Re. events, etc. I’d like to see a rookie rumble, (although that could easily deteriorate into something like the Keystone Cops Do Karting). 🙂
😀
As a fellow n00b I like the sound of that. Rookie Rumble day at IMI or TTAC would be some good fun. Of course it be good to have some experienced folks out there as well.
When I was doing SOLO w/ the SCCA they often had what the called “SOLO Schools” A day of instruction with a nice little SOLO competition between the rookies at the end. The way the experienced community is around here I’m sure we could convice some guys to participate. You know, showing us lines, tech tips, and whatnot in the morning, with a “Rookie Rumble” for the finale. I’m sure it be even easier if us n00bs would donate some greenbacks and “after karting refreshments.”
Just a thought.

ParticipantWill do Rick. It’ll probably be late evening when I call. I usually sleep a lot on Sudays as I work Sat. and Sun. nights.
I found some promising info in the trouble shooting guide.
Under “centrifugal clutch does not release at idle speed of engine” it lists two possibilities. “Fouling of clutch drum” and “clutch spring fractured.” For the remedies it lists “clean clutch drum,” and “replace all 3 clutch springs.” This makes me think that my initial prognosis was correct and that some dirt from my off fouled the drum which eventually, from me messing with it, broke the spring. Looks to be a straight forward repair at this time. We’ll see though, once I get into her and get Rick’s input.
Still wondering on the chain slack, I’m sure Rick will set me straight with that though.

Cool, I’ll let you know via PMs (both sites) wether or not I get my seat situation taken care of to be able to make it out tomorrow. I sure hope I do, as the weather is goin’ to be tits.
I’ll help you in the morning if the job is not complete. How much bigger will the new seat be?
New ones a Large, I think the old one was medium. Its almost done. I’m heading to the garage to finish it now, IMI wouldn’t have time to do it untill Tuesday. So I got some pointers from Bobby and got’er done. I’ll be there in the morning, bright and early.

ParticipantMe and my brother-in-law are going to try to be at IMI in the morning. Depends on wether or not I can get my errands taken care of today. If we’re there you got all the muscle you need. We’re kinda lacking in the smarts area though.
Jeff, its not “no decals.” We’re Subie folks, its “debadged.”

I must admit he had me fooled.
I think the whole story of how it finally went down is in order here.

Everytime I go into my pms I have to log back in. I click on my messages the have to log in a second time before I can actually get to my inbox. Anyone else have this problem?
I was having this problem last week when I first joined. Not only would it log me out then but also upon the site redirecting me to the Board Index. I thought it was an issue with the site but I could loggin fine @ work and using the MSN browser that I rarely use. I assume you are using IE, as I am. Once I deleted all my cookies and temporary internet files the problem stopped all together.

ParticipantI don’t know if there was ever any speedway karting here in Denver. But thankyou for posting the picture. It brought back some memories of my own.
I grew up in Wichita Ks, where my father raced karts on dirt ovals when I was a young kid. He raced at dirt speedways around Wichita and at least one karting specific dirt oval that I can remember. I can’t recall the kart specifics as I was very young. He was probably racing untill I was about 8 or 9, he put the kart down after a pretty bad crash at a speedway one night. I’ll have to contact my step-mother to see if she can recall the class or kart package as he passed several long years ago.
I’m new to karting, haven’t even picked up the kart I bought at the benifit yet, but his memory and the good times he/we had were one of the things that helped to finalize my decision to get into the sport. I can remember getting chucked into his lap by my step mom at 4 or 5 for a celebration lap after a victory, one of my fondest memories about him.
Funny thing about your picture is that my dad also ran the number 16. It was his favorite number.
Anyways, sorry about the book, but thanks for bringing back memories.

In regards to your avatar, I may need to take you up on that request. Not so much on the wrenching just yet, but a good rundown of things the first time I get her out to IMI, you know?
DEAL! 8) I can help you get started with the checklist on Thursday!
I’ll be giving you a call.

Doug that was the fastest ‘auction’ I’ve ever seen. I had no more walked in the door and picked up a plate when I heard that the kart had sold. Congrats on winning the kart and welcome to karting.
I know, right?
I just couldn’t pass up the deal. After talking with Doug from Shockwave a bit, and getting other people’s opinions on it I had to jump on it. I thought about simply bidding but I knew I wasn’t gonna be able to stay for the whole day, I had to get some sleep for work that night. Plus being for a good cause and all I figured it best to just jump on it. Once I verified payment arrangements w/ Rick it had to be done.
Its funny I was talking to a couple of people and Dave (the owner of IMI, was that his name?) was there as well. One of the guys said, “Doug, now that you’ve got a crack pipe, this is the man that has the crack.” when he introduced me to him. I just about fell over laughing, even though I know its true. 😀

You guys rock, let me tell you this was one hell-uv-an introduction to the karting community. The turnout and take-in was absolutely stunning. I can’t wait to get out to some races to meet and speak to the rest of you.
Thanks again to all of organizers. Especially Rick for putting together my new to me kart, I can’t wait to get her on the track.
