Very nice Ben! Good Job. I guess I need to make a place to link to Colorado karters’ personal web sites. I will work on that.

I wouldn’t throw in the towel yet, guys. The meeting is going to determine the final set of rules, including weights and whether or not there is a drop. Be at that meeting, and call all your fellow racers that might not be on the internet much to see this, and make sure that they attend, too! They (track owners) will listen to the majority. Lets have a good showing.

I just wanted to say something about the decision to have no drops.

In all of the opinions gathered from the racers, there were sure a lot suggesting they would like to see at least one drop, even if the number of races remained at 7. I don’t recall anyone saying they did not want a drop, although some may have not commented either way.

I can understand that as a track operator you would not want to see people choose to use their drop at your track, but I think that what is going to happen is that you are going to have more people not commit to the entire series because if they are forced to miss one event and not get a break, why not miss more since they will be out of the points for the season anyway. If someone has one bad race day and for some reason doesn’t make the main event, then they are also out of the points battle, so why try hard to get to all of the other races? (Of course, there is the individual event prize funds or whatever – but not in the Jr classes)

By offering one drop, you are at least giving these folks a break. Doesn’t the PMT have drops? I don’t think that people are going to skip one event just because they have the drop. If they can make it, they will, so they can choose their drop.

Just my 2cents worth, but I know of two families, one which has three drivers, which will probably not bother with it at all now, due to a conflict with just one date. …so I thought it worth mentioning. Also, since this is an event inclusive of the Pros all the way down to the Kid Karts, you have to consider that these are families that also have other commitments.

All in all, it doesn’t hurt those that make every event, but makes it possible for those who HAVE to miss one, or take no points at one due to mechanical failure, to still have a chance for the season.

Mike Jansen has provided the location for this seminar, and these directions. (Thanks Mike!)

Here are the directions from the interstate:

I-25 get off on the road 119 exit (Longmont exit). HEAD WEST
Go approximately 7 miles till you PASS main street (there is now a new road that takes you direct to Ken Pratt Blvd A.K.A. the diagonal A.K.A. 119) (DON?T SPEED ON IT! IT IS A SPEED TRAP ON WEEKENDS!)
Continue on till you go over the railroad tracks (a mile past main street) and the next light immediately past the tracks is Nelson Road.
Go right and you?ll be making the first right into the Front Range Flea Market Shopping Center (50 yards past Nelson and Ken Pratt Blvd).
Go all the way to the back of the shopping center (it will be the 2 story office building). Park and go up the stairs and head right once on the second level to the conference room you can?t miss it.

If you?re like me (Mike) and only look for signs this is it from the freeway:

    I-25
    Road 119 exit/Longmont exit WEST
    Past main street
    Past railroad tracks
    Nelson Road Right
50 yards to the Front Range Flea Market Shopping Center RIGHT
    Back building
    Stairs
Right on landing of stairs to conference room

    Address is 1430 Nelson Road

Curt, you are being a bid modest, aren’t you? You are his dad, it’s ok to brag!! Anyway, do you know where they will be available to pick up?

He’s on the front page of The Colorado Karter this month, too!

I am curious to know what type of issues and/or topics you’d like to be covered.

Scott, we have talked many times recently, so you know what our current issues are with the RPM readings (with your help I think it is fixed -Thanks!).
Aside from that, we would like to learn more about the Analysis software in general, and the things it can do. Also getting as much information from the on board unit on race day, in the event I am not around to do the download.
I still have to do the Gear Calibration with the 60cc shifter, and I may have questions about that, if I can’t get it done!

    thanks,
    Angie

I just wanted to correct a comment I made on this thread earlier, as someone was kind enough to point out my errors!

😳 I was wrong (yes I said it!)…. WKA does indeed run Gold Cup Classes with the Briggs 5hp motor, restricted for the 8-10 and 10 – 12 age groups. There is an Animal class, also restricted for 12-15 years old. These are all Methanol

this brings up another question because the only engine specs in the WKA manual are for the Animal Methanol set up – not gas.

I wish more people spoke up about the Comer 80 disadvantage. There must be an easy fix to get them up to speed. The set up that Rosse had in Steamboat seemed to be competitive, what was different about it?

Through all of this we have to keep in mind what will be safe out on the track for our kids. I know we can all agree on at least one thing, and that is that we have to put our kids’ safety first!

    John and Don,

It has been stated that we are going to use WKA technical rules for the Junior classes and 4 cycles. Although they don’t run the Animal or Briggs flathead in Junior 1 type classes, they do have technical specs for the engines. Also for the Comer 80. This is going to be the starting point for our rules in this class. I am sure there will be some exceptions to those rules, as there have been in the past. Hopefully we can get those exceptions spelled out clearly so we all know what we are up against.
The best way to know what is going on, is to be at the meeting (soon to be announced) that will be open for racers to attend (usually held late January at IMI). At that point, all of the finer details should be hammered out, and we should all have an idea what the rules are for our respective classes. I am guessing that the general race procedures and regulations will also be annouced.
With the kind of discussions going on here, I sure wouldn’t miss that meeting if you want to have a say!
