    Seven CSC races —- No drops !

    I just wanted to say something about the decision to have no drops.

    In all of the opinions gathered from the racers, there were sure a lot suggesting they would like to see at least one drop, even if the number of races remained at 7. I don’t recall anyone saying they did not want a drop, although some may have not commented either way.

    I can understand that as a track operator you would not want to see people choose to use their drop at your track, but I think that what is going to happen is that you are going to have more people not commit to the entire series because if they are forced to miss one event and not get a break, why not miss more since they will be out of the points for the season anyway. If someone has one bad race day and for some reason doesn’t make the main event, then they are also out of the points battle, so why try hard to get to all of the other races? (Of course, there is the individual event prize funds or whatever – but not in the Jr classes)

    By offering one drop, you are at least giving these folks a break. Doesn’t the PMT have drops? I don’t think that people are going to skip one event just because they have the drop. If they can make it, they will, so they can choose their drop.

    Just my 2cents worth, but I know of two families, one which has three drivers, which will probably not bother with it at all now, due to a conflict with just one date. …so I thought it worth mentioning. Also, since this is an event inclusive of the Pros all the way down to the Kid Karts, you have to consider that these are families that also have other commitments.

    All in all, it doesn’t hurt those that make every event, but makes it possible for those who HAVE to miss one, or take no points at one due to mechanical failure, to still have a chance for the season.

    I think the point system should reward the top 3 better.
    example:
    1st= 25 pts 😀
    2nd= 22 pts 🙂
    3rd= 20 pts 😮
    4th= 18 pts 😕
    5th on down -1pt 😡

    I also support your 6 best races out of the 7. this is not the PMT
    there could be bonus points for attending all the races

    In spite of solid support of having drop(s) in the race schedule as evidenced on this forum in the “Speak up” post — there aren’t going to be any? The racers are not even going to be able to vote on it at the kick-off meeting? So much for “democracy.” We’ll argue for 4 hours on ICC carb size and what motors run in Junior 1 and weight limits (ad nauseum), but not even discuss something that has a huge effect on teams that run nationals or those on a “tight” budget. Oh well…. 🙄

    I agree with Angie?Wanye and others who feel like there needs to be a drop.
    If there is no drop, the most entries you will have is the same number that the first race sees, plus if a problem accures during the season with any driver, what would be the insentive for that driver to pursue the series any further? Having no drop is only going to dwindle down the number of entries during the series of races. In no way would it add to the number of racers. Which do you want more racers or less racers?
    OK, if the track owners are deciding what the racers are going to do. I wouldn’t be surprized if they tried to require the racer to pay for the drop, even if they didn’t race. But us racers aren’t going to let them make all the decisions, are we? 🙂
    Heck lets talk a little about enty fees.
    If I club race or CSC race I still get the same award, a trophy. Now do I want to pay twice the amount for that same trophy and for the same amount of track time? I don’t mind paying a little more for year end awards but it shouldn’t be much more.
    I would like to see more seperation of the Pro classes and Amiture classes, starting with, if there is pay-out in the pro classes, they can pay more entry fee than the amitures.

    I wouldn’t throw in the towel yet, guys. The meeting is going to determine the final set of rules, including weights and whether or not there is a drop. Be at that meeting, and call all your fellow racers that might not be on the internet much to see this, and make sure that they attend, too! They (track owners) will listen to the majority. Lets have a good showing.

    another item to bring up is “rain” Doe we rum in the rain or do we postpone? if we do then run in the rain then it needs to be stated at the start of the season so we can get what we need for rain set up (wheels, tires, and so on) in the intrest of cost, I sugest we postpone for rain. it dosn’t rain a huge amount here and I don’t think it is worth the extra expense.

    But what does everyone think?

    Stacey:
    You scheduled the CSC and Skusa race back to back. Probably going to need 2 last chances races for the Pro 125 class if all the out of town teams show up a week early. Not complaining, the more the merrier. That could be another reason for 1 drop, hate to see a local not make a race and have no incentive to hit the rest of the CSC races. If one local has an outstanding race and the rest have mid pack days that could decide the championship without a drop. Might even need a LCQ in the 80s also.
    Gotta have a drop, it is the fair way, and will keep everything more interesting.
    We are one of the teams that already know can’t race a certain weekend. If we just pick and choose races thats at least $200 per race that the track owners won’t make. Times that buy another team or two.

    Remember that a drop doesn’t necessarily mean that you will not be at one of the races, it can also be used for many other reason such as mechanical failure, track incedents etc, if you are worried about financial support for the tracks why not have a full seasons race entry fee with a small discount?

    We will not be able to attend the drivers meeting on Jan 31st because of the distance involved. So please make sure that my vote is counted in favor of a drop!

    I agree with Angie as well…….We should be allowed 1 drop. A drop would provide for a tighter points race.

    Add 3 more votes for a drop, me, mom, dad. Here is the major issue, the 29tjh of august, IMI, the week after, Rock Island, the following week, steamboat, the following week, World finals, most people running the PMT will want to be at OMC for the steamboat weekend, so a drop of at least 1 race in the season is logical.
