What can I say other than to echo everybody elses thoughts. Rich was a good man who definately kept everybody here on their toes. Unfortunately I was not able to meet him in person until that horrible day. Our thoughts are with you and your family Gayle.

    RIP Rich.

I concur Ricky Booby. A credit to the community.

We’re still keeping our fingers crossed for Rich and you Gayle.

So this morning after my post I had a friend at work send him a facebook message as I don’t mess around with the myspaceytwit crap. Apparently that might have done the trick as I actually had a text message returned by him later.

Buxman claims that he’ll either mail a money order soon or “hand deliver” it next week, along with a bunch of empty threats. Should be interesting to see what happens, but I doubt nothing will as he’s claimed he would “hand deliver” the chassis in the past.

At least he’s no longer ignoring me.

I would add to that quote that for the SKUSAMR the age requirement for Masters is 30 rather than 35. At least that’s what the handbook they handed out at the IMI banquet says. I know that isn’t the official word though.

    Over a month later.

Multiple emails, multiple attempts calling and texting. Still no response/chassis/check from this guy.

Bump for any help contacting Buxman.

I designed a racetrack around my shop building, one for karts, one for cars. I can make an oval around my building if there are no cars in the parking lot in 17.1… Which is the track record over Ian Koentges by .05.

We have an oval in the basement, unfinished of course, for my 4 year old to race her bike, trike, and pedal cars with any friends that come over during the winter months. It’s been helpful so far trying to teach her the basics. And of course this is only for the kids, I have not ever once participated in the shenanigans. πŸ˜‰

Troy is correct Jordan. I’m not completely positive but I believe my brother-in-law runs the VP98 in his leopard. But definately check with others on that.

And a trailer? What the heck is that for? Throw it in the back of the truck and spend that money on fuel and tires.

    Angie,

Just wanted to pop in and say thanks for the work you put in on the site, and elsewhere, for all the Colorado Karters.

Like Scott, I’d be interested in helping out if anybody (cough Jeff) is planning a go. I’d help with whatever, crewing, driving, or just as an umbrella boy. If it’s the latter I could provide pics of myself in my daisy dukes!

Thanks for the laugh Angel! You’re right though, he’s probably been helping family since October. 😯

I was about to buy some used wheels from him, and in fact had written the check when it occurred to me I had CRG bolt-pattern hubs on my Maranello. I checked with Richie to see what pattern his wheels were, and he did answer quickly indicating his wheels wouldn’t work on my hubs.

I just wanted to chime in because my own experience indicated he’s an honest guy, but when I read these other accounts it just sounds like his s#!t isn’t 100% together. Too bad…

Be glad you didn’t right the check. He seemed straight forward enough to me as well, but after almost 3 months without a chassis or explanation, I can only assume the worst.

I’m not here to bash anyone. I’m hoping that another member of the community may be able to convince Richie to make good on his promises. And I also posted this as a warning to others not to send checks to him, use a method such as paypal or your credit card where you may be able to recoup funds if the deal goes south. As you age, you’ll learn that part of being a man is making good on your commitments.

Absolutely Joe. I hadn’t actually heard anything about the guy, I just ASSumed (you know what happens with that) that he’d be reliable due to him being the RBI importer in the past and the fact that he seemed well respected in the community. If I had searched more here on his post history and prior promises I probably wouldn’t have sent him a check. In fact this is the first time I’ve ever paid with check in advance for an online purchase and I got bit.

I really just don’t understand this. We’re talking about less than $120 and few tubes. But it’s the whole principal of the deal that upsets me. I can’t comment about the different track situations, but with people like this around no wonder there’s a split in the Colorado racing community. It doesn’t seem that hard to me to be a man and live up to your commitments but apparently for some it’s pretty difficult.

I’ve been trying to contact Richie all week before posting this to give him one last chance to make things right. But as has been the case for this entire ordeal he won’t answer his phone or reply to voicemails, texts, or emails.

I’ve pretty much given up on the chassis, and I’ll get my money back eventually one way or the other. I’ve come to the conclusion that I’ll probably just weld up my chassis, clean it up and offer it to somebody just getting into the sport at a steal. I’m taking a break from racing this year due to having a new child on the way, but when next season comes around I’ll pick up a roller from the Nouds, Welchs, or Brad and put my ass in some class. As I know from my own experience that those guys are reliable.

A few of us have sent her gift cards, and Charles is standing by with a TV for the new room when the time comes. Gayle can always use some kind words, thoughts and of course prayers if ever anyone wants to drop something in the mail. I am sure Rich would love to have visitors as well. The more we stimulate his memory, hopefully, the better he gets. He has come a long way, but still has an incredible journey ahead.

Thanks to everyone who has helped this family. That goes from Coast-to-Coast, Track Owners, Shop Owners and of course our stronghold of local racers who really do care about each other.

    Merry Christmas,
    Curt

    Awesome, thanks Curt.

It’s a shame to hear that Angel. We’ll definately be keeping her in our thoughts. If you and your family need anything let us know.
