If the rumor is true about a 10 race CSC series, please allow for (2) drops. Some of those dates will no doubt get in the way of SKUSA, STARS, or Shifter Nationals in OK.
    Thanks,
    Curt

Are there any reasons why we can’t run Honda or even Kohler Engines in the Junior 1 class?

    thanks

If it is true that there are to be 10 CSC races I agree with Curt, at leat 2 drops.

Still I would prefer fewer races (6-7) with more attention paid to some promotion for the races.

10 races would kill all of your efforts to build a club at
Bandi, IMI, GJ and even CRE. Four races, one at each track, and the fifth race at Steamboat would be perfect. Some of us would like to persue a track championship while running for the CSC championship. 6 races at other tracks would kill that effort.

What are you smoking, what kinda championship would it be then? IMHO I would like 10 races with 2 dropouts allowed. I have spent the money already for a good upcoing season of racing, and Im not gonna waste it.

there were many a weekend where no club occured, also, you must consider that STATE IS SUPPOSED TO COUNT AS CLUB POINTS
i do not think that a larger championship will impact club, just minimize the amount of clubs. I can see issue if this gets in the way of nationals though

    Don,

I don’t think adding more engine options into the Jr 1 Class is a good idea. Besides, where are the tech rules, and what would they be weighted to make them equal with the other engines. Do they even run them in competition in WKA? I think they are used more for rentals and fun karts.

    Just my 2cents.

I understand where Don is coming from. The Honda is used extensively in Canada and it lasts forever! It has come up many times in US sanctioning bodies, most notable in IKF, but it gets shot down every time. George down at CRE has tried several times over the years to get a Honda class but IKF won’t hear of it. We could come up with rules for it but not in any of the US based sanctioning bodies.

    Angie and Don,

I am having some problems on finding out exactly what type of motor and cost for my daughter (Nicki’s) cart for Super Junior 1 this year. Can anyone tell me when or where I can find out? I hear CRE is going with the Comer 80, but I also hear that some people are sticking with the Briggs. She is 9 and I would like to run her in the 50 Comer class because she only weighs 54 lbs, but I hear that she can’t because of her age…

😕 Can someone help me out here??

    Thanks again, John

I am smoking what that guest post is smoking. STARS has four races with a World Finals, SKUSA has four pro motos with a Supernational, CA has four races and a final for a State Champ…
10 is going to get in the way for many of us who try to support the local track owners. We set out for CRE and Action track championships along with STARS regional last season. The CSC was the best of all the racing we participated in, however, it did conflict with all of the other schedules. There are only so many weekends for us States who have a true winter season. Don’t wear out a good thing in just it’s second season. I do not see the turnouts in numbers with 10 races. What made the CSC fun for us was the 15-20 80’s at each event we were “able” to attend.
Gotta go light up another one!

Last year there were several girls that ran in the 50 comer class who were too old because of the very reasons you brought up, small and new at karting. I don’t think that kids should be pushed up in class just because they are at a particular age. Skill, size and motivations are much more important. Right now, the Comer 80 appears to be at a disadvantage in the CSC compared to the Briggs karts. I think we need to consider giving it a weight break.

If I had to go buy an engine for the Junior 1 class, I would look strongly at the Briggs Animal on gas. I ran the flat head on menthonal and while it is very fast, I was rebuilding engines every race weekend to keep them in top form. The valves just didn’t like bouncing off the head at 6,500 rpm 😀 If I had it to do all over, I would prefer the Comer 80 as 2 cycles are realtively cheap to run and they last forever. But running them heads up with the Briggs is tough.

Before you make a final decision, I would talk with the various track owners of the CSC. We allowed it last year in the Comer 50 class for a competitor to run who was “old” but it fit them perfectly.

    Kurt,

Yes, I can see now how it will get in the way. I was only thinking of people who run state. Sorry for the rude post.

John, I think we would be ok with your daughter running in the 50 comer class being so small. The trouble is when you allow that and then the kid goes out and smokes everyone, then the parents throw a fit. My daughter who is 9 ran a comer 80 last year in Jr 1 and was not even close to being competitive, this year she is running the rotax mini max in Jr 1 along with a few others over here that have purchased them. They seem to be very competitive to the Briggs Animal but very little maintenance compared to the Briggs. Lap times are only about a second off of the fastest Briggs time here at GJMS.
