebody else.

Matter of fact I started in the last position Sunday of my heat because the kart wasn’t running right!

    Rich,
I agree w/you. I think that anyone new to karting should have an “X” placed on the back of their helmet to identify themselves as a newbie. We should also let the new competetors be aware that they will start in the rear of the field for the 1st few races until they are up to speed. I think it should be the same at all the tracks, just for consistency. The main thing is to address these things in the drivers meeting, not just the forum.

    Ken,
No harm, no foul. Sometimes things happen that cannot be fully controlled and the “incodent” was one of those things. Since no one was seriously injured it was just racing. And you and i handeled the situation quiet well. It sucks the way your first race ended, but theres always a new day.

    Rich,
    What kind of markings?
I’m new out here with my daughter and noone has said anything about markings for rookies.
I put yellow tape on her rear number plate the 2nd race of my own accord, and talked to her about starting in the back of her class, but we’ve qualified there anyway.
