Now do all your calculations on the 2nd place kart or 4th place kart. Ben and yourself smoked the rest of us. Take that as a compliment. You and your family have worked very hard to get your performance to where it is at.Stacey:
The last race of your season we saw your daughter with her jrmax. What weight ws she running?Bill

ParticipantBill, she was at whatever the kart weight is stock and her weight at 60 lbs. I tlaked to SSC and they thought the Mini Max was about 180 to 185lbs so that would put her around 240. She got down to 1:04’s that day the Briggs times at the CSC event were in the 1:02’S What did you think? she was running with the 50 comers, a Briggs flathead, and a 60 shifter. By the way I heard a few things about Kyles ICC Motor that he ran the last time here. It made me feel a little better but not much, he is sure driving great.

InactiveStacey:
Kyles motor was built right to the limit of the CSC rules. We thought we would get a jump on 2004 by getting it built last year and running it a few times. If they change the rules that was money not well spent. Bobby W. had the same motor and couldn’t shake Sam or AJ. That day was one of them days when the kid didn’t drop a wheel and drove a flawless race.
I hope the powers that be know how much rule changes from year to year hurt the wallet.
We have a lot of fun racing at your track, except when that other Cook knocks off the front of the kart on the first lap. I guess thats why we went there 4 times last year.Bill

ParticipantLOL, yes you have to be careful with Darren, the only time he is on the track is when he is crossing it LOL. What I meant is I thought he beat us that bad with a stock ICC it made me feel a little better to know that it had a little work done to it. I am going to get the same package from Paul this year. See you at the races.

InactiveBill,
Your point is well taken, and thanks for the compliment. I quess I just think it is being very unfair to the poor Comer80 to have people think it is competitive in this class based on the Steamboat race. I beleive the that result was due to our good low grip set-up and Patrick’s equally good, or more liklely, better low grip set-up. Based on our data gathered on both engines at two tracks, the Comer is gonna get hammered unless its a lot lighter. Since I believe its going to be tough to adjust equitably by weight, I am lobbying hard to remove the Comer from this class. BTW, we’ve got a strong Comer, so if we allow it at a big weight advantage, I’ll test and run whatever package is fastest. I’m trying to avoid that becomming neccesary for all.Rod Whetstone

ParticipantRod, it seems to me that an alternative solution is to run the Briggs restricted–wouldn’t that pretty much narrow the gap between the Briggs and the Comer K80? Isn’t that what’s done everywhere else in the country? I’m actually ambivalent about weight vs restrictor, since Patrick will be moving on to Tag Jr, and his much lighter weight brother will be taking over the Comer I’d be happy to see lighter weights. Safer for the driver and easier on my back to boot! But I’d hate to see the K80 eliminated entirely.
Brad, it’s a bit optimistic to say the Comer K80 is 9 HP. To get there, you need to go the very expensive blueprinting route. I think it’s more like 8.5 HP out of the box. (But I will defer to Rod here because I think he’s got the best data).
Stacey, CRE is thinking about running the mini-Max as a transitional class between Junior 1 (Comer 80) and Rotax Jr, but I don’t know if that’s really going to happen. The word I’ve heard on EKN is that mini is a real screamer. Running it as a separate class/flight sounds like a great idea (if there were enough around), but I can’t see adding it to the already confused JR 1 pack.
So when is the January meeting going to be held?

ParticipantJoe, at least you are being open minded, I like that, thankyou. We just need to get all the facts and see if the Mini Max is compatable. The poor 80 Comer had no chance last year, and know one complained, but I don’t want to see the Mini Max do that to the Briggs either, we need a balance. If that can’t happen then we need to do something different.

They ran a mini max class down at RMC nats in TX and those little things were fast, especially for the little kids. Most were running in the high 39’s and 40’s, while most of the Int. class was in the high 37’s and 38’s. The racing was really close and fun to watch but it almost seemed a bit fast for the little ones. Just my $.02 - AuthorPosts
