wow, my first post in…. years

I like the attitude towards combining this and making it a win win for all track owners. CSC WAS THE BEST SERIES EVER and it was due to classes with tire restrictions and multiple motor options (in TaG you had, Biland, Leapord, Rotax, Motori, Sonic, etc, etc) When there are multiple tracks involved certain engines had an advantage and slightly less at the next venue. Regaurdless, isn’t that just like NASCAR, FORMULA 1 and INDY??? Scott Falcone and others talented like him can and could take the engine equasion and pretty much make it competitive anywhere run. As long as we don’t see engine changes at different tracks.

Keep moving forward. AJ, you’re right, I think EVERYONE has the shades taken off and are seeing Colorado Karting for what is was and what it can become: Big fields with great competition and getting back to fun minus the ego and politics.

    Angel,

this is the 20 something annual Boyz Ski Trip and I’m off to DIA to pick up two friends coming in from New York. By the way, this is the trip that trashed my shoulder last year so Copper Mountain is going to get a good redemption… 8)

    Doug,

You’ve got a lot of valid points and thanks for the courage to put it out there. I disagree with only this one issue:

    1) counts were up when we DID have TaG. Leapords, Rotax, Sonic, BiLand etc etc. It works at the SuperNationals it would work here. I do like the “everyone runs the same tire option” to equalize that variable. This did and does work. Buying the newest engines is just a future boat anchor to embellish on what Brad told me years ago.
    2) Spec racing in TaG with all the same engine? Really? If it’s so about the driver then let’s put everyone on the same chassis and motor and tire and then TRULY SEE THE TALENT. So, what chassis do you all want to use? 8)

I can see both sides of the fence with sanctioning. Florida Winter Tour is independent and is VERY successful. Hell, they took our business model and kept at it while we lost our focus and kept our egos! Independent or sanctioned, I don’t care but it’s either one or the other not an alphabet soup of orgainizations here. Like a good single Malt, when you dilute it the product sucks. 😀

Stock Moto IS THE WAY TO GO. It’s reliable and cost effective. Period. The days of ICC are done, just another boat anchor IMO…

Let’s get back on track, and get EVERYONE on board. There is no perfect solution gentlemen but there is the right thing to do and it puts MONEY in all track owners pockets. Set aside your bitchen’ ego’s and you can make it happen. Just like a marraige, leave the past in the past and move forward.

Cheers and let’s keep up the discussion and be adults and not throw insults at each other. I’m bald. There, I said it. Now move forward and GIT R DONE…

Thanks Doug for some very good memories.
All this does is make me a little bummed that we can’t set aside egos and do what’s best for all. RACE AT EACH AND EVERY TRACK HERE IN COLORADO.
Involve Kutcher and SKUSA gang, I don’t care. Let’s all race with bigger fields. Like they just did at the Nats….

    I’m just sayin…

Bernie always pulled this crap with Silverstone. I hope that this is one of those negotiating ploys because the place looks great!

Pull up a chair, get some popcorn and let’s see what shakes…

Craig, I was thinking the same thing!

I was there in 09 and it was inspiring and awesome all at the same time. It’s sad that Dan Wheldon won’t be there but that is another story.

AJ and Rocky Mountain Kartworks; Mike Urban and all of the new Arrow team; Scott Falcone and Brian Robson (my brothers in competition who I sorely miss competing against) I wish you all good luck and good fortune there! Have fun, compete hard and well and I’ll be listening.

Few things to say from a Guy who’s passionate about racing and has been racing here since 2001.

    1) IRL vs. CART in open wheel racing and FOTA vs. FOM in Formula 1 (late 70’s early 80’s for you too young to remember or were not born) proves that with splits the only ones that win are NOBODY. Indy is FINALLY rebuilding itself but still a little ways away from pre 1996 glory. DIVISION divides.

    2) Too many classes, too many (future) boat anchors. Perhaps spec racing IS the way we should do it but I for one love SKUSA SuperNationals when TaG Masters, Seniors, and Juniors run several variations of engines: Rotax, Leapord, Motori, BiLand, Rok, etc, etc. I applaud Jim Keesling to try and combine engines to a spec racing level of racing. While it sounds good, seeing what I saw at the Rotax Grands where teams had 10 plus engines on a dyno to squeeze the very best of the lot is not the spirit of racing. Or is it? Money helps make karts faster. Seen it in all variants of motorsports. But so does talent but I digress. While Jim’s decision to 86 anything other than a Rotax is commendable I think the timing was possibly too late due to the next point:

    3) it’s the economy stupid. We can say what we can but motorsports is expensive and with disposable dollars being squeezed nowadays how many people are sitting on the sidelines due to lack of funds or sponsorship? More than we care to admit.

    4) Richie, Brad, JB (when he’s well), Jim, Roger and Stacey need to once again set aside the egos and move forward. Is what we have now working for y’all? I for one would relish the smell of two stroke engines while coming down the starting straight of ANY of the tracks. That and the smell of me cooking BBQ the night before the weekend! It’s possible it really is. But compromise and a wee bit of flexibility is needed.

Richie, GIT R DONE! My hat’s off to you for extending the olive branch to get this process started. The rest of us need to show a little patience and (quite possibly) show some civility and SHUT OUR MOUTHS for a while.

Cheers all. Shoulder is healed. Back in the gym. Getting ready for next season. In what class I don’t know. What I do know is I’ll be manning the grill next time out, beer in hand. :co

Well, I’m back from driving from California (that blew) and then unpacking and getting the missus into the new digs (that was fun) and then I walk into this, after hearing about the Belgian GP BEFORE I WATCHED IT. When does it end?

Anyway, I kept shaking the large bag of buttered Popcorn and Curt was licking his lips but wasn’t biting (no pun intended).

The things I put up with. And by the way Tony, by all means see this movie. As a racer it has meaning on so many levels and I’m glad I got to see it firsthand, except that fateful day, 1 May 1994…

    Tony,

It’s an honour to say I know this young whippersnapper who (still) occasionaly pee’s on the floor like an excited puppy. But that’s youth isn’t it?

I’m so happy to know that you’re going to college. Remember one thing: College doesn’t make you smarter if you don’t have an open mind and question things every once in a while.

Go and do well in school. There’s a lot of people here that cheer those who we’d like to see contribute to society. Be one of those people.

Now, before you get all mushy and teary eyed like Rick does when i call him. Good luck, have fun and know when to work and when to play!

    Cheers Tony!

Theodore Racing?! Are you serious! That is so classic! Alan got Williams their first Driver’s championship in their FW07 (I think?) and he and Reutemman killed it that year. Oh, and Williams first constructors championship too. Gilles and Scheckter had a turd of a Ferrari after winning the 79 championship.

    Keep posting more…. PLEASE…

Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice photos Eric, I have one of Mansell in practically the same theme and I love it! Unfortunately, I can’t locate the negative (remember those) to get it blown up bigger.

    Curt, you ARE da man…
