Doug,
Don’t feel weird about coming to the benefit for Bob. Sooner or later you’ll meet these people and getting introduced in a light atmosphere maybe easier than the thrash that can be going on at the track.
There are a lot of good packages out there. The Rbi / Rotax kart being offered for the benefit could be the buy of the year. Someone is going to walk away with a good unit. It has front brakes and shifter handle making it shifter ready in short order. It also has enough extra brake pads to get you through the season. It was Marc Elliott’s Pro Shifter chassis, the last time it ran was to a victory in Grand Junction.
If you are interested in the auction kart, you’re not alone. I have had several inquiries about this unit.
I’m sure Shockwave could update Charles kart to front brake / shifter capable as well.
Come out and mingle, we don’t bite.
Rick
I think I will, although I’ll have to skate out early to get some sleep to be able to work tomorrow night.
If for some reason I won the auction on the benefit kart how would payment be handled? I ask because to make my kart purchase I need to contact Chase and have them wire the money to my checking account, which takes 3-5 business days. Powered by VISA, you know?

Cool, I am still looking for a kart.
I’m actually getting a bit overwhelmed right now with options.
Are you going to be at the benefit tomorrow (whoops, today)? If so I’ll try to find you and talk a bit.
I think for right now I’m going to see if I can win the benefit kart. Not only might it be a really good deal but you can’t beat the fact that all the money will be going to somebody who really needs it.

Great to hear you found a kart. Rick is a great guy; listen to what he has to say!

Absolutely, at this point I’m trying to be a sponge.
In regards to your avatar, I may need to take you up on that request. Not so much on the wrenching just yet, but a good rundown of things the first time I get her out to IMI, you know?

ParticipantDoug that was the fastest ‘auction’ I’ve ever seen. I had no more walked in the door and picked up a plate when I heard that the kart had sold. Congrats on winning the kart and welcome to karting.

I know, right?
I just couldn’t pass up the deal. After talking with Doug from Shockwave a bit, and getting other people’s opinions on it I had to jump on it. I thought about simply bidding but I knew I wasn’t gonna be able to stay for the whole day, I had to get some sleep for work that night. Plus being for a good cause and all I figured it best to just jump on it. Once I verified payment arrangements w/ Rick it had to be done.
Its funny I was talking to a couple of people and Dave (the owner of IMI, was that his name?) was there as well. One of the guys said, “Doug, now that you’ve got a crack pipe, this is the man that has the crack.” when he introduced me to him. I just about fell over laughing, even though I know its true. 😀
