When I first saw the SKUSA Regional schedule I was a bit upset.

It is disappointing The Mountain Region will not have an event at one of the local Denver area tracks. I am way past being frustrated and almost can find some humor in what we (Colorado) have put up with the past 4 years. At a minimum it would make for a really good reality show.

I know Stan worked very hard on putting a SKUSA regional race on the Front Range. I applaud his efforts and thank him for trying. We will support what SKUSA is doing and make it work. As it stands now-This will require almost 3000 miles of travel for us next year and that does not include the windshield time for the Pro Tour.

I believe that having local, state and regional race organizations based on National Class Structure and Rules (like SKUSA and Rotax)is the way to go. You can add open classes as entries justify.

On the national and regional level (outside of Colorado) you will see Rotax and SKUSA working together next year. Locally maybe when hell freezes over, your card stops getting punched or are not allowed entry into a national race. The Nationals finally understand working together collectively is best for the sport and the bottom line. They are as frustrated as most us with the lack of cooperation on the Front Range of Colorado. The days of divide and conquer are over.

SKUSA is here for the long haul, Rotax is here for the long haul- neither one is going away. We like to bang gears, you like to play Tag. SKUSA has opened up to letting you play tag on a Rotax and get punched for your efforts. SKUSA allows you to use other TaG motors as well if you don’t run a Rotax. Why is this bad thing for the sport? Why can’t we do it around Denver one weekend a year?

Jim or Brad or both-Step UP . Not for SKUSA or Rotax but us- the racers and parents who spend time and money at your tracks. If we can bring this divided house back together I believe we can get 100 racers (plus) to once again come out and play. We did it with you before, have not (YOU and US)done it since, and (YOU AND US TOGETHER) can do it again.

:usa: I agree with everyone that a state event would be great. I have two events in progress. Grand Junction
and SBR (date to be set) for the RACING FOR HEROES events. It would be easy to set this up as a series. I am
currently working on a third event in Denver. The reason for holding on the SBR date at this time. When and if cows fly you will be quite happy with the outcome.

Unfortunately, this topic feels a bit like this sometimes…

It sucks. I wish we could all play nice. What blows my mind is that I bet you’d be hard pressed to find a single racer here that wouldn’t be in favor of a state series. And yet, here we are. Talking about this…again. I just don’t see how having potentially 1/4 of the racing population at your races (instead of all of it) is a good thing. Totally agree with everything Cris said.

Been there, done that, about 10 years ago. What is the definition of insanity again?

Well…..I’ve been down this road before. I guess this is where the term “hope and change” originated I think it should read more like “hope for change”. Anyway my family and I have been involved in karting in Colorado for over 10 years, both of my kids have grown up at the kart track and it just makes me sick to see what has happened. There are a lot of great people that are very passionate about karting that live in Colorado and there efforts appear to be going to waste because people don’t seem to care about the racers.

Karting in Colorado isn’t and never will be an empire! Please pull you head out before it’s too late.

Mike I will hope for change but not get my hopes up. I hoped for change Nov 6 and was clinically depressed for most of a week.

Given the State of affairs locally we will be shipping our gear out west and be spending one or two weekends a month on the left coast racing PKC and LAKC in Central and So Cal. It stinks when something like that is the easiest thing to do but we are waving the white flag on the local racing.

Wow, that says it all, doesn’t it! Track owners, those are your dollars going to a track in California. Seriously. :bang

You all seem to forget who pushed the destruct button to begin with and all of the lemmings jumped off the cliff with him. Now there are very few left in karting from that time when we had when things going great. How has that work out for you all?

Good point Brad, however, what happen to the plan to run an all inclusive state series at IMI, GJMS and then PPIR, now SBR???? Everyone we talked with said they would support, however, when it came time to setting a schedule, we PPKRC were safety wired on IGNORE….received NO response????

No worries, in Colorado, SKUSA’s out except for those who have the resouces to do the road program. Appears many Rotaxians will be at The Track again and we will continue to work on building a program that seeks the all inclusive family karting crowd at SBR…. Conditions Normal in 2013. Hopefully, we’ll get to play at one of the IMI and/or GJMS events with Craig’s Kart Racing for Heroes.

The power base is in the hands of the track owners and operators, nothing will change until the kart racers make that happen. That’s why we (PPKRC) are limited to running a series at SBR. Which is not a bad thing. Thanks to Lee we have a home track now and those who have been down seem to like what we’re doing. Like many who keep bringing this subject up every year since the track owner fallout, we still believe we can mend bridges and get back to a great series like the old CSC, running at every track in the state.

Speaking for myself, like you, I would love to see us doing what we did in 2007/2008. All of us coming together, helping each other out, having fun running together at all the Colorado Tracks. But then again I’m a hopeless optimist, one of my personallity flaws.

    Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas,

Well once again as we the karters begin to express our interest in a state series a local track owner wants to play the blame game. Before anyone begins to say I’m just a mouthpiece for someone let me expalin. I have made my choices on what type of kart my son drives on the experience and fun we want to enjoy in karting not to favor a particular track here in the state. We chose the Rotax program as it gave us the opportunity to race at many places not only here but Arizona, Utah, and California with out having to constantly change our kart to meet the rules out of state. Last year we made a couple trips here in state and again had the opportunity to race with the CJKC which is where my son started racing and where we still have friends. Even though they have the Briggs program they allowed my son and a few others to race with them using our Rotax motors. The kids all had fun which I think is why most of us enjoy this sport. The kids didn’t care what motors they were running. They didn’t care about all this divisive BS going on here in karting. They just wanted to be out there on the track racing there friends having fun. Maybe we all should take a step back and learn from these kids. The adults karters in this state seem to have all taken sides in this dispute. They seem to all have opinions and seem to think there opinions are the only right ones. Its time for people to begin putting aside differences to open there minds to new ideas and to play nice. The promoters and clubs that do this will probably be rewared by larger kart turnouts which is what we all want. I want to end this by thanking SKUSA and Stan for at least attempting to give everyone more oppurtunities to race in a regional series by opening up more classes to not only the traditional SKUSA classes but to include the Rotax classes. Now lets see if the Rotax karters in this region respond. Thanks also to the CJKC for allowing my son and a few others tho race with your kids last year we had a blast would love the local IKF to also include Rotax as they do in other regions we could help increase your kid entried with your club. But even if there is not a state series lets not forget that some local tracks like SBR and Grand Junction will let everyone race support these tracks. Like i said take a look at the kids who enjoy this sport for the pure fun and enjoyment they have let’s all try to play nice.

    Brad
    and Stacey and Jim-

I have not, nor have most who post here forgotten the “who and why” of how we got here.
    LET IT GO!!!

If you really care about our sport you need to get together and figure it out. If you cannot legally or morally sit in the same room together please get/send someone you trust to be a representative for you. If you do not get it resolved we will continue to have races with low kart count. Stop blaming each other, racers and Lemmings. It is you (all) who collectively screwed up a pretty good thing and it is time to fix it for “the sport” you claim to care about.

    Until then
