ParticipantWhat absolute gutwrenching news. Our hearts go out to the Duncan, Cook, and Jacobellis families and all those who knew and loved Taybor.

ParticipantTerry, Brian, and Eddy have it right. My little ones aren’t quite old enough for “racing dreams” yet, so I have to do it for them. It is my dream that one of my little girls make it to the true “big show” of Formula One. Although, the documentary does sound cool and I’ll have to check it out.

ParticipantI’m gonna try to make it out either Sat or Sun. But with the new baby in the home and a ton of garbage on my “honey do” list, I’m not sure if it’ll happen. Regardless, best of luck to you Jeff, and the International Brokers team. I’m pulling for the both of you.

ParticipantA snell rating is good for 10 yrs in almost all forms of motorsport. A snell2000 rating is good through this year, a snell2005 rating is good through 2015, and a snell2010 rating is good through 2020. Most tracks will accept an M rated helmet, although I would recomend a K rating or SA rating. The SA has the fireproof lining which is required if you ever move up to tin tops, the K rating has the same shell, just no fireproof lining.
As usual, the better the helmet the safer your noggin. And to borrow the old line, if you have a $5 head, buy a $5 helmet.

It is cool to see people with determined dreams to shape. Thanks for the link Tiny. I hope your racing this weekend Doug. HPR probably just doesn’t know what they want yet other than some large income to help it.
I was floored when I read some of the outlandish negative post some people made in the comment section of the link. Not racing this year due to a new baby coming in a couple of weeks. Gotta get the funds straight. Plus my oldest turns 5 in Oct so I gotta get a kid kart together for her too.
On the HPR front. They seemed to be quite receptive, however I couldn’t get any feedback from any roadrace karting organization to help with twisting their arm. I tried WKA and a few other individuals with no help. Perhaps if I have the time I’ll try to get the SKUSA MR folks involved, we’ll see.
You can see what was up with the effort on HPR here…

ParticipantLike Jon said, they’ve been talking about this for years, so I’ll believe it if/when I see it. As far as karts go, my efforts to get karts allowed at HPR left me seriously doubtful that we would be included in any motorsports startup aimed at tin tops. It’d be nice, but I wouldn’t hold my breath. Best to just enjoy the kart specific venues we have now.

ParticipantDamn, that almost looks too clean for Lemons. You could sort that one into a decent SCCA club racer Eduardo.

ParticipantWe stayed there one year for the Hill Climb. Awesome Hotel and the restaurants are pretty good too.

Doug,
Gaby is a six year old, so she made it over the minimum required.
Rats!
I was hoping you’d say she was as short as mine and they let her loose. Ohh well, we’ll give a shot soon. I just didn’t want to get her hopes up and then have them deny her.
Thanks for the info!

ParticipantEduardo, how tall is your little one?
We wanted to take our daughter who is 4 and only 42″ but were somewhat worried about their requirement of 48″. I’ve been told that it’s a “subjective” measurement and she may or may not be able to give it whirl.
I just figured it’d be fun for her and a good learning tool since she won’t hit 5 until late October and as we all know the weather around then can be hit or miss.

ParticipantNo payment in today’s mail as I figured.
I’m about to head out of town but when I return on Tuesday I’ll be contacting the Tarrant County Courts to pursue a civil case.

ParticipantSo two weeks later and still no check or so called “hand delivery.” He is still at least in contact with me through text messages though and claims that it has been mailed out, I’ll believe it when I see it.
Last week I told Richie that if I didn’t have my refund check by Monday I’d contact the Mansfield PD. I got in contact with them and they informed me that since he hadn’t made an effort to hide his identity it could not be pursued as a criminal matter, and that I’d have to pursue it through the civil courts. I assured Richie that if I did not recieve my payment by Saturday I would be contacting the Mansfield courts on Monday to file a small claims court with the county JD courts. I’m more than willing to take a trip to Texas to resolve the matter. If any of the people who contacted me who are also having problems with him need me to I’d be happy to forward any information regarding the process to them or help them handle it as their proxy if the courts will allow.
I’m so sick of dealing with it and honestly couldn’t care much less about the money anymore, at this point it’s really just a matter of principle. I assured Richie that if and when I ever do recieve a payment the money would be donated to Rich Vito’s family. Being a man of my word, unlike some, I intend to follow through with that promise.

ParticipantWhat can I say other than to echo everybody elses thoughts. Rich was a good man who definately kept everybody here on their toes. Unfortunately I was not able to meet him in person until that horrible day. Our thoughts are with you and your family Gayle.
RIP Rich.
