    Rich,

I didn’t take many notes, as several parts of Scott’s presentation were on things that he had already walked me through on the phone. He had his laptop hooked up to a projector, so once the lights were dimmed, we were all following along, duplicating what he did on our own computers. Everybody brought their laptops, and were fighting over outlets! I certainly did learn some new things, though. I would be more than happy to help you out, if I can. Maybe some of your questions are the same ones I had! Otherwise, just call Scott. He will take good care of you.

Did you have a nice trip to Florida? Are you all refreshed and ready to race?

    Curt,
Don’t get too frustrated. You must have known that something like this would happen when you bring up $$!

We can’t “just vote”, because as someone has pointed out, we don’t have all of the information. We don’t know what the entry fees are for this year yet, for each track. There has already been a discussion and decision to add a race director, and possibly a flag man, and we don’t know what the added cost, if any, will be for that.
I, for one, think that a nice sound system would really add a lot to the CSC events – for all of the reasons that you have mentioned. Unfortunately, it does come down to money. It would be nice to know what the extra 5 or 10 dollars is going to make the bottom line entry at each event.

Your question asks if we need a flat rate entry to cover all of these things – yes, a flat rate entry would be nice, as long as it isn’t too much!

    Ben,
Guess it is like washing your car, just to have it rain! So I guess we can all thank you for getting your new kart, to bring in the snow!!

We also hope to get out to the track this up coming weekend. Lots of work and practicing to do before the season starts.

How many days is it to the first race? I bet you know the hours!

After discussions with all of the track owners, Doug, Angie and some fellow racers we have all agreed that there is a need for some sort of production company to elevate our races to that of a Pro-Moto event. We have a company waiting in the wings to produce such events. It costs money however, like everything else.

Curt, I do agree that it would be cool, and helpful, and professional, to have something like that at the races. (And I think maybe you should explain what you mean by “production company”.) I don’t think however, that we should increase the entry fee by much, if any to accomplish that. Last year there was money that was given back to the racers at the end of the season that probably could have been put back into the series. But in its first year, the promise was made that the fee (the $10 per race above the regular track entry fee) would go 100% back to the racers. I recall some input from racers saying that they would rather have no trophy, or some sort of other recognition, and let those funds be turned toward the overall production of a top-notch event. There has been much talk about getting series sponsors, too, and I think that would be an area to pursue for that (the sound system, stage, etc). I think you mentioned that there was plenty of room for signage on the trailer/stage.

We all want this series to grow, but making it more expensive isn’t going to help. Since it is a series that includes everyone from Kid Karts to the Pros, we have to consider that in our approach to the events. Again, yes it would be great for the extended families of the juniors to come to an event and be able to hear Drew’s excellent announcing of the event, and of course, the racers like to hear the important announcements in the pits, too. I just don’t think that the majority of the racers are going to accept a continual increase in entry fees.

Ok, that’s my comment…. for now. I think we HAVE to keep the ideas flowing, and working TOGETHER to come up with a game plan. I will do what I can.

Thank you to Scott for doing such a great job with the class! It was great, I learned a bunch, hope the rest of you did too!

Thanks to Mike Jansen for the room, Curt Kistler for getting the ball rolling and providing the projector, and to Sam Walls for bringing the coffee and donuts!

I am gathering the data and will put them up on this site – I will post the link here, too. Since I wasn’t there, I want to make sure I have the info correct before publishing them.

    Blink,
Glad to help. As a news provider/editor, it is my job to get to the facts seperated from the fiction! Although I must admit, I would have a much steadier stream of articles if I just printed the gossip!

ps. Glad to hear that you will be around for awhile!

We just asked Cole what number he wanted to be. He was 4 at the time, but he says that he chose it because it is his lucky number. It just so happens that he placed 4th in the Colorado Sprint Championships, too, in 2003 so he has the #4 Junior 1 plate for the 2004 season. 😛

Sorry that we couldn’t make it 🙁 We were on our way, and turned around due to the lousy snow storm – coming from up north, it was nasty. Thank you all for toughing it out and taking care of business!

We are looking forward to the 2004 season, which is just around the corner!

This on the SKUSA site this morning (January 30, 2004 09:27 AM)

a paragraph in the article by Don Janowski

    SKUSA Unveils New Era

“The SuperNats on TV; we?ve been notified that a problem in production/editing has caused the show to be delayed, but that a new air date has been set. When we receive this new date, Matt Fink will announce it on the website. SKUSA has invested a significant amount in this production, and it will air.”
