ParticipantYea, the Rubig drivers let off too soon and could have really smoked the rotary if they could drive. Doesn’t matter how much power you have, you still need to hold a line, keep it pinned as long as possible and use your brakes at the right time to be fast.

ParticipantThe reason there are so many classes is because they added the Rotax classes, DA? When did they ever say they were going to dump TAGS for Rotax?

ParticipantThe most successful racing series in Colo karting history was the CSC. Over 150 racers at every event. It was a fun and rewarding time for kart racing in Colo and we were not concerned with any BS about national vs regional vs club. Winning the season championship actually meant something back then. We ran all of the classes that the club races ran. 80% of the karters ran both club and the CSC races. There were close to 200 karters active at that time. It is easy to calculate the possible turn out by looking at last years results for all of the Colorado events. Limit the classes and you will limit the turn out to no more than 60 at best. This way of thinking has not worked locally for SKUSA or TTAC, just look at their results. Just keep going down the same path and you will get the same results. Why does everyone think they have to make karting into something it will never be. It is not NASCAR, F1 or any other fan based racing organization. WE DO THIS FOR FUN, NOT FAME, NOT FOR MONEY, NOT FOR THE SPECTATORS. These were the classes we ran, the demographics have changed now so the classes would have to be modified to what we have racing now. This was how it was not to long ago in 2007 when we were all on the same page:

ParticipantThere can only be one state series if you want any turn out. I really can’t believe the talk about street or parking lot races, they are too much work, too much cost and trash your kart. It’s not like there are not plenty of real kart tracks in the state you should be supporting. You want to run your kart in a parking lot or on the street get a Shriner kart and do parades! Unser racings parking lot would be joke of a track with no room to do a decent course, if they want to have real kart racing then build a real kart track! Get off these stupid ideas people! Support one state series on the tracks we have and one promoter be it SKUSA or who ever.

ParticipantI have almost enough dirt, only missing the karters!
Remember the other rich snob racing country clubs that were never built? Genova, Ring of the Rockies, and one more that I forgot the name.

ParticipantYea, sure you won’t need a membership but you would pay $200 to use the kart track but before any of this happens they will need to sell 200 memberships for $25000 and they will each have to pay $3500 per year dues. Fat chance selling that one!

ParticipantJust want to let everyone know that SKUSA moved the race from IMI last year all on their own sending me an email about it, nice personal touch. Glad they did as having a race on Labor Day weekend (not my recommendation) would have cost me a bundle in rentals and they did not want to pay much for track rental. Judging from the turn out they had the gang from Miller must not have showed like they thought and it sure would of been wiser to pick a better weekend.
SKUSA has not been in contact with me since then so they must not be interested in having a race at IMI so don’t think they were turned down and the front range tracks won’t have a SKUSA race.
Concerning a state series I would be fine with a group of racers organizing it and would support it for sure. There are plenty of kart tracks available in this state so who even cares about having a race at Centennial.
I don’t see why it can’t happen in 2013!

ParticipantChris,
There is nothing to let go of, it is just the reality of the situation. “We” did not screw up anything collectively. I really do care about the sport and am just as frustrated as everyone else. It just pisses me off. It is not a matter of sitting in the same room and working it out. Did you forget why we all met in your office? It was not to convince Stacey and myself to keep our racing group together. Don’t blame us for this, we were not then or now the problem. He doesn’t give a s— what any of the racers want or what Stacey and I want it’s is all about him and he told us all very clearly that night including telling me personally he had no desire to share any adulation or praise with Stacey and I as if we were looking for any to begin with. When he pulled out that velvet bag with that little glass award I new we were not dealing with a normal rational thinking person. Good luck trying to get through to him. The only way that is going to happen is if everyone just quit supporting him by not going to any of his events and then maybe he would get the message. It going to be up to the racers to do it, there is nothing Stacey and I can do change this situation so it is just beating a dead horse.

ParticipantYou all seem to forget who pushed the destruct button to begin with and all of the lemmings jumped off the cliff with him. Now there are very few left in karting from that time when we had when things going great. How has that work out for you all?

ParticipantI have always supported an entry level engine package with low cost to grow the sport. I think the Briggs packages can do that and be a stepping stone to the other classes.
