ParticipantWe’re talking about waddling 20 feet here, not a lung-busting, aorta-splitting 20 YARDS.
Maybe this idea would fly better at the Centennial Winter Series. Those cats are a crazy bunch.

ParticipantI think TaG Masters should do a LeMans style start. Geezers and fatties will line up across the track from their machines (already breathing hard from the warm up lap), the flag man can drop a flag, at least ONE of us will trip each time, thus providing the giant crowds with great mirth. We will then have a nice, safe first corner.
I am proposing this change only at the CLUB level. I realize it may add a couple minutes to the schedule while we position the karts so maybe only do this type of start for the final?
And to address your poll, Ron, I vote for a TaG Masters class to be included in this season’s club schedule.

ParticipantNice press release, Tony. Home Depot will be calling soon.

ParticipantWhoa. So that’s what the big leagues look like, huh? Sounds like you did a great job on a big stage, David. Congratulations.
Now, I’m going to officially invite you to drive for Team HARDKart for next season. I’ve been evaluating your driving from the back of the field and critiquing your technique as you lap me. Well, I have good news for you. It turns out you have the chops to make it as a “B” Driver with our organization. I’m offering you a slot with our highly competitive organization. We have team shirts. We’re big time. Think it over.
Jim, sorry for poaching your driver. It’s just business, man.

http://www.cremotorsports.comTom, welcome to karting. Contact George at the number above for any questions you have about CRE and World Formula. George has a great track and atmosphere and has always been helpful to me.
To your specific questions, YES a 6’5″ 230 lb ‘er can find (much) happiness in karting. YES there are specific chassis available for taller drivers. You may want to check the Margay ‘limo’ chassis in particular. Other chassis may have an extended ‘front porch’ option available but I know for sure the Margay does. Who knows, you may fit in a ‘regular’ chassis?
Adequate budget?…that is the key question for everyone. Whether you are buying new or used will be a question that only you can answer. Used? you could have a race kart for 2 grand, New..4-5 grand and up. Better yet, drive up here to denver this saturday for the swap meet, most of us will be bench racing and there will be lots of low cost chassis’ and motors and parts.
See the other posts on this site for details on the swap meet. It would be a good opportunity for you to meet some nice people and learn about the sport. Hope to see you there.

ParticipantGet some, Zippie! If you don’t win, at least look good doing it. We’ll need pictures of the umbrella girls, too. WOOHOO!!

ParticipantAngie, thanks for working hard to get the site up (and improved!) again. Well done. I appreciate your hard work. Frankly, I got all twitchy when I couldn’t access the site for a few days.
Since the attachment feature is now rocking the hizzouse, let’s celebrate with another pic of Tony dreaming about being faster than me.

ParticipantI’m wondering who the hell complained when it was originally announced for Saturday (74 degrees with sun) and if those people happened to check the weather for sunday. I know people like to practise on saturday and race sunday but SOMETIMES there are extenuating circumstances like SNOW.
Oh well, I’ll be there saturday to have fun and get the cobwebs out. Sunday? well…ask me at 630 am on sunday when I look outside.

ParticipantNice job Angie. I was going through withdrawal. Thanks for your hard work.

ParticipantKeep on kicking ass, David! Wow, what a great opportunity. (I’m pretty jealous of your mad skillz and your chance to go race in Yourup)
Congrats to you and your super-tuner dad.

ParticipantMorning Josh. Just yank it out and test. Do a session or two to establish a baseline with your current setup, take out the front bar and try it out. It might turn your chassis to useless jello, OR you could drop some time.
I have been ‘afraid’ to make any drastic changes and constantly blamed my crappy driving. Then I talked to Anthony (tuner for the Birel guys under the Centennial tent) and he suggested taking the front bar out…what do ya know, I dropped a second off my times.
Sidenote: No one else I know (with an Easykart) has the front bar out. Go with what works for YOU.
post your testing results and your experience.

ParticipantWelcome, Sheldon. Welcome to the machine. Welcome to the addiction.
Drive out to IMI this weekend and watch some SERIOUS racing at the TaG Worlds. People will be there from all over the country. It won’t quite be the ‘big tent’ spectacle of the Rotax Nationals, but there will be some damn good talent racing.
Then mosey on down to Centennial for the last club race of the year the following weekend. Ask lots of questions. Swing by my semi trailer for champagne and caviar. (ok, stop by my Subaru for a Pabst.) Then I’ll convince you to run TaG Masters or stock moto and you’ll be happy forever.
Start saving your pennies. Start doing your research. Enjoy the trip.

ParticipantOr 20 bucks to have Brad or another shop do it for you (my choice-always).

Thanks for all the information……..If I ever find a kart I will join you in the old farts division…i mean the Tag Masters…sorry I hope I didnt hurt anyones feelings.
I plan on going to the IMI on Oct 6th to take in the sights and sounds…will you be there? If so tell me where.Tim
It’s ok, you can call us ‘old farts’. Jansen is a perfect example.
Have a good time looking around the pits, ask lots of questions, most people will be happy to chat with you.Hey, you might find a good deal right there at the track when you are looking around. Someone might wanna unload a lightly used chassis or motor.
