I’ve hesitated posting this here but I honestly feel I have no other choice at this point. Hopefully somebody else can convince Richie to do right by me as he certainly isn’t taking any of my attempts at contacting him seriously.

    I replied to this thread…

Need the room in my garage. Will sell the chassis (no parts) for $75 plus a little freight. Was used one time and stripped of parts. No bends, cracks etc etc. I do have some other parts that can go with it but will have to be bought as I sort thru 40 pallets of stuff. Good for TAG.

    Richie

I was very interested in this nude chassis as the RBI chassis that I picked up at the Bob Reed Benefit a couple of years back has seen better days. The waist is quite worn and I have developed a crack in one of the seat stays. The price was right and through email correspondance Richie assured me that all of my components would transfer over with no problems. I was stoked as I thought that I had found the perfect solution. Thinking, obviously wrongly now, that Richie was a standup businessman because of his prior involvement with RBI and his reputation in the community I thought nothing of his request to provide payment by check. After he calculated shipping I mailed him a check for $117.23, he recieved this check and it cleared my bank in late October.

His first claim was that he would ship it Monday October 26th and provide me with a tracking number. After sending a “reminder” email he claimed it would be shipped Monday November 2nd or the 3rd and provide the tracking number. The next correspondance was 2 weeks later, November 17th, where he claimed that “his guy” messed up the shipment and UPS had just located it and he would provide a tracking number as it left for me the next day. The next time he got around to returning my emails was November 25th where again he claimed that the chassis had been returned to him. He assured me that he’d get it out quickly and offered to hand deliver when he was back in Colorado the next week. That same afternoon I replied to his email stating that I would be perfectly fine with a hand delivery, explaining that I work 3rds and am available all day to meet him, even offered to share a few cold ones and pick his brain about setup information. As usual with this guy, I got no reply until December 10th after I sent him an email explaining that I was really getting upset about this and if he couldn’t get the kart shipped I’d like him to simply return my money. He assured me that he wasn’t trying to rip me off and that he had shipped it off again, and just like the previous 2 times he claimed he had shipped it he didn’t have a tracking number but would email it as soon as he did. And he even said he was even willing to return my money for the hassle, I replied stating that I really just wanted the chassis and it wasn’t necessary to send both. After not responding with a tracking number I emailed him saying I was sick of the run around. I let him know that if I didn’t recieve a refund or the chassis within a week I’d take my own action airing the situation out to the public. I gave him almost a month extra time after that and I still haven’t recieved a thing.

I find the whole thing ridiculous. I don’t think he even attempted shipping it once because after working with UPS and FedEx, I know that they’ll contact the person recieving the shipment if there is a problem and I never was contacted by them. He also never gave me a tracking number any of the 3 times he supposedly shipped the chassis.

Frankly, I’m not surprised his RBI vendorship went out of business if this is typical of the way he operates. Which I know it is because the wheels that he was supposed to provide for the benefit kart I bought also never arrived. Leaving the generous builder of said kart to provide me a set of his own personal wheels at his expense.

If anybody can convince this guy to do the right thing and either return my money or ship me the chassis, which I would prefer, that’d be great. Beyond that I’m just putting this out there so nobody elsed gets conned. Also, if anybody gets wind of him attending any Colorado races or being back in state I’d also appreciate a heads up so that I could try to slap him with a small claims summons. I also have all the email correspondance saved if for some reason I need them.

    Thanks for reading my vent.

Haha, after reading the preview I see that my quote is oddly pertinant to this situation.

    Doug,

You’re not alone in getting the runaround from him. Like you, I’d heard good things about what a great guy he is. And he may be if you’re working with him personally, but he doesn’t seem at all reliable about selling stuff. I first discovered this when I was trying to buy a kart stand from him a couple years ago. He promised he’d have one of his guys bring it over to Denver for me, but it never panned out. I hadn’t paid him, so all I was out was a good deal on a stand. Then I got a MyChron from him; as I recall, it took a couple reminders but eventually it arrived. Only problem was that it lacked the thermocouple that it was supposed to include. I reminded him 3 or 4 times–it was always “it’s buried somewhere” or “someone else was supposed to ship it.” I finally gave up and bought one on eBay. Not a huge deal, but like you, I think others should know that nice guy or not, you can’t rely on him. (Since then I’ve heard of another person with a similar story, but he shall remain nameless unless he wants to chime in.)

Absolutely Joe. I hadn’t actually heard anything about the guy, I just ASSumed (you know what happens with that) that he’d be reliable due to him being the RBI importer in the past and the fact that he seemed well respected in the community. If I had searched more here on his post history and prior promises I probably wouldn’t have sent him a check. In fact this is the first time I’ve ever paid with check in advance for an online purchase and I got bit.

I really just don’t understand this. We’re talking about less than $120 and few tubes. But it’s the whole principal of the deal that upsets me. I can’t comment about the different track situations, but with people like this around no wonder there’s a split in the Colorado racing community. It doesn’t seem that hard to me to be a man and live up to your commitments but apparently for some it’s pretty difficult.

I’ve been trying to contact Richie all week before posting this to give him one last chance to make things right. But as has been the case for this entire ordeal he won’t answer his phone or reply to voicemails, texts, or emails.

I’ve pretty much given up on the chassis, and I’ll get my money back eventually one way or the other. I’ve come to the conclusion that I’ll probably just weld up my chassis, clean it up and offer it to somebody just getting into the sport at a steal. I’m taking a break from racing this year due to having a new child on the way, but when next season comes around I’ll pick up a roller from the Nouds, Welchs, or Brad and put my ass in some class. As I know from my own experience that those guys are reliable.

HI Doug: I was watching the news this morning and they were talking about a family of Greeley Co, that are HAITI SURVIVORS , their name? BUXMAN that’s probably why he do not respond to you. :loony:

I was about to buy some used wheels from him, and in fact had written the check when it occurred to me I had CRG bolt-pattern hubs on my Maranello. I checked with Richie to see what pattern his wheels were, and he did answer quickly indicating his wheels wouldn’t work on my hubs.

I just wanted to chime in because my own experience indicated he’s an honest guy, but when I read these other accounts it just sounds like his s#!t isn’t 100% together. Too bad…

Thanks for the laugh Angel! You’re right though, he’s probably been helping family since October. 😯

Be glad you didn’t right the check. He seemed straight forward enough to me as well, but after almost 3 months without a chassis or explanation, I can only assume the worst.

I’m not here to bash anyone. I’m hoping that another member of the community may be able to convince Richie to make good on his promises. And I also posted this as a warning to others not to send checks to him, use a method such as paypal or your credit card where you may be able to recoup funds if the deal goes south. As you age, you’ll learn that part of being a man is making good on your commitments.

    Over a month later.

Multiple emails, multiple attempts calling and texting. Still no response/chassis/check from this guy.

Bump for any help contacting Buxman.

So this morning after my post I had a friend at work send him a facebook message as I don’t mess around with the myspaceytwit crap. Apparently that might have done the trick as I actually had a text message returned by him later.

Buxman claims that he’ll either mail a money order soon or “hand deliver” it next week, along with a bunch of empty threats. Should be interesting to see what happens, but I doubt nothing will as he’s claimed he would “hand deliver” the chassis in the past.

At least he’s no longer ignoring me.

So two weeks later and still no check or so called “hand delivery.” He is still at least in contact with me through text messages though and claims that it has been mailed out, I’ll believe it when I see it.

Last week I told Richie that if I didn’t have my refund check by Monday I’d contact the Mansfield PD. I got in contact with them and they informed me that since he hadn’t made an effort to hide his identity it could not be pursued as a criminal matter, and that I’d have to pursue it through the civil courts. I assured Richie that if I did not recieve my payment by Saturday I would be contacting the Mansfield courts on Monday to file a small claims court with the county JD courts. I’m more than willing to take a trip to Texas to resolve the matter. If any of the people who contacted me who are also having problems with him need me to I’d be happy to forward any information regarding the process to them or help them handle it as their proxy if the courts will allow.

I’m so sick of dealing with it and honestly couldn’t care much less about the money anymore, at this point it’s really just a matter of principle. I assured Richie that if and when I ever do recieve a payment the money would be donated to Rich Vito’s family. Being a man of my word, unlike some, I intend to follow through with that promise.

No payment in today’s mail as I figured.

I’m about to head out of town but when I return on Tuesday I’ll be contacting the Tarrant County Courts to pursue a civil case.
