ParticipantThanks Brad.

ParticipantFrom what I understand M, K, or SA Snell ratings are all acceptable. Although personally I wouldn’t put my head in anything less than a K rating. I believe the most important standard is the year of the certification. Most sanctioning bodies in racing use a 10 year mark from my experience. At least SCCA and NASA do. I’m not sure about CSC or the club races but I believe they’re the same. So, for example, my K 2005 helmet should be acceptable until 2015. I think?

ParticipantBrad,
Is that Masters only, or all TaG classes? I don’t think I’ll have the weight to run Masters this season, so I’ll be running Senior. Just curious if I need to re-do my brakes.

I wish I could get this on my PS3 Gran Turismo 5 Prologue. It’s about the only way I will be able to drive an F430 on that track…
I haven’t used it but I’ve heard that Rfactor is an awesome simulater, although computer based IIRC, and Jeff said they have a model of HPR available already. I’d be willing to bet my left nut that they have an F430 model available as well.

I drove a shifter kart on HPR last night! It was sick. The track is good, the kart model needs some work.

ParticipantBuilding on Angel’s comment. If you feel comfortable doing the work yourself Leopard rebuilds will be way cheaper. This is due to the fact that if you want to remain RMax legal your Rotax will need to be rebuilt and sealed by a dealer.
From what I was hearing early last season Leopards were preffered at TTAC due to their powerband. But on the flipside of that comment I believe it was Doug Welch that stated that Rotaxs had won at all tracks in the CSC last year, including TTAC.

Hmmph… That’s what pushed me over the edge into getting a kart. 😳
Me too. The funny thing about this addiction that I’m sure we all suffer from is that there’s no hope of recovery. I think its hard wired into our brains. It has to be genetic, as I know I absolutely got the love of speed from my father.
I for one could not get a bike. My wife would divorce me and never let me see our daughter again. Its a good thing I have her around though. She keeps me from doing all the stupid fun stuff that I know would not only be a blast, but would probably kill me as well.
A rabid squirrel badger huh?
Sounds impressive.

ParticipantI just want to run a full club race season next year.
The split between the tracks might make me have to run 2 full club race seasons next year but we’ll see.

ParticipantBeing very new my opinion on this probably doesn’t matter much. But I’ll share it anyways.
I got my kart at the benefit for Bob early last February I think it was. Being that I started when we were experiencing some nice days mixed into sometimes weeks below freezing my situation was very similar to what you’re talking about now.
It takes about 5 minutes to drain your water. It takes about 2 minutes to fill. Water Wetter is very cheap, as is distilled water. Engines are very expensive. Refill before any nice days that you get out on the track and drain it when you get home. Its cheap insurance. If you have to end up replacing an engine due to plain old laziness you’ll be very pissed at yourself.
Besides, that extra time it takes to drain at the end of the day allows for one (or two) more beens. :loony:

ParticipantSounds awesome, but a lot of work to put on. I’d offer help putting it on but as a newbie I’d be completely distracted by the event. Needless to say I, for one, would certainly be there. And if there’s anything I could do to help make sure it happens hit me up.

ParticipantNo worries, Friday and Saturday work best for me so I’ll give you a ring next Thursday or so.

ParticipantDid you get mine Rick?

$3000k for a 6.5 honda powered kart? Who the hell would buy it? It shouldn’t cost more than $2,000.
Honda clone at that.
I completely agree. $3k can get a decent TaG kart w/ spares. Of course, that’s not brand new, but its still a kart that performs a lot better.

ParticipantJon, I didn’t believe it would happen either. After the first attempt fell through I just thought it a futile effort. The SCCA folks have also made a hell of an effort. Yeah, a shifter would be sweet for a track like that. If you take that 944 out there next year I’d gladly pay for a ride in beer or gas.
