ParticipantBoth Jeff and Geg will run the Pro class. Jeff will miss several of the races due to school.

ParticipantIf we drop the wieght to 395, I have already been told by at least half a dozen drivers they will not participate unless we add another shifter class for the heavy drivers. We will not add another shifter class when we already have a heavy/old class. Five 125 shifter classes is nonsense. We already have one too many IMHO.

The SKUSA event at Grand Juntion does require SKUSA membership. I called SKUSA and asked them to consider a daily membership. My question for Colorado karters, how many of you would go to the PMT in GJ IF SKUSA allowed a daily membership for that event only?
As far as CRE goes, I think George switched to WKA.

ParticipantThe Comer pipe is in.

ParticipantIf it were up to me, I would do as Mitch suggests, spec tire. Then I could go to the tire mfg and get some money for specing their tire. Is the Yellow a better tire than YHC, duh, its not apples to apples. It is much softer. Is it better than a YHB, same duro but the YHB will kick its ass in intial grip.
What screwd this up was last year we allowed the Yellow as we thought it was a hard tire. When MG changed it to a softer compound, we let it stay because so many had already bought tires. But this year we can correct a mistake. That is why the yellow is out.

ParticipantBrad was in Seatle, the other engines did not tune them for the altitude and several ran like fat pigs. However, Casey told him that if the results were very clear that the weightws were wrong, the engines wouldn’t get out of qualifying before wieght went on. I say at this point, we should take SKUSA weights +20 and see what happens after the first PMT in Jax. That is before our first race and if the wieghts are off, SKUSA will correct them.
Better yet, lets see if we can get 40+ TaG guys at hte first race and then start a masters class.

ParticipantI have talked with Brad, J.B, Stacey and we all agree, the ground cams in the animal are OUT. The STOCK shapped cams are the ONLY cams that will be allowed in the CSC this year.

ParticipantAny and all data that you collect at IMI, Bandimere, Grand Junction or CRE is of absolutly no value to you at any other track, particularly if you are running a national level event. Also, if you think that what ever your balance or weights are of any consideration, you are wrong. Moving the weight and the seat is one of your best tools to get the kart to handle. I no longer check the balance of the kart, I no longer scale the kart as they are usless measurements and a complete waste of time. What is important is how the kart is handling and the conditions at a national level event are so different that any and all base lines you could come up with localy are irrelavent.
As far as adding weight. I have had more than 50# of weight on our karts since the early days of Junior 1 Briggs. Any argument that such amount of weight is unsafe or somehow detrimental to the kart are irrelevent and completely baseless. 50# of lead does two things, it gives me a tuning tool that some one with less weight doesn’t have and it hurts my back from lifting all the dead weight.

ParticipantGuys, I will make this very simple. The MG yellow is the same as the B’stone YHB. Are you guys asking for open tire? By insisting on the MG yellow, we need to open it up for the YHB. That also means that we need to open it up to include the Vega tires which will blow the MG yellow and B’stone YHB into the weeds. If we allow only the MG yellow, then we might as well make it a spec tire series for MG as none of the other tires (all hard tire componds) will be uncompetitive.
We have alway called our tire rule a durometer rule. We have used the B’stones as the tire that we will use as a base. Hard tires last longer and a racer can get more use out of them if they wish. That is why we have speced a harder tire for all the classes but the pro class. Because most of the racers need to be able to get more from their tires than a single race day.
If the yellow is in, then I strongly advocat that our series become open tire. In fact, I will insist on it.

I know how you feel, the 80 junior is one heck of a fast package and most 12 year olds aren’t ready for it yet. Last year, we didn’t have squat in Jr2 or novice. I do think that will pick up though. Maybe not Junior 2 but novice. I have heard that a couple are going to run it and I know of another that was just purchased and will be delivered into the area soon. I loved the 60 class when we ran it. The motors last forever and they are quick little karts.
I wouldn’t give up on TaG junior to soon. I think you will see restriced versions of it come out that run on a much lower wieght. That maybe your best bet.

ParticipantThe reason we took TaG +20 is that we do not have a masters class for the heavyer drivers. This may change if we have enough drivers to offer a masters class. We need to get 40 guys at the first race so that we can break it up into two classes. Then we can follow the weights exactly.

ParticipantTires for the CSC are by durometer. Basically its YHC or equilivent. We will have a list of tires up shortly. Engine rules are by SKUSA/TaG USA. We modify them a little bit to make room for our altitude.
Doug Welch
ParticipantRules, we don’t need no stink’en rules, we’re outlaws out here in the west pahd’ner. Acutally we will be folowing SKUSa rules but they are the same as TaGUSA rules per the joint announcement today.
