I will be uploading results from the race. Sorry I haven’t yet.
It would be great to get more Kid Karts out together with the Hondas, just to see. We are going to be out at IMI on Saturday, and would love to get some more folks out there, too.

The two kids with the Hondas were mine, so I am sure you may not believe what I say about the whole situation.

You know, I have gotten calls from some newbies, and they seem to understand the reason that the rules are delayed. If you all think we are sitting around twiddling our thumbs (I can only imagine what else)…. You are wrong. Last year we did have a rule book, SKUSA’s book. It didn’t cover some of the classes (Mini Max, Jr 1 Animal, Briggs Mod, Kid Karts), and others had issues (K80). I really do understand the frustration. We are trying to put the book together in such a way that we can easily work with it for years to come with little work required to update each year. I am sorry that the process doesn’t happen overnight. It isn’t because there are any big dark secrets, and any specific technical questions can be answered now, you just have to ask.

I will tell you what I know ….
Mini Max will run to RMax rules for Mini Max
Pro and Novice 125 will run to last years specs -wts ICC 385, moto 375
125 Masters will run to last years specs – wts ICC 410, Moto 400
125 Stock (Spec) will use the2006 Spec Moto Standards pdf file
80 Novice and 80 Junior to last years specs and wts for K3 and K2
K80 class to last years specs (Brian I will have the actual copy tomorrow) with the correction to run airboxes NOT air cleaners –
TAGS to TAGUSA across the board for Sr, Masters, and Jr.
Briggs – you guys know, but I have a copy and will be in the book.
Jr 1 Animal – same deal, you all probably have an idea, I have a hard copy, and it will be in the book.
and Kid Karts will….. TBA (looking like the Honda deal will be it – official word will be any day)

Tires are MG Yellow. Fuel is VP 93, 98 or C12 and alky for Briggs Mod. The oil as of right now is either the VP RS7 , or Maxima 927.

Background color for rear plates as follows:
    Pro 125 ? Yellow
    Novice 125 ? Red
    Stock 125 ? Blue
    Masters 125 Shifter ? Black
    Junior 80 ? Yellow
    Novice 80 ? Red
    Tag Masters – Yellow
    Tag Senior – Red
    Tag Junior – Blue
    Mini Max – Yellow
    Jr 1 Animal – Red
    Jr 1 Comer 80 – Black
    Kid Kart ? Yellow
    Briggs Mod – Yellow

Official info will be posted on the CSC website any day now.

I am sure I am going to get hammered here, so bring it on!

Rich, I have a suggestion on what you could do with the grape vine!! :sun:

    Curt,

You would be right on the assumption, 385 lbs for Pro 125 Shifter.

Background color for rear plates as follows:
    Pro 125 ? Yellow
    Novice 125 ? Red
    Stock 125 ? Blue
    Masters 125 Shifter ? Black
    Junior 80 ? Yellow
    Novice 80 ? Red
    Tag Masters – Yellow
    Tag Senior – Red
    Tag Junior – Blue
    Mini Max – Yellow
    Jr 1 Animal – Red
    Jr 1 Comer 80 – Black
    Kid Kart ? Yellow

As for the oil…. that would be a good question to run by Dennis.
Email him at [email protected] . I think that it may be out of the question.

The fuel used has to be C12 MS98 or MS93, your choice there.

Mr Jansen, I am going to be nice. There were several smart remarks that I could have come back with on that one!

larry, yes that includes the Jrs. You are right there was discussion about changing the weights, but nothing more ever came of it. Tag weights are per TAGUSA.

joe, not ignoring you, but I don’t know the particulars of ALL of the rules. Does that Rotax rule cause a problem for you?

Mike, I think you are a fine flagger!!! You know that, we work well together.

Anyway, Jim Keesling is the one doing the dirty work on the rules. Not to say there are any major changes, just cleaning them up to work for us. No major changes from last year. We are basically using the 05 rules, with a few changes. The Tags will follow the current TAGUSA rules, and everything else is like last year. Except maybe there are a few changes in the stock class, Jim could answer that one. As soon as I get the rules, there will be a book printed, all members and track owners will get one, and they will be available online. If you have a specific question that you need answered right away, email me and I will get an answer.

Thank you all for being so patient :loony:

I didn’t mean to say we should implement a claiming rule this year. I was just trying to get feedback as to what people thought of claiming rules in general. In case you didn’t notice, my family is also in favor of the Honda. I think that having the Honda around this year will prove their reliability. Brad, you have implemented the supplied motor program for this season – so we will also see how that works. If all is good, we have found the cure for the Kid Kart class in the CSC next year IF ALL OF THE TRACK OWNERS ARE IN AGREEMENT. It isn’t about a few parents whining, although I think listening to comments from racers and parents is important.

Discussions that happen on this forum are not deciding anything – that happens at another level. So why not allow people to express their ideas here? I believe that is the reason that I started a forum on this site in the first place.

ps. there is no reason to have a blueprinted Comer to win. Wyatt earned the #3 plate at the Nation’s Cup with a stock motor. (actually would have been second, except for a little confusion with the checkered flag! 😳 )

I think there is a liability issue there. That was discussed. As was a claimer rule. I think a claiming rule would be a good idea. Others say it would kill the class. What do you think?

Jay, that is such an adult and sportsmanlike thing to say. You have a right to feel that way, but why do you feel it neccesary to say it out loud (or in this case, on the forum). That kind of comment is a perfect example of what is wrong in this class. It shouldn’t be “my kid is better than yours”, but lets all go out and show the kids how to race AND HAVE FUN doing it.

I can tell you that my kids did just fine last year with motors out of the box. You don’t have to go to any extra expense to be competitive in this class. I hope the new or potential kid kart parents out there are not reading this and getting discouraged. It really is fun for the kids, and except for a few incidents last year, the racing has been fair and fun to watch on the track. The kids will learn to be better racers if the field is closer. Cheating to get your kid out front, to run by himself, and get a bigger plastic trophy, is ridiculous. And that is not to say that a kid won’t be out front, running by himself (or herself), with a box stock, legal motor. It happens….driving skills make a big difference with these little motors.

The Honda motor might make the most sense, but the way that it was introduced is the problem. Brad was very generous in offering to provide the motors, but all of the track owners were in agreement to use the supplied Comer motor program. Brad was willing to put in the money and effort to get the motors, but all four track owners agreed that using the Comer supplied motor was worth a try this year, to pull this class back in check. It was only when Brad changed the motor to be used without consulting the other CSC track owners that it got messy. Yes, some parents were concerned, too. It means more time, effort, and money, to go practice. Because unless you buy a Honda set up to practice with, you have to rent one, and put it on for the day. Not a huge deal, but still one more thing to do.

This year will expose the karters to the Honda motor, and to a supplied motor program at IMI. Then, we can use that information to go forward to next year.

    Off my soapbox now.
