We ran two classes, open and middle weight. There are more classes but there were not enough of them to add more. We have averaged about 15 bikes per race.

    Tom

The accident was over four years ago, on a race day and was caused by a father moving a barrier and sending his son on the track the wrong way. This lawsuit has been settled and is over. I will not be shut down and I don’t know where this rumor has started. I can be sued by someone falling in the parking lot just as easy as a accident on the track, its the American way of doing things when someone gets a lawyer involved.

As far as the CSC races we will have a tech person, race director, spec fuel, spec tires, complete written rules, etc… This will happen with or without any sanctioning. All of the races were run with insurance last year and will be this year, with or without sanctioning. Sanctioning has nothing to do with them taking responsibilty for an accident, that is what insurance companies do.

I too would like to know what SKUSA has to offer. CSC will still have to provide the rules for the classes that are not offered by them, the race director, tech director, track help, tracks, points keeping, the tech tools, spec fuel, year end awards, insurance, etc… I also would like to know what you mean when you say we would be going against them if we don’t do this. Does that mean Jim is going to put a schedule of SKUSA races against the CSC if we do not join up with them? SKUSA needs us more than we need them, that is a fact. Are we going to charge everyone a membership fee for CSC and have to make everyone join SKUSA also? It is time to mail a questionair out to the racers as only a small % of racers respond to this forum before we go back to SKUSA.

I did not take one engine apart to the crank last year, what are you talking about Doug? The only engines that were taken down were the Comers at Staceys I think, I was not there. The only items checked were carbs, reeds, exhaust restrictors, ignitions on 2 strokes. I agree that the fuel should be spec and the tires checked for durometer but what does that have to do with a national sanctioning organization. There was not a port check tool, burret, durometer meter or anything to check engines at the SKUSA race in Vegas. They did have a fuel tester, magnifying glass and a flashlight!

I have talked with Joe about this subject not long ago but he now has chosen to ignore my phone calls. Joe even told me he was coming to Denver in two weeks to discuss the SKUSA situation on his way back from a similar meeting in Texas when I was in Vegas, he has not contacted me since. Joe made it perfectly clear that all racers would have to pay the fees. As you know many regions are attempting to put together a series similar to ours with the cooperation of the area tracks. This is why SKUSA is scrambling to salvage what is left of what was a decent regional program that was ignored when all of their effort was put into the promoto tour. They soon realized that the regional programs were the backbone of SKUSA and now they are mostly gone and this is a last ditch attempt to regain what was lost. Joe has talked with Sam and with Biran about what he wants to do in this region from what I have heard but Sam and Biran are not the only people he should be talking to. Time is running out for him to make a real proposal, as we will be wrapping up the CSC situation by the end of January. The track owners have had a number of meetings so far and we are well into the process of defining the classes and rules for next year. As always we welcome suggestions from the racers and do listen to what is stated on this forum. It is impossible to make everyone happy but we will do our best for the majority of racers in the CSC series in Colorado.

All of the racers must pay the fee’s not just the racers who’s classes are run by SKUSA rules. We would still have to have rules for the other classes.

SKUSA does not have rules for over half of our classes. All of the racers would have to pay the fees, not just the ones who want to race nationals. You would be better off with IKF or WKA than SKUSA if you are looking for a rule book to go by, at least they run more of our classes. How does it cost less to run Stars than CSC?

Running SKUSA rules would require everyone to be a member of SKUSA, $75 EACH and we would have to pay them $6 PER HEAD for every racer at every race. Thats about $13125 for memberships of 175 racers which is about what we had last year and $5880 for an average of 140 racers at each of the 7 races last year, $19005 total if the numbers stay the same. What do you get? A set of rules that covers less than half of our classes. You get to use the SKUSA name and LOGO and about 10 colorado guys get to run the national events. :rotate:

It is all the normal politics of karting that has been around since I was a kid, nothing has changed, only the people involved with making the rules. One thing they did not know was that the Biland is the only engine that goes faster with more weight. You see there is so much tire spin with the new engine that the weight will actually help your lap times. We had to run 40 lbs over weight on that slick track in Vegas just to be competitive.

1.5-1.6 depends on how your engine is set up

I think that the Minimax, Puma and World formula could run together in the cadet Tag class from the information I have read.

We had a meeting last night and the proposed class structure will be listed maybe today. The rest is a secret of course and I can’t tell you.
