ParticipantMarc, we are running 80 junior this year, not novice.
We are not sure if we will run the SKUSA race in GJ as of today. I am going to assume that we will need to get a tire voucher, entry fee and treat fuel as if we are in the pro classes.
I hope to get an ear full of info this weekend and make a decision based on how Matty looks at the CSC race.
Last year we were in the low 55’s until all hell broke out and we lost our front end to a head on crash.
I need to figure out how to mount the railroad tie to the front bumper now. :idea Talk to you later.

ParticipantDitto question for me, however, the 80’s furnish their own tires?

ParticipantMike,
Talk slower, he’s a Ford guy. :idn:Curt Kistler
ParticipantThere was some pretty good articles on sponsors at http://www.ekartingnews.com a few months ago. I found this one about page 50 in the general discussion section.
Sponsors in karting are hard to find so hang onto what you can. Return the favor to them whenever possible, and remember you represent what they are about.
Good luck.Posted: Tue Jul 22, 2003 9:57 am Post subject:
Mark, I run in the Road Race division, and have had the same sponsors for over 5 years, with the exception of 2 companies that I added later. I run in Super Stock and Yamaha Sit Up with a full bodywork Emmick Chassis.1.I was wondering how many people might have sponsors?
*I Do Thank Goodness! They really help me with my racing program.
2.Who is sponsoring you?
* My sponsor list includes:Pico Pica Hot Sauce, Harpur’s Marine, RLV, Burris, O&H, Hegar 4, Stewart Racing Products, Emmick, K&P Mfg/ Bridgestone, Madco Mfg, Azusa Engineering, Heroux Enterprises, BCR, Juanita’s Foods, Kustom Kart Kovers, Kickglass Custom Fiberglass, Woltjer Racing Engines, Toms Die Cutting, Douglas Wheel, Madco, Kart-O- Rama, Ribtect and Standard Lithograph
3.Is it per race or per season?
* Each season I plan which races I will be attending and have the sponsor send the check directly to the host club or company… then I use the money as I need it. I do not have funds come directly to me. So for me, it is a little of both, per race and per season.
4.Are you getting cash if so how much?
* I receive some monetary support, those funds are distributed to where they will be used.
5.Are you getting equipment?
* Quite a few of my sponsors are product sponsors. I am not greedy, so I think that helps quite a bit. Also, I made sure I promote their products every chance I get. Our team looks for the best equipment for our team and type of racing, and those are the sponsors we have.
6.Where is a good place to look for a sponsor small business or corporations?
*I say look where ever you can. Just be sure you are able to tell them what YOU can do for THEM. And don’t just take their support and run, have a relationship with your sponsors, include them in your efforts and THANK THEM.
Hope to see you at the track

ParticipantGraeme,
You can if you have a sound tech at the control board. That’s what was happening at Bandi.April 19, 2004 at 10:22 pm in reply to: Enough about the picture guy, how about those sound guys? #46838Curt Kistler
ParticipantJoe is hitting the nail right on the head. It is my understanding that Stacey has a FM system and it works pretty well. He also has a track announcer. Brad is getting the system and has had many discussions with Drew. JB has spoken with the sound dudes about future events at Bandi.
I feel we are heading in the right direction as far as the production of our races go. We just need to keep the discussion going forward and see what systems work best for us at a reasonable cost.
So far, the FM/BoomBox sounds like the way to go. I am sure after GJ we may have good or bad results. Lets wait and see. I will have my speakers letting our camp know whats happening. I am just going to miss the music during the dead air times. 😥Curt

ParticipantThis will become even a larger problem at Bandi when the drags start. Just the noise from the generators, kart motors and everything else going on make it very difficult to hear announcments. (Which may cost you a practice session or even qualifing session)
Dave has purchased an FM broadcast module much like what Stacy has, and Brad is about to use. My suggestion is to purchase a Home Depot construction grade boom box that runs on it’s own batteries, tune it into whatever band they will be broadcasting, crank it up and enjoy the show from wherever your pit ends up.
This technology is OK for what we are doing, however, it sometimes gets a little out of whack when other outside stuff interrupts the signal. IE: Bandis FM signal for their own sound system, the airport at GJMS, and the UFO’s at IMI.
It is getting better and someday we will roll out the big stuff for a real show, perhaps Steamboat. :cheers:Curt Kistler
ParticipantI agree with Jim. The key chain guy sucks. His original work was OK, then he just tanked last year. Never again for us.
Contact GOTCHA if you want some great photos, his contact info is on this site. Maybe the Moto-X people will surface for another ract this year also. They did a great job at Bandi last year. Very professional.Curt Kistler
ParticipantMike,
He works at Jeppesen. Their main number is 303-799-9090.Curt Kistler
ParticipantOne suggestion would be to run the Jr 2’s and the 60 shifters together. Their times were similar and a rolling start for the 60’s would speed things up, and save the ankels of the poor dad’s out there push starting half the pack.
We ran that way most of the time and things worked out fine. The two groups would need to be seperated by 50 yards with the shifters in front.Curt Kistler
ParticipantGreat job Angie! Looks like more work than the actual race or tuning to me. Sorry to hear all the shots being fired over the bow’s of the Junior teams. :argue
I like the new posting format you are using also. Some said the racing was very close. Did you happen to see the difference in the 8o Jr Final? Next time at GJ I will need to bring an extra cigar to get thru that again. Our boys raced very well and we felt bad for Garrett after the final. He now is sporting some Bandi ribs and looked to be in much pain in the scale line. Hope your OK bud. Hope Reese is OK also. I heard he was injured in the rib cage during practice and called it a day.
If we are running Bandi clockwise due to turn #1 being rough, then my suggestion is to turn it around just to prevent what could have been a very nasty early exit crash.
One more note, please do not put all shifters on that track at the same time again. We got pretty banged up by a 125 dude and he looked like he got the worst of it, however, Matty was very lucky to come home with his head and neck uninjured after that wreck.
All in all, great day! See you in GJ or possibly Easter Sunday if Mother Nature allows it. Weather for Sunday looks bleak at best.

ParticipantChaz,
Did you get the 60’s and 80’s crossed? No big deal, just wondering.
ThanksCurt Kistler
ParticipantStay away from the guy, or girl, next to you! :argue

ParticipantJust thought I would remind everyone of what you were saying about rooms.
Bump brings it back to the top. I’m not referring to that thing on your forehead. :bang
I called today and they are offering double rooms for $65. Their web page wants $109, so I guess it does pay to call and reference GJMS.
Thanks Stacey for the help, every dollar helps!
