There can only be one state series if you want any turn out. I really can’t believe the talk about street or parking lot races, they are too much work, too much cost and trash your kart. It’s not like there are not plenty of real kart tracks in the state you should be supporting. You want to run your kart in a parking lot or on the street get a Shriner kart and do parades! Unser racings parking lot would be joke of a track with no room to do a decent course, if they want to have real kart racing then build a real kart track! Get off these stupid ideas people! Support one state series on the tracks we have and one promoter be it SKUSA or who ever.
Blink is snapping out of his coma and starting to make sense again. Now go grind that jump bump on the hill you been promissing to do for the past 3 years.

ParticipantThat is what we love or hate about Brad you always know were you stand which I like by the way. Like Chris said just needs to be said in a more diplomatic way 😀
I think the CJKC is a critical part, we want and need those kids and their families and they need us in my opinion. Kids classes are our future and that is were we get all our future Tag and Shifter drivers. They need us so when the kids have outgrown their classes they have somewhere to go and don’t just have to leave their family of friends they have made at the races and start over with another group. Most will probably give up and move on to something else. Besides as a kid racing motocross when I wasn’t on the track all I wanted to do was watch the Pro’s hoping someday I would be at their level.

Wow Brad, I’m surprised you have this kind of attitude towards I believe the only shop owner who came and supported races at your track this year. If it doesn’t make more sense for the racers and shops than racing at Centennial, then I’ll continue to take my drivers to Centennial, and out of state.

I am glad I didn’t post about my brilliant idea of having a combo asphalt/dirt temp track at my facility…………………………. Of course being called stupid is nothing new to me. I called myself a dumb ass twice today already.

2013 can be a great year for karting in Colorado!December 20, 2012 at 6:59 pm #66113stacey cook
ParticipantThanks Doc! yes it can be, Greg, Brad we all need to just keep our eye on the ball as they say and focus on what is best for karting. We all have offended each other at one time or another don’t take it personal let’s put that aside and realize this is good for all of us also CRG USA, SODI, Unser, IMI GJMS etc.
Now let’s get it done.

Hear, here.
The same passions that have us saying heated things sometimes are the same, exact passions that built karting here to begin with — as with all good things.
The Big Picture outweighs all else. Keep going forward. :rotate:
Accolades to Scott for this thread, and for his presentation.

So tell me how a race in the middle of Denver, that showcases the “pro” drivers talents while still allowing rental drivers to get a taste of it is not a great thing for karting? On site facilities include a full service restaurant and bar, and 360 degree viewing from the rooftop. We can market the event to our 40,000 person + database of people who we already know are interested in karting because they have been in to race in the past year. Can anyone tell me how an event such as that which showcases karting in the middle of town, 5 minutes from everything, is worse than running on a track in the middle of nowhere?
If we keep thinking along the same lines that we have been the past 15 years, guess where we will be 15 years from now? Arguing about the same topic. Mix it up, and do something which can help us grow the pot, rather than fight over the same 50 guys we have been fighting over for the past 10 years.

ParticipantGreg, is the lot at Unser big enough for a track and trailer parking? I like the idea, and you make some good points about the location, facility, and your customer base. Lot just seems small…maybe Westwood College across the street would want to borrow their lot for a weekend?
Anyways, state series? Count me in.

ParticipantYes there is, because we also own a back lot that goes all the way to Broadway. The track would go through the center garage bays of the building, cutting the lot in two halves, one for track and one for trailers. Pits would be a trailer only pit and be tight (anyone remember Steamboat) and we would need to utilize one of the across the street lots for parking.

ParticipantAdd my name to the list. I miss the days of 100 plus kart count events when I joined this sport. I can’t make 2013 but should be back in Colorado by 2014.

This is a good question. We developed the CJKC because there was a void in this state that needed some attention. Teaching these families the fundamentals of karting, developing skills on and off the track ect. I think we have done a pretty good job of these things for the most part. But to answer the question I would say yes to both of you. There are a few kids that have outgrown the club and there are a lot of kids that need more development before moving into something at a higher level. So is there a place for the CJKC kids, some yes. I would think if there isn’t any schedule conflicts I would definitely promote ( to the ones that need more) a statewide series rather than sending them out of state. We already are a Regional series that run all the tracks in mention so the transition wouldn’t be a big deal, just a longer day with a few different kids around them and watching the big kids(me included) having fun.

Did my small part. Just yesterday applied for my 2013 SKUSA membership online, if the state series is going that way, :green I’ll be ready. Should be able to make all but the Miller race as long as there are no schedule conficts with the Colorado Kart Racing for Heroes events, which I have already commited to for 2013.
Respectfully,
Eddy
